All this talk of take-away fairies is making me hungry! I'm having cod, chips and mushy peas tonight to keep them away but I think the wine fairy will be visiting.

Does anyone have a simple recipe for chicken or beef curry? Last month I made the lamb dhansak from SW mag and we're about to eat our last portion tomorrow. Next I'd like to try a beef or chicken one. If possible I'd like to only have to use the curry powder I bought for that recipe rather than buy extra spices.

Hi all you lovely people, am a little short of money this month have had to pay car insurance and with christmas coming and all that. I have had a look thru cupboard and freezer and have found some items which I think may not be too high in syns, I would bee grateful if one of you lovely people would be kind enough to check please

Morrisons dried mushroom risotto dried 120g

    Iceland Lean beef mince 9.5gfat/100g

Birds eyebasa fillets in a chilli and lemongrass butter sauce

    Will post todays food later

    Many thanks

    Kathy

I can't find the risotto listed, and meat is free if it's a red day, and it's lean, so I'd say that's OK. If you dry fry it, or make burgers from it and grill them, and then drain off any excess fat juices, you'll be fine I'm sure.

Birds Eye Simply, Chunky Basa Fillets with a Chilli & Lemongrass Butter Sauce, twin pack, frozen 140g each

3 Syns on Extra Easy Original 3 Syns Green 9 Syns

What curry powder is it hun? Mild, Medium or Hot?

This is a basic recipe that i base all my curries on (free on SW :))

Slice some onions (2 big ones for 4 people) which i slowly fry in a pan with frylight until they are all soft. Add your meat and curry powder and fry for a couple of minutes. Add some stock (same stock as the meat you're using) and bring to boil and then simmer until the stock reduces a bit. Take off heat, for a couple of minutes and add some fat free natural yoghurt (fingers Xd it shouldn't curdle!!)

Of course you can add some peppers or mushrooms and other veggies to boost superfree if you wish!
All hail to the sale!!!!!!

Right Im back from a trip to Asda ....stocked up with some more supplies and melons (2 for £3 still) and a bit more organised with todays meals. Its mighty windy out there and had to resort to the zimmer today :mad::mad: not at all impressed....but I would have been less impressed at falling on my face getting to the car I suppose :rotfl:

    Green day as planned

Brekkie was melon & some more melon

Lunch was a nice big bowl of confused soup (which is more like seriously disturbed stew :o but tastes very nice :p) and 2 satsumas

Tea is going to be a bit of a funny one.....A pack of Panini somehow jumped in my trolley  and I didnt even notice til we were at the checkout ( flipping PMT fairies:o) so It would be rude not to use them wouldnt it???
so Im thinking - Tuna & cheese melt with sw chips & salady bits to show willing;) (how naughty lol)
(113g tuna HEB 28g cheese HEA)
Panini (cant find Asda listed anywhere - but a quick trawl on minimims says tesco are 10 and M&s are 12.5) Im going for the highest to be on the safe side.

Ive already had 1 HEA for my milk in teas this morn.....so Ive got a HEB left for the choccy fix fibre plus bar later tonight. All in all it feels like a pretty good plan to keep the PMT monster at bay and all for just 12.5 syns :T:T

Thats basically how I do most of my curries...I do try getting a bit clever sometimes throwing other spices in.....but you cant beat the good old basic tried and tested faithful ones can you :D

AND WHY DO THE FAIRIES SEEM TO LAUNCH A FULL SCALE ATTACK ON ALL OF US AT THE SAME TIME EVERY NOW AND AGAIN :mad::mad:

Im craving naughty stuff today so badly its just not funny:EasterBun

    Good afternoon all....
well done to those with loses :Tand "chin" up to those with ickle gains this time around !!!

Well its a manky ole day here again -its lunging from calm n dry to gale force (is that you dizzy? ;)) and belting it down -and everything inbetween :T -

so I didn't get to have my walk to the supermarket today -hubby dropped me off and picked me up when I had done ;) -and they didn't have my blinkin hoisin sauce or 5 spice powder anyway  -I only forgave them because they had my activia intensely on offer (€1.49 instead of €1.99) :D -So Im now back up to 56 in the fridges :j.....should keep me going for a while :p

Well Im going for a red day today and it looks like this:-
    • 250ml semi (A)
    • apple
    • roast chicken
    • fresh beetroot
    • 1 apple
    • 2 pears
    • home made "ox" burgers
    • home made wedges:-
    • 198g potato (B)
    • 1/4tsp oil (0.5)
    • leonslaw (0.5)
    • activia intensely (2.5)
    • fibre plus (B)
    • 250ml semi (A)
So that will be 2A+Bs and 3.5syns -so I will see if I need any more syns later.... I doubt it -but I can always squidge another activia in mmmmmmmm

OOhhh whilst I was shopping I picked hubby up some more ice-cream .... a tub of walnut with maple syrup (which we know is nommy) and as I wanted to try it -he has also got marzipan with choc swirls :D...... Now I only ever pinch 1tsp of his ice-cream so I don't feel Im missing out (I used to be an ice-cream demon :p) -so I will charge myself 1syn if he opens it later .... they have some cracking varieties out here :D

Sarymclary/kaydn -watch out with the mince as its supposed to be EXTRA lean mince for it to be free ;)
Well I have done the burger mix and the leonslaw and they are sat in the fridge developing -if they taste anything like as nice laster as they did when I tasted them as I made them -I WILL be posting recipes later ;)
Vixie- I will post you the Yangchow fried recipe later -but for us it wasn't quite right (don't think it will make it on the *do again* list) -we both prefer my special fried rice concoction :p
-Right I will get off and catch up -have a great afternoon all -and keep up the great work!!!!

    AHhhhhhhh..... I'm so hungry!

Actually I think it might be more of a sugar craving as I've had a huge bowl of pasta for lunch about an hour ago. So it can't be proper hunger, can it? Seriously though, I could resort to chewing on my own arm at this rate!!:o:o

Anyone else find this sort of thing in the first few days? I am almost certain that no amount of nice, healthy, free food will make even the smallest difference to how I feel. I could have my kitkat now but I think I might just lose control completely and empty the entire contents of the kitchen down my neck:eek:

    Any advice dear friends?

:rotfl::rotfl: Sorry for laughing....Im feeling the same today.....but mines PMT, and the fairies are attacking everyone at the mo trying to sabbotage our efforts

If ever I think Im starving when Ive just eaten loads - I have a big drink of water as its usually just that im thirsty.....but if you really are hungry get a yog or some fruit. How much pasta did you have for lunch? was it enough to fill you up? remember you shouldnt be getting hungry, and as long as you're reaching for the 'good stuff' rather than the 'naughties' you can have as much as you want ;)

I have no advice really as I always cave in.. but on those few occassions I haven't, it's because I've gone off to put clothes away or something and then forgotten :) Try drinking some water and eating some gum?

  • Hey everyone, well done on the losses and everything this week :D

I've gained 1lb this week, but I did get weighed when I had just eaten at Nando's and had about 4 glasses of diet coke so i'm hoping it was mostly water weight :rotfl:

Been slightly naughty these few days, so sorry for a bulk food diary posting.

    EE - WEDNESDAY
    Breakfast
    · 26g bran flakes & milk (HEA & HEB)
    Lunch
    · ham, pasta, lettuce and cucumber
    · southern fried fridge raiders (2.5)
    · BGTY maple cereal bar (3)
    Tea
    · Nandos chicken pitta with chips

    TOTAL = 5.5 + nandos

So yeah, went to Nandos for tea after work as we were going to cinema, and had the naughty option of chips instead of rice :o I did leave about half of the pitta bread though so hoping it's not too many syns there, had 9.5 left for the nando's food so not too bad.

    GREEN - THURSDAY 11th
    Breakfast
    · 56g bran flakes & ss milk (HEA & HEB + 3)
    Lunch
    · new potatoes, lettuce, cucumber & wafer thin ham (2)
    · apple
    Tea
    · pasta bake using passata, with mushrooms and peppers
    · Mini walls twister (2.5)
    Other
    · 500ml can of Magners ???????????
    · 25ml morgans spiced (2.5)
    · McDonalds hamburger (12.5)

    TOTAL = 22.5 not including magners :o

I also went to a gig last night and did not think for a second about the syns in cider, I just bought it and then had a naughty hamburger from mcd's afterwards  could someone tell me how many syns in the Magners please so I can work out a more accurate syn value, thanks.
    EE FRIDAY 12th
    Breakfast
    · curly wurly (6)
    Lunch
    · ham sandwich with WW wholemeal bread (HEB), with cucumber and beetroot
    · muller light
    · banana
    Tea
    · WW tomato and basil chicken with wedges (5.5)
    Snacks
    · apple

    TOTAL = 11.5

and yes, I did have a curly wurly for breakfast, so not the best start to the day BUT onwards and upwards eh ;) ?!?! I have been trying harder to get more superfrees in and now have both apples and bananas in the house :A going to work tonight so will use the rest of my syns on something for after my shift, probs an apple and a alpen light.

I know this is a bit late on in the thread but a few pages back people were talking about a minimum BMI and that for joining and such. Just wanted to say why i'm doing SW. Basically when I started Uni last year I put 9lbs on in about three months and i'm only 5' 3' and a peanut, so it showed and pushed me into the overweight boundry of my BMI. So when I came back to uni this year I wanted to make sure that didn't happen again and at the moment if I put 5 more lbs on I shall be technically 'overweight' again. So it's more of a prevention diet really, would like my BMI to be exactly 22.5 to make it the middle of the middle and hopefully fit back into my size 10 jeans that I refuse to get rid of :rotfl: But I seem to be STS at the mo, but I'm still pretty happy with that. I know I don't have much/technically anything to lose but I love hearing everyone's stories and the support here :j

also according to my BMI readings I could technically weigh 8st 2lbs and still be 'healthy' :rotfl: so thats what, over a stone and a half I could lose, fat chance :rotfl: I'd dissappear!

I would like to pick peoples brain on lunch idea's. I'm getting slightly board of pasta salads, so I was wondering what people have that is still yummy to have cold? I actually can't think of anything at all! TIA :D
