But why leave, it's a lovely shop!!!
Things to do today:
1. After work go to have tea with DS3
2. Sort out some paperwork and have a look at my Christmas shopping budget.
3. Check bank balances and print off bank statements
4. Charge mobile phone at work
5. Unpick socks and phone mum!:rotfl::rotfl:

I think its beyond help now Maman!
A colleague helped me out at lunchtime, only I don't think she was much wiser than me!
This is the funniest sock I've ever seen.............it must be an exceptionally difficult pattern
How do you get the quotes to show up in the box please Maman? I can't get the hang of it.
Ok, confession time. At lunch I spent:-
1. £2.80 on Essentials magazine christmas issue. Can't resist the Christmas recipes.
2. 45p on a newspaper
3. 99p on a rhubarb crumble (naughty I know).
4. 59p on a Christmas shopping App for my iphone (its really good, it keeps track of how much you've spent and what you've bought!).Total debt at LBM £26k+Total debt now £16,494.40Tesco CC 11/2/11 Total - £1,387.20 - Now £00 -

If you press the quote button (by reply) then the message you want to quote will appear in the Reply to Thread window. You can edit the quote if you only want a section of it or add comments (as I did in red to your last post). Do not delete the
at the beginning or end of the quoted post or it won't work.
Then, scroll down past the end
and you can add your own comments. These will appear outside the quote which is in a highlighted box. You have the option of previewing post as you do with any reply so you'l know if you've got it right. HTH (rather a lot of quotes:))0 -

Oh Snowdonlily - I can't imagine how tough it must be....although my two teenagers drive me beyond nuts at times I really do dread the day they move out (the utilities companies will wonder what the hell's going on also:rotfl:)
I hope you have something nice planned for the weekend to give yourself a wee boost?
The phone app sounds brilliant....I have a really sh*ty wee phone which can't even accept picture messages so iphone is definitely on my "covet" list:D
Ah well....will be testing lady satnav tomorrow so will report back in to let you know how that goes;)
Talk soon

MND - Let's go for 2020 'cos it's got a nice ring to it:D
C'mon nattypants:cool:0 -
Thanks for the instructions maman, I'll try that next time.
I'm fine now thanks nattypants, its really horrible saying goodbye. I've just got to keep telling myself that this will all be worth it in the end.
Hope everyone's having a good day, mine just got better quite unexpectedly.
If anyone reading this has a te**o clubcard, it might be worth following the link from the MSE email, and checking of you have any lost or unused vouchers.
I've just done it and found that I had £55 worth of unused/lost vouchers! I got straight on the phone to Mr T's and a nice young man told me they'll be reissued and should be with me the first week in Dec
Don't leave it too long though as he gave me the impression this will only be possible until next week.
I'm really chuffed now..........that's £55 I would have lost otherwise and not been any the wiser........so thanks MSE :T
Good luck xTotal debt at LBM £26k+Total debt now £16,494.40Tesco CC 11/2/11 Total - £1,387.20 - Now £00 -
Excellent news re T clubcard vouchers.....I checked on mine also and have a whopping £7 unclaimed! Not as good as your £55 but still:D:D:D
Thank you for highlighting this as I hardly ever check the weekly tips section:doh:
Also...thanks to you I'm definitely going to check my tax code again with IR - already checked twice in the past but am still convinced it's wrong...87L:eek::eek: and believe me I am NOT a high earner:(
Well peeps - lady satnav worked a treat for me today. Not only did she guide me safely to Edinburgh but also took me to IKEA....aaarrrgghhhhh when will I ever learn. As soon as I'm in that store I get sucked into believing that the few wee bits and pieces will not only improve my life immensely but at £5 / £3 / £6 etc. etc. they won't come to much. Lo and behold I end up splurging an unneccessary amount of dosh on items I cannot even pronounce:o:o:o
Ah well - maybe IR will produce a ginormous backdated cheque:D

Ha ha, that's so funny. :rotfl:Of course Ikea is carefully designed to make you spend on all those small things that you think won't add up to much. They even have a special name for those stacks of low-priced stuff that you can't resist. This is from a recent Daily Mail article about Ikea's founder:Once you are inside Ikea, it’s as if you have been grabbed by the hand and guided through the store to make you buy as much as possible. It’s called mechanical selling – selling without a salesperson. Ikea talks of products that ‘take your breath away’ – they are so cheap that customers cannot help but purchase them.
These items reinforce the message that all Ikea products are bargains. A bag of tea lights, pictured right, is typical bait. They are stacked in bins known as ‘open-up-the wallet’ because they contain impulse products the customer grabs as if by reflex because they are so cheap. Once a customer is hooked, other items will follow.
Those ugly yellow and blue plastic bags, known as ‘Ingvar’s bags’, are ideal for customers to carry all those things they never knew they needed. And bargains are always placed at the best height for picking up.
The whole article is here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1319156/Ikeas-flat-pack-Fuhrer-Furniture-chain-founder-branded-tight-fisted-neo-Nazi-new-book.html
I'm the same in Ikea - it is very hard to resist their clever marketing. I suppose the key would be to set a very definite 'splurge' budget for all those things we don't need.0 -
Interesting IKEA lines, I don't go to the place anymore. I used to go maybe once every 18 months 'cause it is a bit far. The last 2 times, I was so peeved at having to go myself and find the chest of draws that I wanted to buy in their shelf etc that I left all my to-be-purchases on the spot and left (I was going to have to pay and really cannot stand that I have to do all the leg work to get the piece of furniture); the 2nd time (and last time) was to remind me that I hated the place and I recalled the previous experience so that is it; I am not going as a matter of principle. (Besides they overcharge for CC payment - now I use my CC for everything because I pay it in full at the month end and gather points on it so not an MSE crime
).
MFW on your mark0 -
What an interesting link Peaceandfreedom - really makes you think doesn't it......I used to work for a dictator brrrrrrr:(
Karom - I refuse to use my CC in IKEA as completely disagree with the extra charge....I love their coffee and candles etc. too much though so although I make very infrequent trips, I know I'll go back:o:o:o
I hope that everyone's had a good end to their week and have nice things organised for the weekend....I currently have washing machine on and will probably do some tidying this evening. Rock and Roll!!! It's sooooooo cold just now I am definitely not built for the Scottish climate and just want to sit with the heating turned up (boo to British Gas for the price hike by the way:(), nice glass of red, and a hot-water bottle for added comfort - I LOVE my HWB
Hope you're okay snowdonlily:wave:
