I have tried onwards and upwards and it hasn’t quite worked out this year, hence my new diary.

Debts at present are:
C&G loan: £22,000 – this is tied in with the mortgage so no great rush to pay off yet.
Credit card: £3584.89 – 0% until September 2011
Overdraft: £2750.00

Total owed: £28,334.89

If you have read my last diary you will know that the loan was taken out to get rid of DH’s car loan and credit card debt, which has been a god send in the sense that it has given us some freedom in terms of money. The loan we aren’t in a rush to pay back initially as the repayments are coming out with the mortgage every month, so for the time being can happily sit on the back burner. We haven’t paid anymore to SiL and she hasn’t asked for any more but as things are tense anyway a bit more tension hasn’t made any difference.

My main reason for starting a new diary is the priorities have once again changed and DH who was working in Norwich for the past 6 months or so is back to working in London as of today, so a new way of thinking is needed if we are to survive the remainder of 2010 and a brand new 2011 intact.

My priority from today is to pay off the credit card, the amount is the remainder from the Norwich trips and as it is on 0% until September 2011 it needs to be gone or reduced by half or more by then.

Thankfully next year there are no big birthdays coming up, as far as I am aware but we will no doubt be going camping again in the summer, both kids’ bedrooms are in dire need of redecorating and I need some new glasses so need to factor these in to things.

So there are 10 months left until September next year, so £3584.89 divided by 10 gives me £358.49 that I need to pay off per month in order to clear the credit card. I normally pay off £200 per month so I need to try and make the extra £158.49 some how. There is a way that I can do it, we are one of the households that are going to be losing the Child Benefit and I have put this month’s away and we have lived on just DH’s wage and mine. I can put the £134.80 on top of what I normally pay and then I could just find £23.69 per month some way which I think might be easier and quicker.

The other thing I was thinking was to put any spare money that is left in the account at the end of the month on the credit card. So DH gets paid a week on Monday so anything left over then will get transferred over to the credit card and we start again for the next month.

I have to remember though that we have Christmas coming up and although I have got some things I need to get the rest, especially the kid’s things.

So here we go again….

  • Saturday morning, it’s still fairly dark and I have a stinking cold. Pah! Still I have taken a multi-vitamin and some paracetamol and I’m determined to beat the blooming thing.

I’ve checked the online banking and the last DD hasn’t come out yet, so I think it’ll be Monday when it does, I can then work out how much we have left to last us until DH payday.

I need to get the grocery order done at some point and stick to my budget this month.

Next week DD has a weeks free school lunches :) so that’ll help matters on the money side of things.

I need to think about next week and what I need to get done, list to follow once I’ve got it sorted in my head.

    Have a good day/weekend everyone.

    Hi Purpletea,

    Happy new diary!

    Urg x x
  • Morning all you lovely people, I hope you had a great weekend?

A bit of a busy week this week, I need to go through the shopping order and alter it as there are a few bits on it that we don’t need.

I have checked online banking and the final payment for the month has come out and so has the payment for the Avon. DH has sorted his train ticket out for the week and I just need to pay for one session of climbing club for DS. What is then left in the account is ours, which compared to last month is good.

I think that I might be able to make an overpayment of £100 to the credit card this month, if we still have something left by the weekend as well as the child benefit from last month…predicted payment this month..£434.80 :D

Will add more later got to dash and take the kids to school.

Back again, kids dispatched to school and grocery shopping has been amended. I have joined the Asda Pulse Panel thingy; I think it’s a bit like the Tesco one so we’ll see how it goes.

I need to get the washing up done before I toddle off to work shortly and the washer appears to have finally finished, I’m hoping the tumble drier finishes shortly so I can get this load dry and get another load in the washer before I go.

DS is at a friends house after school today so there is only me and DD at the climbing club this afternoon, have told his friends mum that I’ll get DS on the way back and she seemed okay with that.

Dinner tonight is Panfried pork with saut!ed potatoes and green beans or peas can’t decide.

Got a list of chores to get done this week:
    • [STRIKE] Change beds[/STRIKE]
    • Finish washing
    • Hoover through
    • Polish
    • Clean glass
    • Clean bathroom
    • Wash floors in Bathroom, kitchen and DD’s room
    • Clean fridge
    • Clean microwave
That should keep me going for a little while.

looking very organised and busy again.
  • Morning lurkers and posters…very tired today DD woke up at 4am and decided that was it she wasn’t going back to sleep. It would have been nice if she’d been quiet but listening to her sing ABC and then merge it with Baa Baa Black Sheep all in one go is too much at that time in the morning.

I will not be grumpy, I will not be grumpy!

Anyway on to today, I need to get some housework done and go to Tesco’s for some bits and go to work and sort dinner out for tonight.

We have been invited to SiL’s house for Boxing Day this year, so I need to go through the present list and work out how many nieces and nephews I need to buy for as her children and her grandchildren are going to be there as well at various points of the day.

I’m itching for DH to get paid then I can work the budget properly, not long now but it’s so frustrating! I get paid the week after too.
  • Well didn’t get chance to update this morning due to laptop problems, I’m surprised that it is still going and I just hope it holds out a bit longer.

Not much to report on the money side of things, I bought some Christmas presents and got yet more bits from Tesco’s that we’d run out of and a new keyboard for the laptop. Total spend £40 approx, not good but I didn’t spend unnecessarily or buy stuff I don’t need.

I got a reminder through from the kids’ school that I owe for the dinners, so that’s £15 rather than £20 for the past two weeks as DD has a weeks free meals.

I really need to pull my finger out and get the housework done, it’s Thursday tomorrow for heavens sake and I’ve done nothing apart from changing the kids’ beds and some of the washing. Tomorrow I need to get some fruit and veg from the market and see my friend as well as working. I’m hoping that this is just a lull as I hate feeling like I’ve not got the energy to do anything.

Right off to hose the kids down in the shower and get the washing sorted before DH comes home.
  • Hi PurpleTea,
