you dont need to download an app for that and waste internal memory. you can use the 'power control widget' available from the settings menu on your htc desire to control wifi/bluetooth/airplane mode/screenbrightness/gps at the touch of a button. or you can use the power button long press option which gives a pop up for similar features controlling some of the above including mobile network. or you could instal the mobile network widget from the settings menu.
You dont need to do even any of the above if battery life is an issue. You could caliberate and do other stuff to improve battery life. see tutorials below

i get decent battery life using these methods even wheen working in poor reception areas which are known to drain battery quicker.
you could also read my thread about signal problems on htc desire and the solution, a thread started by me over a year ago and many have found the suggestions there helpful. i replied to some posts on that thread yesterday. see if the option for 'gsm auto prl' settings from the test menu explained in my thread help you get a better battery life. My battery life and signal has vastly improved since using that setting over the last year on my htc desire. see that thread for more info. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2523297 best of luck.bubblesmoney :hello:0 -

Can anyone recommend a good compass app? I've tried a few and they are out by at least 10 degrees and either need a long time on flat surface to stabalise or recalibration every time!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

I think it's a hardware problem that cannot be solved by changing the software. What can you expect from a compass shoved into a microchip?0

Yup, an electronic compass crammed into an already crowded space isn't going to be the most accurate. A £10 compass will do a better job...and if you get rain on it...no worries, and if you drop it...no worries.0
