  • Just back from WI - lost 0.5 pound - over the moon as this takes me back to my pre-honeymoon weight - which is my lightest at 6 stone 7.5 pound loss!:j:j
  • Evening all

WI last night - lost 1/2lb. On one hand i'm happy about that as I had SUCH a dreadful week and thought I would put on. On the other hand I'm p*ssed off about it because my friend had an equally (if not more) naughty week, lost 3 1/2 lb  and got SOTW for the 2nd time in a month! ;) Not that i'm competitive at all ;) but I've had equal losses to her just in different weeks and not got SOTW :( . She's 2lb ahead of me now so I'm gonna be DAMN good this week to beat her :D

(note: I am not actually angry, as I'm damn proud of her, just competitive/jealous :D )

Either way, that's 10lb in my first 4 weigh ins, not to be sneezed at :D

    Today's mealplan is/was:
    B: banana and yoghurt
L: 300g covent garden minestrone soup - just found out according to syns online this is 5 1/2 syns?!?! For vegetable soup?!?! wholemeal roll (b) , satsuma, 2 fresh figs, persimmon , hifi bar (B)
D: quorn sausage casserole (2 syns for sachet mix), jacket potato

Trying SO HARD not to touch sweet stuff, I have learnt that I'm incapable of having 'just a bit'!

What sausage casserole satchet mix did you use?? Thanks:beer:

ok now i know i am going to zizzi for dinner i am changing over to a green day so i can have more cheese!

    now ;

    b - hifi (heb), cheesecake muller (1)
lunch - muller, 2 babybel (hea), snack a jacks (4.5)

snacks - plums, satsumas (apples had gone mouldy opps)

dinner - mixed salad starter with balsamic vinegar on only
spaghetti pomodoro = pasta (doubt this is fresh?),
    tomato,
    basil,
half a mozzarella ball (2nd hea and heb - no idea how heavy a ball is lol),
oil (not sure why or how much but there is always abit in the bottom of my bowl when i have this)
and might have side order of green beans

so i think in need to add a few syns for the oil in the tomato sauce and maybe a couple in case the pasta is fresh??

Hmm. I'd be tempted just to ask the restaurant what goes into the pasta - I think fresh pasta isn't free on SW because it's generally got oil in when it's packaged (to stop it sticking together). Therefore if made fresh without oil i wouldn't syn it, but if made fresh with oil, i would. If it's dried, no syns of course.

Re. syns for oil... i can't find any calorie or ingredients info for it, but on WW the spaghetti pomodoro is 6 points. Having done WW i know the vast majority of that would be on the pasta. So i would assume there's only a little bit of oil on the pasta to stop it sticking together.

Of course, I may be talking b0llocks! :D

(restaurants do drive me nuts though, when I went to Ask last week i wanted the banoffi pie (my favouritist dessert ever :D ), which of course was the ONLY pud not labelled vegetarian on the menu. The restaurant staff could only respond that it 'probably' contained gelatine (shouldn't they know the ingredients in their food?!). Fresh banoffee pie should not contain gelatine  )
  • What sausage casserole satchet mix did you use?? Thanks:beer:

    Colmans - it's 7 syns for a sachet, i'll eat about 1/3 , and i don't count 1/3 of a syn ;) (not actually made it yet)

Wouldn't it depend on how tall you are? I'd love to drop several dress sizes but I'm really not optimistic that each one is half a stone. When I was 10 stone, I bought size 16 clothes, and I still buy that size now... although there are a few more bulges at the seams to represent the additional 4 stone!
Maybe I was wearing clothes that were far too big...?

Think it would depend on how much you weigh too, I went from 17st to 21st and only went up 1-2 sizes (22 to 24/26). I've lost 10lbs and most certainly am nowhere near fitting in a 22 :o
  • weeeeelllll I had a day's leave today and went to Chester and (after quite a bit of looking and trying on) got a pair of SIZE 10 trousers! From East. So I suspect their sizes are a half inch bigger perhaps as the other size 10s I tried wouldve been ok perhaps for jeans, but not a good look for work, you know the old camels hoof thing? I do measure, have done since my first week, and it's approx monthly, and I've just looked and have lost 20" altogether. I measure chest, waist, hips and each thigh. I wish I'd measured calves and upper arms but never did, but bought knee high boots today and they did up!!!!! Gotta go, hairdresser appt at 6.15! talk soon, hugs to all *don't hug dizzy too tightly, you don't know what might happen!*
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

    thank you Slimming World!

    Hello everyone,
I`ve just found this thread and wondered if I could join ? Over the last 4 or 5 years I have put on two stone in weight and want to get it off and keep it off. I have never dieted before, but my youngest sister goes to SW and says it`s very good. I really don`t want to be doing much weighing and counting of stuff (probably not the best of things to NOT want to do when dieting), but my sis says SW isn`t so bad that way and there are lots of free foods I can eat without all that. I`m not really sweet toothed, would prefer a lump of cheese to chocolate and quite like the look of the Extra easy plan.
What has made me decide to finally go on a diet is, we are going out with friends for a meal tomorrow and I went to buy a dress yesterday and got such a shock when I looked in the mirror, I carry most of my weight round my tummy (blame a liking for lager at the weekend) and I looked like I did when I was 6 month pregnant ! I really want to drop a few pounds so I look better for Christmas, so intend to start properly after this weekend (get the long planned meal out of the way first) then go for it. Between now and Monday though I am trying to ease myself into things and get my head into the SW mindframe as it were.
I am 10st 13lb and would love to get back to my 9st 2lb, but would settle for losing a stone and a half. If I could lose half a stone before Christmas I would be really happy. I`m 5 ft 6 so my BMI is ok, I just don`t feel ok if you know what I mean ? I feel overweight and sluggish and now pretty depressed at the sight of my tummy.
I can`t really get to a meeting regularly, as I live in a rural area, don`t drive and the transport system is pretty grim as to frequency of service. I have a friend who does drive who might be persuaded to go with me, she has said she needs to lose weight, but she mentioned after Christmas and I want to start ASAP. I did think about joining online and doing it that way, but feel that I`d fall by the way side through lack of support, having no-one to ask questions of if I`m unsure about things, or contact with anyone else who is also trying to lose weight, which is why I was thrilled to find this thread. I do hope no-one minds me joining in ?

Hi and welcome to the thread!! We are more than happy for you to join in our merry club!! :)

I do SW from home and use this forum as one of my main support tools :) (plus aliscrapper is my friend outside the forum and she has been great support throughout my journey :D) I've lost 5 stone since February :) Ok, from home you have to be much more disiplined but like you i had that moment (last xmas actually) where i thought "jesus i have to do something about this" and just thinking about being that weight again is enough to keep me disiplined! They recommend joining a group but if you dont there is a great SW group right here :)

I know that MRSMCAWBER is an online member and has done fabulously!!

So.. feel free and ask as many questions as you like. There will always be people here to answer your questions; to cheer you on as the pounds drop off and to also help you if you get disheartened :)

I have just had a look (I keep my measurements on a spread sheet :rotfl:) and I started measuring on the 22August and from then until the last time I measured 10 october I have lost 48cm :j -I don't just do a "strike it lucky" -top-middle-bottom ....... I do my calves, knees, thighs, under my bust, belly, arms -the squidgy bit between waist n bra band as well as the main 3 :D -it really spurs you on
Right I will get off for now,,,Have a great day all -and keep at it,,,,

When i was 21 stone i was size 24/26 i've dropped 5 stone and i am now a size 18 so it does depend on how much you weigh to begin with. Height and build comes in too.. I'm 5'8 and broad shouldered so even if i was at my target weight i would probably be a size 12 judging by how things have gone so far.
All hail to the sale!!!!!!

Wow, vixie, 5 stones lost. You truly have done SW properly. I only have 2 stone to lose now and lost the first 2 stone over 2 years. I don't want to wait until 2012 to be 10 stone.
Your story has made me realise I have to follow SW properly. I am on Bodyoptimise (SW online). It is easier to cheat yourself when going it alone. But cheating myself is costing me money and wasting a great opportunity to make a difference in my life.

So far I have never measured my milk each day I just guess that I have 250ml semi skimmed. I never measure oil or butter. I do measure my cereal each day that I remember to eat, but that is the only think I measure. My HEs have always been a guess.

Now that I have had yet another light bulb moment I am determined to do this properly. I am going out for lunch tomorrow and will write everything down. I will go for a salad or soup to be on the safe side (without bread).

I have just remembered that when I was out today for hot chocolate (with cream on top) I also had a piece of mars bar cake. It is no wonder I lose very slowly! I cheat myself at every opportunity.

I didn't go to my WI at the hospital today as I knew I hadn't lost this week.

Anyone have any idea how many syns for a small slice of mars bar cake?
