:grouphug: to Westy :grouphug: to Nix and  to everyone else (though if you feel in need of a hug just take one.)

Diet began this morning (again). Going very well until.....lunchtime! Made cheese and ham muffins and when DD started eating hers (she thinks they're cakes so happily tucks in) I had one too:rolleyes:. Well dinner is low fat fajitas - as long as I don't have too much guacamole - I might be able to rescue things.

Just been shopping and spent a fortune on fish for fishpie tomorrow night- £10:eek: . Has anyone frozen fish pie before? I think I used to when I made it for DD when he was small(er) but I can't remember. I think/hope we'll have enough for another meal next week for that price.

Off to finish DDs hat, after I mop up the kitchen. DD was playing at washing up while I made the aforementioned muffins. DD is asleep (no way would I be permitted to knit if she were around)

Take care everyone - and remember, have a hug if you need one.

    Hi everyone!
Westy..I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your sister. I cannot even begin to imagine how devasting the loss must be but I know that there are support groups available for those who have lost siblings.
I myself had a fabby weekend and most productive starting off with a good OS weekly shop at Tesco. I have finally learnt to pick up the odd bargain if it's not on my list for a later date. This week it was a half priced leg of lamb which would normally be outside my price range aswell as other reduced bits and pieces.
First thing Sat am I took the small person down town to spend his pocket money on Halloween goodies from Wilko. I agreed to buy him a witches hat but I wanted him to budget with the rest of it. He carefully chose what he wanted but then put something back because he said he wouldn't have enough money left to put in the lady's charity tin outside. Awww bless!! There was a couple next to us who spontaneously gave him £2 because of his comments! I was a very proud Mum at that moment. I also got some gorgeous yarn to knit into a couple of Chrimbo scarves.
Yesterday I took it upon myself to pull out all the furniture and hoover behind [not something I do too regularly I hasten to admit] and I had a major sort through for the charity shop. Also had a crack at the weetabix choc brownies which are disappearing fast. Meanwhile the small person was tidying his room [there's is a hole in the ceiling where the bomb came through!!] and OH was repairing the free door my friend gave me before I set to and paint it. In the afternoon we walked out to our local nature reserve and enroute were able to help ourselves to some free plants someone had left out. I now have some Iris and Japanese anemones which OH has planted up. I've done the entire garden for about £20 this year with loads of really cheapie plants we've picked up at fetes etc and they're all thriving. How come though I can spend 8-10 quid on a plant [pre OS days!] at the nursery and kill it in 3 weeks!!!!
Final good bit of news was that we got out tax return....scary moment...first year self employed post redundancy....imagination running riot......£2500 refund:j :j So I've now got £50 pocket money to fritter which will be the first time in 18 months that I've had money to do with what I will. The material girl is out of her box and careering round the room as I write yelling Woo Hoo loudly!!
Best leave you poor folks in peace!!

    Hello All!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had a couple of days off as it was DH's birthday on Friday. Was a lovely weekend, quite a lot of OS yesterday, cleaned oven, washed down paintwork downstairs and wiped down banisters, they were absolutely revolting, look so much better now. The whole house is desperately in need of a lick of paint, the bathroom is almost finished now. DH has worked so hard on the bath surround and it looks amazing. Kitchen lights need to be re-done and then I think the kids room and the hallway next, would be nice to get it done by Christmas.......

Big hugs to Westy and Nix, thinking of you both, can't imagine how much you are both going through.

Rubbish day today, staff problems. Sun is shining away though.

    Have a lovely day all.

    Afternoon All

    (((hugs))) to Westy and Nix143.

    Happy Birthday Ronankfan

Kiwichick - I wouldnt dye it again myself, personally, my hairdresser told me that if you use a semi-perm twice it becomes permanent. I second the tip about Head & SHoulders. I recommend putting olive oil on your hair, wrap in clingfilm for about an hour (pref when alone in the house) then wash with Head & SHoulders. Good Luck.

Been quite productive here, 2 loads of washing done which will hopefully be ironed tonight. Downstairs floors hoovered and washed. Then popped out to run a few errands - however forgot the cheque I wanted to pay in so will have to go out again tomm.

Anyway off now, cooked a chicken yesterday which we will have for dinner tonight with roast trimmings.

    Have a great Evening.

    Thanks Catowen

that's what I'll do then. I'll make it into two batches - if people are hungry we can eat both. But knowing my kids we'll struggle to get through one.

I only have ground nut oil, do you reckon that would be any good??

Why do you put oil on first?

    Thx,

    Afternoon :hello:

Well I'm feeling somewhat more upbeat than I was earlier, probably because I've actually managed to get a decent amount of work done today ;) - I've had a real motivation problem in recent weeks, both in the office and at home!

So I intend to keep this going with the housework this evening!

I have also realised that I don't really need to spend much this week so might challenge myself to come in under £30 for all food and miscellaneous spending. The usual weekly budget is £50 but I need to make this saving because it's only halfway through the month and my "monthly overspend buffer" is already cleared out, thanks to various overindulgences! I'm going to a concert tomorrow that's already paid for and the programme will be free; I've got the core ingredients of several recipes in the freezer so will only need to top up with some fresh things. TBH I could probably manage on just £20 for the week, but I do like my £1.99 breakfast deal (cappuccino and bagel) of a morning.

Will be making a sausage casserole with some Tesco Finest sausages picked up for 20p - there's some veg in the fridge which needs using up but I will pick up some chillies and sweet potato (my sausage casserole "secret ingredients"!) on the way home! Later in the week I will do a fish pie (which, by the way Peem, is definitely freezable ;)) and a chilli, all of which will be based mainly on stuff that's already in the freezer.

So, plan for tonight involves picking up some odds and ends of groceries, making a sausage casserole, putting on a load of washing, and packing a few boxes ready for the move.

    Rzl xx

  • Afternoon Guys!

Appointment went well...and NO amputations this week:D Took aload of blood had to have a shot of vitamin D into my !!!!!! and a jab of steroids to build my lungs up as I have a chest infection still.....but apart from that..Im perfect;)

OH....bless him, has booked me into my Hairdressers tomorrow for a wash cut/blow dry and highlights. Ive been after some bleached slices through as we have 3 busy weekends ahead (including 2 weddings) and only mentioned it the other day-but wasnt too worried about it-just said it would be nice for the pictures. Some Im gonna be cropped and bleached this time tomorrow:eek:   OH said I may be in a wheelchair, but I can still look hot:rotfl: Im really hoping I can manage on the crutches for nephews wedding as I WONT be in the chair for the pics! Anyway, I thought that was quite sweet of him and he's paying for it out of his Xbox360 fund that he's been saving for the past 4 months.

OH popped to Makros this afternoon and got some bargains. He did really well and got 12 litres of milk for £1.20..so have frozen them. He also bought Organic minced mutton 500g for £1.25, so bought 5 packets. Was doing fishpie for dinner but have changed to Shepards Pie and made extra 2 portions for lunches for OH & I....bargain! I think he only spent £36 and also got 32 loo rolls, 24 bounty kitchen rolls, crisps, sugar, butter, bread and wash powder.

    Hugs to all.
