The market is already competitive! There's a huge range of rates available in the market. If you simply mean "higher" when you say "competitive", then I doubt it - just a sign of an institution with a need for a lot of money over a short period, like Newcastle's OTT 5% rate a year ago, or West Brom's 18 month bonds around 19 months ago. Watch this bond get pulled very quickly when they've addressed their short-term funding shortage.Loughton_Monkey wrote: »I hope this is a symptom of a little bit more competition coming to the market.0 -
I do hope the powers that be allow Caroline to return.Help like that is rare and she was good enough to give of her time with no gain intended by it.
This business of company reps on the site always amuses me: as it often seems to follow the same basic pattern.
Company rep posts messages which on the face of it seem helpful and genuine.
Someone points out the rules of their posting on MSE and they must be registered with MSE to officially post.
The post are removed
The company rep disappears
End of sequence.
So the options seem to be...
a) the company rep was actually not a genuine company rep but a troll.
b) the company rep was indeed a company rep but posting without the authority of the company and those in authority are unable to comply with MSE's requirements to be an approved company rep.0 -
Never come across it before,i for one thought she was genuine.Still,i am happy with the company, that is the main thing. After being messed about ,like so many others,by Santander it is refreshing to find an easy to use site.0

Oh well - I'm one of the 'very few people' required to provide paper ID.
Not going to bother now - 3 different forms of ID is far too much hassle - I will put my cash elsewhere!
I was also presented the 'further ID required' page after completing the first page. Likewise, I'm not going to pursue it - having to risk sending in original docs, or get solicitor to verify.
As stated in an earlier post, I've always been electronically verified, but recently had to provide further ID on another account. This is starting to bother me; I'm not sure what has triggered it (unless it is completely random, and I'm unlucky to get selected!).
What could I do to find out what's triggered it / determine bad markers on my 'credit profile' - any recommendations?
Finally, what happens to the data completed when the application has been terminated half way?0 -
Opened an account easily with £5 yesterday. Tried to add a further deposit today but online msg says to wait for grid card. No doubt the solution is to ring up but what a nuisance.0

That is odd,i thought the minimum had to be £500? And when i trialled how to pay in it came up with the page for debit card details. So are you saying that it won't let you use it without the grid card?
perhaps this isn't going to be as easy as i thought!0 -
£5,000 paid in yesterday via Debit Card (with no grid card), you simply log in and make the payment. That is odd,i thought the minimum had to be £500? The grid card, I suspect, is only for withdrawals/transactions out of the account.0 -

Definitely says no transacts when you tick the no grid card received box. No other menu options except to display one liner showing account and balance details.0 -

No initial Debit Card payment was made when opening the account - maybe your initial £5 knocked the system out of joint?0
