Morning, is it Monday already? First full week of the year for both us and the kids (they’ll be knackered by Friday!)
DH gets paid on Friday and it can’t come soon enough. We are rapidly running out of money, it is always the same towards the end of the month, I do have some change saved so will need to bank that but not the £2 coins of course.
DD has decided that she doesn’t want to do her climbing club now, so we are going to give her a break from it for a while and then see if she wants to go back in a couple of months, in the meantime it will save us £8.95 per session.
Got a lot to do this week and a lot of paperwork and phone calls to get done.
My aim this week is to walk as much as possible and not use the car as much; this will save us some money this week as I will not be using the petrol.
My meal plan for the week is done but it will need tweaking if we are to get to Friday without having to spend anything.
Have a good day everyone0 -
God am I tired today, woke up in the early hours this morning and couldn’t get back to sleep; the only thing I could think about was whether we have any peas! Then my mind started wandering and I started thinking about money
I think the first six months of this year are going to be difficult as they always are. We are going to Preston to see my mum at the beginning of April as she is having a party to celebrate her retirement but there is also her birthday and Mother’s Day that same weekend. The hotel is booked (£90) for the four of us including breakfast for the night, we’ve also got a holiday booked at the end of April.
Anyway on to today, I need to get some peas lol for dinner and the workmen that are currently digging up the road directly outside the house are coming in today to disconnect the gas so they can sort the new pipes out.
With any luck I will at some stage walk to school and back but it’ll probably be when I go to collect them from school.
On a good point, I haven’t drawn any money out so far this week and am not aiming to if I can help it.
Dinner tonight is sorted and I need to get the meatballs made and in the fridge for tomorrow night’s dinner.
Have a good day everyone0 -
I was awake in the early hours too
But I hate peas so would have worried if I had been thinking of them!!

Thanks hun, greatly needed. Am aiming to walk to work shortly once the workmen have been, hopefully it will wake me up a bit.
Am currently sat here listening to War of the Worlds and drinking tea, going to get motivated and get the washing up done in a minute.0 -
Morning…managed to get some sleep last night; I woke up once but managed to drift off again.
So much for the workmen coming yesterday, the appointment was for 9.15am so they could come in and disconnect the gas supply before I went to work, they finally turned up at 10am just as I was going out the door; they’d obviously not been told the time by their project manager. Needless to say I wasn’t impressed and as such they are coming this afternoon to change the main gas pipe outside and disconnect us and then reconnect everyone again (so they say).
Not much to report moneywise, didn’t use the car much yesterday but will be doing today due to the torrent of rain outside.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Workmen..eh..hopefully they'll come back today and sort it0

Yippee it’s nearly Friday, always a good thing. My back is a bit sore this morning, I think I must have been restless last night any how I’ve had some Nurofen Plus so that should kick in shortly.
The gas workmen turned up yesterday morning when I’d come back from doing some errands and they have half an hour to disconnect the supply, they then came back after I finished work to do a bit more and then came back once I’d picked the kids up from school to finish it off and by 5.30pm we’d got the gas back on and the heating. Hopefully the holes on our section of the road will be filled in by the weekend.
On the money side of things, I’ve checked the online account and thanks to the CB being paid in unexpectedly early, it has given us a bit of breathing space until Friday.
I haven’t put any petrol in the car yet since before Christmas, so pleased there; I have half a tank left so am trying to be economical with it.
Having seen the news this morning and listening to other people about the money situation because everything is going up, it has strengthened my resolve to clear the credit card as this will give us a bit more money every month.
I am thinking of seeing if anyone would like a cleaner term time only as this would give us a little bit more money a month but not too sure if it would work realistically.
Anyway off to get the kids motivated and get sorted for school. Have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning - my cleaner is a term time only lady.....and it works fine with me, as it saves me a few £££ as well in the school hols when I don't have to pay her!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Happy Friday
Had a phone call last night from another Area Manager asking me to go to a local senior school, I explained that due to certain things happening recently the person involved is at that school and at present I would have to decline but feel as though I should have gone anyway as I now feel as though.
Anyhow I’m at the Junior school today, so will wait and see what if anything comes back from my Manager.
DH got paid today it seemed like a lifetime until payday but it is here, I’ve done some necessary transfers and need to sort out the rest of the finances this afternoon.
DD is at a school friends house this afternoon, which DS is finding rather hard to deal with as he’s not been invited…bless him!
Shopping delivery tonight and I need to go to Tesco’s today to buy the meat for the month and then I can do my meal plan for the month.
We have a friends 40th party tomorrow to go to, it’s in the afternoon at her house so I doubt we’ll be late home; we have a bottle of champagne that we are going to dust off and give to her so very MSE that way.0 -
Sounds like you'll have a great weekend0
