  • Morning all,

Been quite hectic here this past couple of days, DH’s company have changed medical insurers so I am in the process of trying to get new cover with the new company to get DD’s Speech Therapy sorted.

That coupled with a rather High bill for the gas/electric for over the winter period when we had the very icy cold weather. I rang E:on and asked them if there was a cheaper tariff that they could put us on and the nice polite lady I spoke to did just that, so fairly happy there…I have however had to transfer the money over that I put aside for the Car Taxes to cover the bill.

It is 11 days until DH gets paid, seriously need to get somewhere with the NSD’s not been as good at those as I should be. I think I kind of lost momentum and need to kick myself in to touch.

So not sure what to do now.

Okay I am sure just need to think about how I am going to get the money back over the months as well as still over paying the credit card, I think the credit card may take a couple of months longer to clear than anticipated but I think I can live with that.

Major assessment of the situation is needed today I think.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Hi Tea,

sometimes it's more helpful to just stand back & assess rather than ploughing blindly on. The key to this debt busting is (IMHO) to be adaptable; try out new methods & be prepared to change them if they dont work for you.

Hope you have a nice weekend & half term in 3, just 3 weeks

Morning, it’s Monday again and one week and one day until DH gets paid and two weeks until Half Term.

So I have been thinking about how I am going to tackle things, Lula you are right I did need to step back and as Hypno has said previously I have looked for a different angle. I think part of the problem is that I am trying to clear what is in essence not that much debt (apart from the loan) but trying to clear it all in one go so to speak. This I now realise is silly, stupid even as generally there are a lot of things that crop up that I forget about.

Before I end up burning out (happened once before if you remember) my strategy for next month (from DH’s payday) is this:

    · Pay just over the minimum payment on the credit card but pay more when the months are good.
    · Kick start the NSD’s properly…I have been deluding myself with these and need to get a grip.
    · Walk as much as possible and avoid using the car…I keep believing that we can keep putting fuel in it but in reality we can’t. I need to put some fuel in it but need to make it last.
    · Keep up with my spending limit and try and reduce it if possible.
    · Don’t overspend on the Grocery budget and keep an eye on the meal plan.

All things that I should be doing anyway but I guess I needed a gentle reminder.

We have gone through the dvd’s and we have quite a few that we don’t watch anymore so my plan this week is to put them on Music Magpie and then hopefully get rid of them, will also put them on Amazon if I don’t get a good price for them on MM.

Not too busy a week for me, but a very busy week the week after so need to get as much done as possible this week.

    Have a good day everyone.

Forgot to add - I need to get back on to the Flylady Thread again, even if I only do Level One every week. Be back shortly going to see what the challenges are this week.....
  • Ok so here's the Flylady thread for today:

    3. Clean out a cupboard.. any cupboard
    4. If you are able/weather permitting go do your necessary garden jobs.
  • Morning again, had a fairly productive day yesterday even managing to sell something on Amazon okay so I might end up with about 50p once I’ve posted it but I’m still happy.

Managed to get most of Flylady done yesterday and am raring to go with today’s:
Tuesday ~ Kitchen and Dining Mess
    Level One
    Sweep, vacuum and mop floors
    Declutter and wipe worksurfaces
    Shine that stinky sink
    Level Two
Wipe table replacing cloth if necessary.. I want to see pretty tables piles of mail and pens and goodness knows what else has to go!
Clear out a cupboard.. The one with baking supplies or the one with pans and plastic boxes.. GO!! Or you could, if you have one, clear the pantry!
Wipe and replace small appliances.. Clean one thoroughly!
    Level Three
Wipe units and large appliances.. don't forget kickboards!
Wipe the insides of all the cupboard doors!
Organise any cookery books.. Dusted, destickified and placed back tidily!
    Dejunk window sills
    Extras
    1. Wash/replace any scanky dishclothes/sponges etc
    2. Throw out those bacteria breeding chipped mugs and plates etc
    3. Sort out and restock medicine cupboards
    4. Wash the brushes, mops, dustpans etc.. how gross do these get?
I did the monthly shop last night so that is all set to be delivered when DH gets paid. I need to go through the freezer before it’s delivered so that I know what meat I need to buy for the month that way I can then get the meal plan done.

I got some more washing done and dried yesterday so I need to put that away at some point today.

    Have a good day everyone.
  • Morning diary and lurkers,

Not much to report money wise, I sold two items on Amazon yesterday so they need to be posted this morning. I am trying my hardest not to spend anything this week so that from next week it won't be as difficult to do and I'll get back into the routine again.

Feeling very positive at the moment, okay things aren't brilliant on the financial side of things but they will get better.

Manged to do most of yesterdays Flylady and am going to do today's as much as possible:
Wednesday ~ Master Bedroom & Landing
    Level 1
    Check smoke alarms are working
Remove bed linen and replace with fresh linen
    Declutter the floordrobe
    Level 2
Dust surfaces & make sure no cobwebs.. make sure to do the bed base.. mine was gross
Vacuum mattress before replacing fresh linen
    15 minutes grotspot clearance
    Level 3
Vacuum floors in bedroom and on landing
Sort one area of clothes or linen storage making sure only what should be in there is, anything that's had it's day or doesn't belong there is removed
Defluff and demuck woodwork... skirtings, window frames, door frames dados, picture rails etc

    Extras
    1. fling boogie time, time for that midweek fling, go grab a bag and clear that clutter
    2. Air the duvet.. fling it over the line for half an hour if you can.. fly away bugs!
    3. Clean windows in these rooms
    4. Binbag dance to go to charity shop! Or just general rehoming!
Got a busy day at work today, Wednesdays are always the busiest but I like that when today is out the way the weekend is one step closer.

    Have a good day everyone.
  • Happy Friday everyone,

Sold three dvd’s on Amazon this week, after postage I think that I might have made about £5, not much but it helps.

The house is looking reasonably good now, so very happy that I have restarted the Flyladying.

On the money side of things, this week is going good as I haven’t bought anything unnecessary. Next week will be good as DH gets paid on Tuesday so need to keep up with the no spending.

My boss turned up at the school yesterday for my probation review, the good news is that she’s happy with me and my work so it looks like I still have a job for the time being.

One of my aims next week is to catch up with everybody’s diaries, I’ve been neglecting a lot of my friends on here not purposely but other bits this end have got in the way.

Right if I am to get anything done I need to get my bum in gear.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Hi Tea,

nice to see you're positive again :T

I think for many of us, we go through bouts of just being a bit bored with debt busting & plodding & want to speed things up a bit. I reckon it's the plodding that entrenches our newly learned moneysaving skills so although not particularly exciting at the time, we do eventually reap the rewards when debt free.

Your fly lady list scares me :rotfl: but I need to make one of my own so best stop lingering without much intent :D

    Enjoy your weekend
    xx
  • It has been a week since I wrote in my diary! silly girl!

Things have been a bit hectic here on the financial front and personal front.

The house on the other hand is looking reasonable.

It is half term next week, so no rushing about to be done. I got the paint for DD's room, using part of a voucher that my mum gave us for Christmas, that is a chore to be done at the beginning of the week.

I am trying really hard not to spend anything and so far it appears to be going well. This weekend is going to be busy, both kids have parties, one on Saturday (DD's friend) and one on Sunday (DS's friend), so minimum spend as much as possible.

I am out with my old colleagues tonight but not aiming to spend lots and I am out on Monday night with the mum's from school again not aiming to spend lots.

I have filled my car up, £54 in total  so really need to make it last as much as possible.

Both kids are on packed lunches at school after half term, so I'm hoping this will save us some money. I worked out that we were spending between £80 - £100 per month just on school lunches for both of the kids, which we just can't afford. I've told DH that I can do both lunches for £40 max per month, which with BOGOFS should be doable.

    Have a good day everyone.

have a good time on your nights out...don't blame you putting the kids on packed lunches as school dinners cost a fortune.
