Morning…god am I tired today, need to get motivated though as I have a plan this week, yup you guessed it back to my lists again.

I was planning to walk to school and work today but judging by the rain we have got this morning, that plan is out and the car is going to be in use. Bah to best laid plans and all that.

    So my plan this week:
    · [STRIKE]Do the ironing – we have masses of it and I think once I get rid of it I will feel a bit better about the house.[/STRIKE]
    · Sort the kids toy box out that is residing in DS’s bedroom
    · Sort through the kids clothes – Charity shop, dump and e-bay piles.
    · Haircut for me on Wednesday morning :)
    · Visit my friend and his wife on Thursday morning :)

My aim to declutter the house is in need of starting, we are already half way through January and not very much has been done. The car boot sales don’t start until April so can’t do one of those yet but need to get some sort of decluttering done.

    My plan for today:
    · [STRIKE]Ironing[/STRIKE] - have done all but the shirts, DH does those as he's fussy
    · [STRIKE]Sort dinner out for tonight[/STRIKE] - Panfired pork, stovies, peas and carrots
    · [STRIKE]Wash up[/STRIKE]
    · [STRIKE]Work[/STRIKE]

DH gave me a £2 coin yesterday so that has gone in the pot apart from that nothing else to report moneywise, I’m aiming on several NSD’s this week.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Hi Tea,

all sounds good. The rain was awful this morning I was half drowned by the time I got from the car into work.

Sorry for being so ignorant, but have to ask what 'stovies' are ?

    xx
  • Hi hun,

I don't know if they are what they are supposed to be, I'm sure any Scots person on here will tell me but the recipe I have you par boil some new potatoes and drain. Get a flat bottomed pan, place some vegetable or sunflower oil in the bottom and a knob of butter and heat until melted, place the potatoes in the pan and cook gently add some pepper to taste and fry the potatoes are crisp on the outside. xx
  • Morning again and half way through the week, always a good thing; I’m not particularly keen on Wednesdays as they are the busiest at work but being busy does make the two hours I work go rather quickly.

On the subject of work, I have been wondering whether going back to work full time now the kids are settled at school is going to be worthwhile? It would mean getting childcare for the beginning of school and the end of school and during the holidays etc but the extra money would probably come in handy? Might need to investigate that avenue I think.

Pay day next week for me, can’t come soon enough.

I have been looking at the budget for next month and I feel like the aim of getting rid of the credit card is going to be harder than I thought. I think I need to up my game if I am going to be able to put any spare money on the credit card at the end of the month.

However looking at the budget for this month, I should theoretically be able to pay more than the minimum I was expecting to pay off…that will be a good thing.

Meal plan for the week is going good so far, just need to keep it up.

On the plus side, DH has been giving me his £2 coins of which another one went into the pot last night.
  • It’s Friday and that is always a good thing.

Didn’t post yesterday, I went to see my friend and his wife and then went to work. DH got his expenses paid in the end so have done some more budgeting and as long as we are careful we should be okay up to when he gets paid again, not forgetting of course that I get paid next Thursday.

I have been totalling up NSD’s and to get to next pay day I need to achieve at least 11, however I have two birthdays in between one of which is a 3 year old birthday party as well at the local soft play.

Today I need to get some padded envelopes and some other bits.

Meal plan has gone well so far this week and tonight we are having homemade chilli and rice with Doritos. The Doritos were left over from Christmas so just need to buy some sour cream.

I have made a conscious decision to cut down on alcohol during the week, I’m only having a drink with dinner and have found that I am now sleeping properly and not waking up feeling like carp in a morning.

I have also been very tired lately, I think it is a lack of sunlight because of the bad weather so I am going to pick up some Vitamin D tablets and see if they help.

I was thinking about going back to work full time and as desperate as I am it just isn’t viable which is a huge disappointment, just need to get a job that has some more hours or another job on top of the one I have now.

Have a good day everyone off to get motivated.

Glad you are sleeping a bit better - it is always a drain when sleep is consistently poor.

As for working full time - there are so many fors and againsts, but very rarely a wrong answer. You will do what is right for you at this time.....that might change in, say, 6 months time or whatever, but you will always make the right decision.

Chili sounds fab - I am making thai prawn curry tonight.....nom nom nom!

    Have a good day x

  • Morning diary,

I didn’t update yesterday as was very tired due to not sleeping properly. However did manage to get some sleep last night so don’t feel too bad.

Payment to credit card has been cleared, I ended up not doing the minimum payment as DH had spent more on the card than I thought; hey ho never mind. Payment this month was £446.00 this included CB money. Balance now stands at £3143.40, it would have been under the £3k mark but can’t be helped; I’m not going to whinge about it.

Having checked the finances this morning, things could be dicey, we will either end up with more than I’m predicting or less, depends if one payment comes out that I’m not sure will or not.

My mum is coming to visit this weekend, it’s DH’s birthday next Monday so she is coming down to spoil the kids and throw us out of the house so she can babysit :)

On to today, I’ve got lots of small chores in the house that need doing. Cleaning the glass, polishing etc so really need to get those done as well as sorting out dinner for tonight.

Right off to get motivated, have a good day everyone.

Have a good day yourself!! The main thing with the finances is that you are prepared for a possible difference in the budget - so many times in the past it would only have been AFTER a payment came out that we realised we didn't have enough to cover it.

So, hurrah for being on the ball - and hopefully it will all work in your favour.

  • Slight change of plan, my mum can't come down this weekend as she'd planned a bit disappointing but there you go. If nothing else we will save some money.

I have been doing some calculations and providing we can pay off the amount we have been doing, the credit card will be gone in approximately 8 months :D which then will allow me to concentrate on Christmas.

It is going to be tough this year, especially as the decluttering hasn't even started yet :o I have worked out that I need to do at least 2 car boot sales per month from April - Sept in order to clear some of the junk.

DD's room is going to be painted during the half term holiday and smartened up, she needs a built in high bed as her room is a box room so that will cost us some money to have done but will at least make her room her own. She only has a bed in there at the moment and even that is a shorty bed, yes it is 'that' small.
  • So first of a new month of the year, only 10 months to Christmas :)

I haven’t updated my diary as there hasn’t been much to report on the money side of things, I am keeping a close eye on the finances but I think that this month will be very tight.

Operation house move has started, I decluttered the kids toys…that took me most of Saturday to do but was worth it, DH took a bin liner full of broken toys to the dump and we have another full bin liner for the carboots or charity shops.

I sorted out the shoe rack yesterday and got that area tidy and hoovered so that’s one job sorted this week.

The credit card is on track to clear however checking it this morning they appear to have upped his credit limit? Have told DH just hope he doesn’t see it as ‘It’s there, I got to use it’. It will be gone this year or I will just have to cry!

Anyway on the house clearing side of things, I have gone through the house to figure out what needs doing where and my aim this month is to clear some more bits and pieces and decorate DD’s room. Three weeks to go until half term…EEK!

Am working over at the Junior side of the school today, am closing the kitchen up today over there as the cook has to go to another school to close up there. Busy day today all in all.

Right off to get motivated, have a good day everyone and Happy February.
