Well done on taking the bag back! I bet you felt much better doing that than you would have had you kept it.

You want pretty things because you have your own pretty space!

I bought 2 lots: £7.99 for 6 large polka dot ones for the table on Christmas Day and £3.99 for 6 small ones which are pink with little mice on for my DD1. She'll use them to decorate her tree I expect.

Luverly, thanks (and for the photos). I'll have a look when I go over to Sainsburys this weekend. I'll have to decide - posh ones at TK Maxx or half-price ones at Sainsburys.
  • Afternoon everyone.

Well done Snowdonlily from me also on returning the Kath Kidson bag...maybe you'll receive a similar or NICER one for Christmas;)

The crackers look lovely Maman - I have a real thing about cracker "window shopping" I could spend ages looking at the pictures on the back of all the different boxes which show the contents...the more expensive the box the better!! Of course I don't buy them....well not the expensive ones (that was the old me:o) but still love to look....

Today, I set up an o/payment on my mortgage:T possibly will regret doing so just before Christmas but want to test the water to see how much I can comfortably afford to increase my mortgage by month on month. If all goes to plan I will s-t-r-e-t-c-h the o/p's even more after New Year (I can always reduce if things get too much...no doubt they will!!)

    Cold cold cold tonight:shocked:

  • Hi everyone, hi nattypants, well done on the o/p on your mortgage

I've had a horrible couple of days. The friend I went to the cinema with last week broke down when we went for a coffee and confided in me that he has about £25k worth of debt which he can't repay, he's really struggling. I've been on the phone with the CAB till now trying to arrange an appointment for him with a debt counsellor. I didn't think it was so difficult just to get someone to answer the phone! I've managed to convince him that he needs to ask for help, and that his problems won't disappear if he ignores them......(I've learnt that the hard way!)

You get on with things thinking you're the only one quietly struggling with money problems but you never know whats going on in someone else's life, he's been keeping it all to himself for over a year :(

Otherwise, I've been a good girl this week, no more impulsive Kath Kidtson purchases, but I have to admit to buying a bottle of wine this morning. Haven't had any for a week and since I don't have to work tomorrow I think I deserve it :)

Hope everyone else is having a good week x

Just a quick reply I'm afraid - I'm really sorry to hear about your friend. I know that £25K is an awful amount to pay back and I really don't want to belittle this amount however from reading some of the rock-bottom posts in this forum people do find ways of escaping from horrendous debt whether DMPs or posting SOAs for advice...I am no expert in this area. I did have an awful lot of debt however this board helped me keep the focus and will, to get rid.

Obviously I do not know your friend's personal circumstances however I wish him well in finding a positive solution.

ps. You do deserve that bottle of wine - I think your doing marvellously:D:D:D

*pps your friend has taken that first all important step in acknowledging the debt, therefore that first step towards clearing it. Good on him!

  • Morning everyone hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Just a quick hello, I'm off to work shortly.

As DS3 would say, its been a pants week :(

If anyone tells you its possible to have an amicable divorce..........don't believe them cos its not! H is being a complete *******:mad:

I must have been completely naive to believe his Sols letter when they said they hoped we could handle this amicably and reasonably.

He wants me to pay more towards DS3's keep. I already give him more than I can afford, plus buy clothes and pay for school trips. His wages are three times what I get...............and his Sol threatened me with the CSA unless I give him 15% of my wages. That would leave me with about £20 at the end of the month. All this while he's driving around in a brand new BMW :mad::mad:

Sorry about the rant...........this diary was supposed to be positive thoughts only. I'm absolutely fuming!!
