Tropez, I just want to say what a lovely young man I think you are.:grinheart I hope you partner knows how lucky she is to be with someone who would have gone to all that bother and expense to have the upstairs room converted, even though it wasn't what you wanted, just to keep her happy.:)
I'm glad she told you the real reason she wanted the move - I certainly wouldn't want an audience for intimate moments either. Don't forget to let us all know how you resolve it.:D0 -

Well, thank you, though to be fair, I am hard work at times
I had an idea, which I shall present to my beloved over dinner, which I must check isn't burning. It isn't quite the four poster but my partner, at her old place, had a curtain rail like gizmo around her bed with a fly net thing attached, because she absolutely hates bugs... daddy long legs and spiders in particular, but that's another thing...
But what if I, or one of my slightly-better-at-DIY friends to be exact, were to fit a similar thing in my room to surround the bed, maybe with a dark fabric? That might solve the problems...
Anyway, best check on that dinner!

            Hope you enjoyed your dinner...
You can buy shower curtain rails like the ones you suggest and get tab top curtains to fit onto it, or just buy a purpose built bed drape ( can't remember what they're called) and fit that...
I work with a woman who refused to get undressed in front of her dog,:rotfl: so your girlfriend is not alone.... sadly the dog has now passed away, and taken the secrets of what he saw with him to his grave... she only stopped getting undressed in front of him after she noticed him watching!

Tropez, clicked back on this thread out of interest- I'm glad it wasn't a serious problem, but was laughing for a bit there.....

Throw the dogs chew toys or bones every time you're worried about them looking? A good way to get a dog off the bed- take something that has your scent- old jumper, devet, dressing gown, and bed the dogs down in the kitchen or utility room with it. Took a bit of work with ours- you'll find they 'worry' less if they can still smell you. Similar to a child with a comforter.0 -
Okay, well, things seem to have resolved themselves. I presented the idea of having the drape-thing (as you may be able to tell, I'm ever-so-technical) around the bed and the dogs to sleep in the hallway with the door slightly ajar for now and she was happy enough to give it a whirl. I'll have to sort the drape and rail out today. The dogs slept outside the door without any problems, although they were giving me the evils for a bit while I was moving their sofa. :rotfl:
The only problem now is that due to my inability to maintain a straight face during our discussion things kind of got away from me and I now have to take her for a weekend away... she was eyeing up Rome.0 -
Glad it is sorting itself out ....I have visions of the dogs, on their sofa - rather like the Strictly Come Dancing Judges, scoring the performances they see........:rotfl:0

Oh no, not Rome, they have loads of dogs there, they're everywhere....whereas Clacton on Sea Travelodge will have plenty of B&Bs that don't allow dogs. :rotfl:Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
