I love this thread - it is sooooooooo motivating to read through - thanks guys:T

Quick question - I posted the other day about skinny cow ice lollies which i put the pkt info through the syn calculator and they came out at 2 1/2 syns each - someone posted and said the syn hotline had said they were 3 1/2 - so do they have a different way of working things out? How can I know whats right?

I have my pork marinating in the fridge for the slow cooked pork as a friday night treat and i have tried options coconut drink tonight - oh yum yum.

The syns calculator is rarely accurate IMO. It depends on all sorts of factors, but it does give you a rough estimate to be going on with. In this instance you could try the 20 calories = 1 syn. Since Skinny Cow aren't going to be laden with either fat or sugar, I would think the calculation would be fairly accurate (fingers crossed, lol).

I am also going to take along my 12 y/o son, who has gained quite a bit of weight this year, to a point where I'm now worried about it. I want him to learn to take control of his healthy eating when he's away from the home, and hope that if he feels we're 'in it together' he'll feel OK about it. At the moment any mention of weight gets him very tearful and defensive (oh how I remember that feeling at his age, having always been overweight). He has agreed to go, and even read through the SW magazine last night, saying what meals he liked the look of. He seems positively keen!

    Today I'm planning this:
    B - porridge, muller lite & banana
L - bacon omlette with mixed salad
D - chicken, baked potato, with carrots, leeks & peas.
250ml milk for my cups of tea today
Snacks - plums, apple, banana, s/f jelly

Does that sound about right? Am I missing out a fibre?

For anyone who has this month's magazine, the 'inspired' story on P.28 is a friend of mine on facebook (he's more of a friend of my oldest friend), but that's my little claim to SW fame for today!:rotfl:

Whoa, am I speaking to a celeb? :rotfl:

Your son should benefit from Free To Go. He will have his own card, books etc and get weighed each week. Most members will encourage and help him all they can :)

I had several children in my group last year and one of them did incredibly well - outstripped her Mum in fact. One of the others didn't lose much each week, but you could see it was working....I made a point of telling him regularly that as a child he was still growing upwards so making wise choices in snacks (not giving in to peer pressure when the tuck shop is open) is enough and to aim, not necessarily to lose weight, but to put lots of effort into not gaining any. Over time he will get slimmer and if you can encourage him to take up a sport it will definitely help.

Your menu for today looks good. Your porridge is a HEB and milk the HEA - I assume you're doing EE so you only get one of each. Don't forget your syns though...the jelly would be synned but I don't see anything else and you should be having about 10 a day :D

Check that the nutritional info is exactly the same and I don't see why not :)

Pennylane: I see that someone else answered your query, but I have retired as a Consultant so don't have access to syns online any more, sorry :(

    Hi everyone

Hope you don't mind me joining in. I did SW a couple of years ago and lost just over a stone, but have put it back on :o Anyway, having another go, but doing it at home.

I know I have seen it somewhere, but can someone please confirm for me that the Muller Light Choc Sprinkles are 'free'

If not, I have some serious backpedalling to do :rotfl:

Anyway yesterdays food was ok with 5.5 syns :D. Will post todays when I decide what I'm having for tea.

So a BIG welcome to the newbies, a BIG well done to Dizzy :p and hugs to all that need them :A.

No these are called Jacobs Flatbreads (although they're a cracker) and they're much larger than a Savour. Thanks.

hello all! I was pointed in this direction by a friend - I'm usually to be found on the old style board. I'm a SW target member , lost nearly 2 stone - been there 3 years next February and never been out of my target range:A;)
but its not all been plain sailing staying there.
I still go to group as I'm now a helper and this is whats helped me stay on track for so long.

I'm always looking out for good tried and tested recipes as I think change is good for us.

Last week I tried the Melanzane alla parmigiana(basically aubergine bake) from the new calendar and found it to be very tasty - in fact I'm having it again this weekend.

I forgot to mention I usually follow green because I dont eat meat and only a little fish.
I've noticed one familiar face here ! Hi Flutterby:wave:

I look forward to reading all your tips:)
    Do what you love :happyhear
