You will probably find that you will download apps then get rid of them at a later date because they dont suit your needs. Best to just have a play around with your phone and see what suits you best.0 -
Most of them are self explanatary.

If anyone knows of a good UK weather app I'd like to hear please.
I use Weatherbug. It recognises my location no problem (the depths of NE England) and gives a 7 day forecast.
I have only had my phone a few weeks though so am still 'trialling' apps.
Some of the apps I like are:
Out of Milk
Barcode Scanner
Google Sky Maps
Blade Wifi Fix (to reconnect automatically the Sanfancisco to Wifi)
Compass
Google Goggles (not used it yet but recommended by the Gadget Show)
Pingchat (as above)Ditch 100 in January Challenge 100/100
Ditch 100 in February Challenge 114/100
Ditch 100 in March Challenge 100/100
Ditch 100 in April Challenge 75/1000 -
I use:-
Barcode Scanner (scans barcodes for use in other apps)
Amazon Kindle (I have a Kindle so this is good)
BBC Sports News (to save me going on the web to the site)
eBay
Facebook
Out of Milk (great for shopping lists)
Premier League (for instant scores)
Shopper (use it with the barcode scanner to search for products online)
SMS Backup + (backs up your SMS messages to your GMail account)
Sudoku Daily (for when I have a few spare minutes)
Yell.com (for local searches)
I'm going to keep an eye on this thread though for some more!0 -

Wow lots of interesting replies! Thanks folks! Hope the thread is useful to others too.
I have downloaded the amazon kindle app, and have had a look. I haven't really tried it out properly as the next book I am reading for my reading group is really expensive in kindle format - £12 when you can buy it new on amazon in paper for £2! I think I will try it soon though and see how I get on with it, if I like the idea then I know whether to get a proper kindle or not.
I've also downloaded free versions of tetris, solitaire, sudoku and chess (which made me realise how out of practice I am at chess - had a couple of VERY quick games!).
Then I downloaded RAC for traffic, compass, sky map, and one or two other bits an pieces.
Like the sound of the out of milk app - will download that today.
Think I'll try AA too, I was unimpressed with the RAC one when I was stuck in a massive queue of traffic today!0 -
I find the Kindle app really good for all the free classics you can get on it. You're right about the paper version being cheaper, it's the same with CDs verses mp3s - £7.99 for an iTunes album or £3 CD from Amazon (which you can rip to mp3s anyway). Madness!
Thanks for posting this thread, I just got my first Android smartphone too so this is very helpful!
I'd like to find a good app for creating and viewing word documents, I know there's that Documents to Go but at nearly a tenner it's a bit pricey. Love the idea of using my phone with a bluetooth keyboard for uni work (as in, like an even smaller netbook). Hope OpenOffice bring out something (I think they have one that lets you view documents, but not create/edit them?).0
