Thanks for the post Op. Im a newbie to apps too and have htc desire .
I have -
Ebay
Hoy uk deals
Appbrain market- another app market
Sky+ - so i can record program when im away .
Swype- its a quicker keyboard. Some people dont like it as u basicall swipe your finger over the screen. However I love it . I heard Big keyboad great too, as the keypad ob the desire is awful.
I also like novelty/ fun apps. So have TALKING TOM CAT and Angry birds , which makes me angry playing it .
I think to uodate the keyboard, the camera and a decent battery & app killer are the main things I feel I need.
Tried advance apps killer & it was rubbish.
What kind of things do you like OP, might give people an idea what to recommend.
Ah right the lady said app killer, but when I went to download it I could only find advanced app killer so I downloaded that one - I'll look for the standard one shall I???
Not really sure what I want in the way of apps, with my old phone the main things I did (aside from calls and texts) were facebook and maps/sat nav.
I don't use twitter.
I'd be interested in traffic reports as I do a long commute. Umm it is difficult to know what I want when I don't really know what is out there.
I'm not massively bothered about games, the only time I play them is occasionally when I'm bored waiting for an appointment or a train or something like that.
I used to use my old phone for music and I'd be interested in listening to stuff on bbc i player on my phone as well as just mp3 and radio.
I'd be interested in being able to do my internet banking on the phone.
Oh and I enjoy hill walking, is there anything using the GPS that would give me suitable maps for hiking rather than the normal google maps? maybe a compass too?
Oh and I downloaded call meter 3G, but couldn't quite work out how to use it yet, I want to keep a track of where I am with my inclusive data and calls.
Thanks for the help!0 -

I've a HUGE list of must have android apps! ^_^ lol
But narrowed it down to top 10 or so...
The 2 you REALLY need for an HTC are "SMS Backup+" and "Titanium Backup Pro"
There's a bug in HTC's messaging program that permanently wipes all SMS's SMS Backup+ backs up your SMS's to your Gmail account (you can read them via Gmail, very handy! lol) it also backs up your Call log to a Gmail calender.
Titanium Backup Also can copy your backup to a Dropbox account so all your apps and settings can be saved (DON'T do this over 3G!)
Other apps:
Kindle
3G watchdog
Net Counter (like 3G Watchdog but I like it's layout more!)
gTamSiMiClock (clean simple digital clock with weather readout.)
Switch Pro Widget
YouTube
CardioTrainer
All Google apps! (Obviously lol)
Dropbox (usefull to sync docs between phone and PC)Laters

Ebay
BBC news
Bt Fon
Adobe reader
Four square
Google sky map
Paper toss
Real radio
Sky +
BT phone book
Yell.com
Swiftkey
Friend stream
I've tried loads of games but Angry birds is by far my favourite obsession.

Facebook app anyone lol0

oooh what's the kindle app like?
I was toying with the idea of asking for a kindle for my birthday so using the phone as a kindle would be amazing!!!!!0 -
Kindle app is good.
Not much too it ^_^
The sync feature is nice, you pick up where you left off not matter what device you were reading before.
The screen is a bit small for long reading sessions.
The Actual Kindle is great on the eyes, you can read it for hours!
But I can usually only manage an hour or so reading my mobile screen before it gets hard to read and sore on the eyes.
I'd not make my Desire HD my primary E-Book reader, it's ok if you've a 20 mins or so to waste..Laters

Have to agree with most of the recommended apps so far, I have had my Desire HD for a month and love it...one of my fav apps is 'cheezeburger' it has lots of funny pics, captions etcIf you obey all the rules...you miss all the fun!! Katherine Hepburn0
