  • Very very quiet day at work today.............this isn't good at all :(

First NSD for ages for me. I read someone else's paper and took my mobile phone charger to work and saved myself a few pennies.

Going to see DS3 after work today which is wonderful, but unfortunately means that the car will need filling tomorrow. H refuses to meet me half way so all this extra petrol is an added expense I could do without at the moment. You'd think he'd want to be seen out and about in his flash new car :rotfl:

    Things to do tomorrow:
    1. Definitely list more items on ebay without fail!

Ooh nearly forgot, two items sold yesterday......yayyy

    Hi Snowdonlily

Well done on the further ebay sales and NSD - go you!

I on the other hand just cannot seem to muster up any discipline at all at the moment.....luckily I am not in any debt (except mortgage;)) however have been in the past, and need to keep that focus. When there's soooo much I want to buy **note WANT not need** it does take a lot of will-power though.

    Current List (oh the shame:o:o:o) is;
    Ugg Boots (NOT essential!)
Sat Nav (semi-required as I have no sense of direction and travel a fair bit at times with work)
BOSE Ipod Dock (NO WAY DO I NEED THIS!)

Hope you've had a nice evening with your youngest son - that's rubbish about the petrol:(...ah the joys of running a car.

Take care and I look forward to reading your next post.

  • Hi everyone, hi nattypants

Its really cold here today and actual snow to be seen on the mountaintops (honest!).

Was really annoyed last night. Drove down to see DS3 only to be kept waiting like an idiot when he didn't turn up. His dad had taken him shopping knowing full well I'd arranged to see him. My little cottage is a 50 minute drive from where I used to live so yesterday's outing was a total waste of time and money

I absolutely will not use the boys to try and score points so it makes me mad when H obviously has no qualms about doing so

I love where I'm living now but its just too far from DS3. It was really difficult to find a long term let where I wanted it as most rental properties there are given over to holiday lets.

Had a phonecall from my Sol this morning, one more step taken towards sorting this mess out. I know they get a bad press, but I'm impressed with how quickly things are moving. It seems H is just as keen to get shot of me :rotfl:

nattypants I love the list of things you want.

    1. I'd love a new pair of Uggs too, mine have been worn to death over the past year (would sleep in them if I could).
    2. Want a new coat. Don't really need one, but will probably buy one after next payday.
    3. Want a Kath Kidston bag and a Kath Kidston cover for my iphone - these will have to wait
    4. Saw a beautiful shabby chic mirror but I spose I should wait until I get a house first :rotfl:
    5. I REALLY want a chocolate brown labradoodle!! Will probably give in to this "want" sooner or later. H doesn't like dogs and this was one thing we always argued about

Right, its lunchtime so I'm off for a walk. Might go to the woolshop to see if they have a nice pattern for a scarf and gloves for DS1's girlfriend's Christmas pressie.

No bids yet on my ebay goodies only a few watchers, but its early days.

    Have a good afternoon x

Snowdonlily, just wanted to pop in and say hello. Have been lurking for a couple of days, and lady, I like your style. :T

Well, there's no excuse for that. How extremely annoying for you. You must miss your son so much. Did DS3 know he was meant to be meeting you?

Well at least that means it can all be resolved fairly quickly. Keep an eye on him though - if he's prepared to mess you around on the little things like above, then he might be even more tricky with the important things.

Hope your wishlist comes true and sooner than you think. Love the sound of the labradoodle. :)

You are the bigger person here - your sons will respect you for your integrity

Okay - confession time:o I did buy the SatNav...not only that I used Tesco vouchers without doubling up/4X value etc etc....the ULTIMATE MSE cardinal sin:o:o:o On the plus side though I am travelling to Edinburgh on Thursday so with lady sat-nav guiding me I should save a whack on petrol as usually I get lost - in the past I have even (accidently!) travelled across the Forth Road Bridge TWICE in my "no sense of direction" adventures:eek:

Snowdonlily - re. point 5. of your "want list"....I desperately wanted a black cocker spaniel and thought endlessly about this a la law of attraction stylee. Guess what type of dog is now in my life? If you want a chocolate brown labradoodle you merely need to manifest (aka think obsessively about him/her ;))

Hope today is better for you.

My sense of direction is also atrocious. When I go somewhere new, I have to build in about half-an-hour 'getting lost' time. Sometimes I can almost hear my car scream 'Oh no, not ANOTHER U-turn'. If there is a choice of two turnings, I will pick the wrong one, every time. Hopeless.:D

    Enjoy your SatNav. :)

Just popping in to say hi and well done on your new diary. I have a friend who breeds chocolate labs, went to see the new puppies last week, they're adorable.

I hadn't realised just what a control freak your ex was. I think you need to watch him very carefully. One thing that jumps out (as well as messing you about with DS3) is the new BMW!!! Presumably you'll get a half the house plus settlement but I should make sure your solicitor knows what he's up to. I'm not a legal person but it seems very iffy to me.

I think the knitting is a fantastic idea. I did a little last year (just some doll's clothes for someone) and thoroughly enjoyed it after years and years of doing none. I saw a knitted cushion kit in John Lewis last year (ridiculous price by that guy with the Indian sounding name) and if I could find a pattern (it was sort of Aran-like) I'd have a go at one myself.

Good luck to you, you're doing famously well.

There are patterns around for Aran cushions but you could also find an Aran-like pattern for a jumper and adapt it for a cushion. The main bit you want is the stitches to make the actual Aran pattern, the cables and knots etc. The cushion is going to be just a square shape, or rectangular. You could put material on the back of the cushion rather than knitting the back as well - something linen or tweed-like would be nice.

I enjoy knitting but I'm not terribly skilled. I really want to have a go at something more advanced like Aran. My most recent creation is a nice knitted flower but that was dead easy. :)
  • Morning everyone, hi MrsB83, thanks for saying hello.

My sense of direction is also terrible nattypants. I got lost in the new John Lewis store in Cardiff and had to ask a security guard the way out. He directed me out of a different door to the one I went in so ended up phoning my friend for directions :rotfl:

Peaceandfreedom and maman, that knitted cushion sounds lovely. I think I've gone wrong with my socks, they don't look right and I have too many stitches! I think its back to asking mum for help, its hard enough keeping track of two needles never mind four :)

Hi Maman, thank you for stopping by and saying hi. You're right, he was very controlling with some things, but with others he really didn't care. It wasn't always like that though, we had some really good times during the time we were together. Its just since I've been on my own that I've realised just how little input I had into making decisions.

Don't worry, I have my eye on him re the spending. His old car was on its last legs, but in no way did he need to replace it with a BMW!

Anyway, today is a beautiful day (but v.cold) and the mountains look gorgeous with a covering of snow on the tops again.

    Things to do today:

    1. After work go to have tea with DS3
    2. Sort out some paperwork and have a look at my Christmas shopping budget.
    3. Check bank balances and print off bank statements
    4. Charge mobile phone at work

A few watchers on my ebay things but so far no bidders :(
