Can you afford to buy an oil filled radiator, cost about £50 for a 2kw one?
Having plenty of heaters isn't the issue.
A 2kW heater will use 50 quids worth of electricity in only 10 days!
(it needs to be constantly on to heat one room at all (if it wasn't insulated).

these use loads of eleccy.. best of having the hermostat set on 17 degrees it will cost less than using one of the radiators all day..

Husband on DLA and we are in receipt of HB and CTB, heard that it is up to energy companies discretion if people on DLA get cold weather payments? Is this correct. Was advised to ring our energy company.

You are thinking of the Warm Homes scheme, which has different criteria. The criteria for CWPs are on the first page of this thread.

Yes, but if you qualify it will be under one of the discretionary criteria. If you contact your energy supplier they should be able to tell you if you are eligible, it varies between suppliers.

Why is it when ever something like this comes out it never covers Incapacity beneift.

Thanks to this thread, I've discovered we may be eligible for the £120 rebate.
    But I'm not sure.

on the Eon website (our provider) it states:

    Section 2
Confirmation of benefits (tick all that apply)
Income related employment and support allowance
    Income support
    Income based Job Seekers Allowance

    We are on Income Support.

    Section 3
Confirmation of benefits (tick all that apply)
    Pensioner Premium
Child Tax Credit-including disability or severe disability elements
    Disabled child premium
    Disability or severe disability premium
Child under 5 living in property

This is where I'm not so sure. On our latest IS letter it states:

"Because your partner has reached the minimum age where he can apply for pension credit and you or your partner are sick and disabled."

So is that the "Pensioner Premium" and/or "Disability Premium"?

Or would I be better phoning Eon and checking?

    Thanks for any help.

Because IB is not means tested. If you qualify for an IS top up you will be eligible.

I didn't get anything last year but I was told all along I'd be getting my £25 for each week. I'm glad I didn't believe them as nothing ever got paid, I found out why earlier this week, I'm still on CB ESA since '09, bah!

Only problem I can see with the time limits on CB ESA is surely it would push up the payments of this CWP up if a majority go onto IB ESA?
