Mine never came through, meant to chase it up but then middle son got rushed into hospital, eldest son was going through a diagnostic process and it completely slipped my mind.

I will be more on the ball this year though.....

If yours is to do with CTC, then I think IS have to contact CTC. Whereas I was on JSA with DP, so it was just done automatically.

yes dundee PS centre does cover her area, as far as I am aware the scans that show the payments issued are not in yet, so will not be able to check if they have been issued, she will need to check her account as sometimes payments have gone in before people get their letters so I would do that first before phoning. also bearing in mind the letter states it takes up to 14 days for payments which are not done through the Pension Centres

Thank you so much for your reply, and thanks for putting me right about Dundee,I just presumed wrongly lol that all pensions came from Cardiff,I have not rung her back yet ,will ring thursday and see if she has had a payment yet, down here in MK I had my second payment wednesday 15th,she is not able to get out everyday to check bank a/c,and I am not sure how far the bank is away from her,

But once again THANK YOU so much for your help and advice on here, from yourself and others

Received a payment this morning. I think I should'n't have done. Will phone DWP tomorrow about this. (date was for 27 nov - 3 december - signed off JSA on Dec 2)
In order to qualify for a CWP you need only be in receipt of a relevant benefit for a minimum of one day during the period of cold weather. This means you do qualify for the CWP you have just received.
  • The Met Office have notified the Department for Work and Pensions that 3 periods of very cold weather have occurred in the CV6 postcode area between 1 November 2010 and 14 December 2010, triggering Cold Weather Payments.
If you have qualified for Cold Weather Payments since 1 November 2010 and live in this postcode area, you are due to receive 3 Cold Weather Payments.
Please bear in mind that you should not expect payments immediately. You should receive a payment to your account within 14 working days.
  • Can I ask how Income Support know how to contact CTC in regard to child disability premiums, I still haven't received any payments lol

    Exactly what does this mean?
My husband is retired and had pension credit up til 2 months ago when we crept £2 :( over the thresh hold and lost it along with carers allowance. I am registered disabled and have DLA and Incapacity Benefit.
Now it appears we no longer get cold weather payments? I have my central heating turned off when I am alone in the house to save money. It's so cold here and we have had 2 triggers since Nov
I think disabled people should get CWP anyway but what can you do?

They aren't silly and it annoys me that no one is shouting about what is going on.

By taking people out of the Income Support system they become ineligible not only to cold weather payments but also community care grants and and budgeting loans.

In advance of the enforced moves from Income Support to Child Tax Credit my husband and I were lured onto it with the misinformation that we would then become eligible for help with child care costs - untrue if both disabled as one needs to be on Working Tax Credit - and we weren't allowed to go back onto Income Support as were were told everyone was coming off it.

I'd like to know how they can justify making so many needy disabled people who are at home just the same as the elderly with the need for heat ineligible. We are on DLA, zero taxable income (neither Severe Disablement or Protected Invalidity Benefit are taxable), receive child tax credit exemptions from health care costs and free school meal which is a widely accepted marker for low income and yet we are ineligible for cold weather payments and help with major or emergency replacements through the community loan/grant schemes.

How can the older disabilty payments be truely 'protected' if they make you ineligible for other payments? Surely that is retrospectively changing those benefits by stealth as it was illegal for them to make changes to those benefits?

    z :(

There's been a number of weather stations that have reported a forecast of cold weather from today (16/12) to 22/12 which have led to further triggers for some areas, most notably for people living in the London area which have now had two triggers. Almost 1.5m people who qualify for CWP have had a further trigger today.

HMRC contact the DWP to pass on the information of people who qualify - or at least they are supposed to.
