Morning Chums,
Zed you sound as though you had a very productive day yesterday well done :j
Westy (((hugs))) I do know what you are going through and it is very hard when you lose someone suddenly .You and your Mum must try to be strong for each other and take one day at a time. I lost my dear husband three years ago suddenly, and it really knocks the feet from under you.But you are so right ,tell your family at least once a week how much you love and care for them,it works wonders for them, as we all like to feel appreciated and loved . Life will get easier dear ,not better just different and you and your Mum will get through it together My two smashing girls helped me no end and still do.:grouphug:
mrs mix you had a bad night as well, I am beginning to dread the onset of winter as the damp plays havok with my joints .I think they just sieze up and I start to creak like an un-oiled gate. The joys of getting old in my case I'm afraid, plus osteo-arthritis:eek:
Well I had a pretty good week-end ,on Saturday I went to the cinema at Bluewater .What a lovely place that is ,my sis-in-law and I saw 'The Queen' and what a superb actress Helen Mirren is,she well deserves and 'oscar' for her performance. I have a Ceacard which give me one free ticket for who ever comes with me to make sure I don't fall over off my stick so we split the ticket between us and had a good night's entertainment for £4.00 each.:j
Then yesteday my DD and GD and SIL and I went to Ally Pally to the Knit & Stitch Fair and I bought lots of card making bits for my craft class.Saved myself a fortune as well. My DD like to cross-stitch and my GD likes craft stuff. My SIL just come to have a look around. It's a great show even if you aren't interested in Craft stuff. To see what people create out of different thing is really interesting .There was the model Sports car in scarlet that had been knitted !! amazing to see.We had a great day and I was worn out when I got home ,but I had to sit up and watch the Prime Suspects on the T.V. last night ,she was really good in that .I finally fell into bed at 11.10 and was fast asleep by 11.11 !!_pale_
Woke at 4.00 a.m. though ,but five hours in one go is quite good for me at this time of the year.
I must change my bed-linen today as the forecast is good and the rest of the week it's forecast wet. I have my craft class this morning so I am looking forward to that .I may shove the SC on this morning and make some veggie soup as I love a big bowl of soup when the weather starts to turn a bit cooler.Have agood day everyone and be good to your friends :beer:0 -
Westywoodpecker, I am very sorry to hear of your loss ((())).
All go in our house, OH has left for work, kids have had their breakfasts and packed lunches are made. I can't confess to being OS 100% of the time and my cake making expertise normally only stretches to fairy cakes but yeasterday we made a banana loaf and boy did it taste good, ds is very pleased as he has a slice for his lunch box. I need to make a tomato sauce to go with pasta for dinner tonight but cooking wise that is it for the day.
I had a very productive day yesterday, 25 items listed on Ebay and my target is to list another 20 today, already had some interest, so very pleased. I need to get milk from the shops after the school run but nothing major to do today, I think I might have to get out the Davina exercise dvd out!
Feeling pretty tired as I stayed up watching Prime Suspect last night (wasn't it brilliant!) and it then took me ages to go to sleep, dd visited us twice and was up at six so it would be nice if I could have a little nap with her later.
I hope everyone has a good day and ((())) to those that need it.0 -
big hugs to u westie. must be very hard for u and family.
we had a fantastic day yesterday, it hubby b'day today but he is working so we went to his parents yesterday for lunch and then in the evening we had a chinese takeaway. still feeling very full.

brekkies will be toast and ceral. ( no change there )

Tea i have some pollock fillets to use. so nice serve with soem veggie, apricot and almond rice. ( sounds odd but is soooooo yummy)
i need to also get some cleaning done. but thats at bottom of list for the min. it so much easier to clean in the evening when kids asleep.0 -
Morning all.
Westy, didn't know about your sister. That must have been such a shock for you and your family. I also will be taking your advice.
At home today, so want to make some stock from yesterday's duck carcass, for soup at the weekend. Cleared the polytunnel yesterday, so green tomato chutney also on my list. Will be inventing a smoked salmon bake from some hm blinis I found in the freezer, and making a cottage pie for later in the week. W***ing 2 days, so like to have something that is hm, but just needs heating up, rather than preparing on those days.
Aaaaarrgghh, just been sent a message re a governors' meeting tomorrow. Bang goes the family mealtime!
PP being school treasurer is enjoyable, if you like figures. My advice - take anything that's said about it being not much work with a pinch of salt! The amount of work involved depends on you and your school, and what they expect.
Have a great day!

((westy)) So sorry to read your news. A few short years ago we found ourselves in a similar situation when my BIL died and his father followed 6 weeks later. I echo what JackieO says, you can't hide under it, you won't get over it, but, you do get through it - one day at a time. Prayers being sent for you and your family ((hugs))
:hello: Good morning fellow OS'ers
Another Prime Suspect viewer hereCompulsive viewing I find. I spent my time watching it working on one of the knitted scarves I'm gifting for Christmas. One third of the way through already :j - I know that for sure because it uses 3 balls of wool and I had to start a new ball just before the end of the programme
Getting back into the swing of knitting now - even if it is only garter stitch
One Week of Freedom for me today :j Money saved: £30.98 :j Life saved: 12h 15mins
Boys have a non uniform day on Thurday and they have to wear something pink -- anyone got any ideas on pink for boys??
Arranged to go chestnutting on Thurday so I'm hoping the weather isn't going to turn too wet!
Chest is still feeling tight, but I'm back to having a bit more oomph so I want to give the house a good hoovering and dusting - sense of smell is coming back and I can smell dust (anyone else smell dust or is that just me?)
Freezer is looking healthy after yesterday's baking.
Need to go through over some more Spanish later to get my mind into gear for tomorrow. With not being well last week I didn't keep to my goal of 30 mins a day.
Chicken, furbaby and quails all fed and watered and now it's time I was too
((hugs)) to those who need them; have a good Monday ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Didnt want to get up this morning, DD was in my bed and woke up in the middle of the night to tell me she would like to got to the cinema and see the Barbie movie again (yesterdays free tickets!!!) Like a lot of people on here, i have trouble sleeping, so this wasnt welcome!!!!
Have to go to the doctors this morning for some blood tests, ready for my hospital appointment tomorrow. Think they are planning on testing my hormones as well as a load that my consultant ordered, so will prob come home with a dead arm!!!! Had a vein collapse once (PP, im sure you know where im coming from there!!!) which was horrible, so hoping they wont do that again!!!
Have 2 little ones here today, they love going to the doctors (lots of toys and books for them to play with) and they love to see me go through the tests (strange children!!!)
Right, need to go and dry my hair, hope everyone has a lovely day,
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
Morning all.
(Added edit... Westy, I've just read your post, I didn't know and I do empathise with you, having lost my Mum and FIL in the last couple of years and a sister who was brain damaged in a car crash. You will find the strength to get through the days, life is so very, very precious and the best way to honour those you love is by living a full and happy life yourself.)
============================================================
I couldn't sleep, I've been worrying about the dog. During the last week we've noticed what seems to be blood in his wee - so we'll need to collect a sample for the vet. Have you ever tried? Following him around with a container does not work. If you wait for him to start and get near, be puts his leg down and looks at you as if you've gone mad! We've been thinking of all types of solutions, but not found one yet......hint hint! He's a 7 year old golden lab, and far too young to have anything seriously wrong - but he has slowed down a lot during the last year. We love him to death (bad pun with what's going through my mind,) so we'd be devastated if this is something serious.
Another thing that kept me awake that you might be able to help with.... I need to talk to people who've taken out a buy to let mortgage in the last year. So if you, or someone you know has, and would like to earn a few pennies pm me and I'll tell you about it.
On the OS front, did lots of cooking yesterday in preparation for the week. I tried roasting a butternut squash whole for soup for today's lunch, so it'll be interesting to see if the method tastes as good as it was simple to do. (If you understand my meaning). Left over roast piggy for dinner - with loads of red cabbage. It was lovely and there's lots left :j
Hope you all have a good productive day, and hugs to all who need them (including me!) :grouphug:0 -
Morning All:hello:
(((Hugs))) Westy, thinking of you & off to tell my parents I love them later:grouphug:.
Well, I have 2 men with Man-Flu_pale_, you wouldn't think a 14 month old was capable of turning a cold into a 3 act drama would you? But nooooooo, he's just as bad as his dad! I can feel it at the back of my throat but it has been lurking for about 2 days & doesn't seem to have actually developed (yet) so I am hopeful that I am fighting it off. So maybe the vitamin pills are paying off?!;)
Today we are off to help my parents finish clearing out my great-aunts huge house (she has gone into a home), the last of the 20 (yes, 20!) rooms which she has been rattling around in for the last 60 years! We have hired a van (got it for £45 as we only want it for the day instad of £75 for 24 hours:D) as we are having a couple of big bits of furniture, including a 1920's bathroom cupboard & a brand new unlaid carpet & a set of Edwardian dining chairs:j. There are also a few big bits of good furniture which we are going to ebay for her, I am really hoping that we don't have to bring these home with us too in order to ebay, as they are big & we have a small house & 9 people comming the week after next! I know that probably sounds really ungrateful:o but we just haven't got room to have a big Victorian hall stand & a big (georgeous) 1930's china cupbaord sitting around waiting for collection (plus I'll want to keep the china cupboard:o, it's beautiful!)
So, with all that in mind the SC is loaded up with sausage casserol & the WM is on full of dirty nappies (never sure if this is a good or a bad thing?:undecided).
Hubby has just crawled downstairs, looking like the living dead & asking for breakfast. I can hear Spud playing in his cot so I guess I better get on!
Have a good day everyone:wave:Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0 -
