Can anyone offer some advice? I am SW stalwart having lost weight on this plan numerous times in the past as it's so fab, I am considering taking my dd tonight to class (I'm not a member at the moment), as I am at my wits end with her, she is only 11 but is now 10st 2lbs and has a waits measurement of 34 inches. She is in a womens size 12 clothes. She has always been a big eater since a baby but as she has got older she has got less active, hates all kinds of sports and just wants to spend all her time listening to music, watching TV, on the laptop or texting her friends on her phone! I am a runner and now manage to keep my weight down through running, although want to get about 1st off to help me run better so am going to start class again myself.
I am just worried about taking an 11 year old to a slimming class as what that may do to her mentally although she tells me she does want to go and lose some weight (she brought the subject up not me)
Has anyone got any advice for how to deal with an overweight preteen?Aug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00 -
I think the beef, left over from roast, is a HEA. Is this a typo? Did you mean HEb? Only beef isn't a HEa only cheese & milk are. Beef =HEb.
Thanks, Takeiteazy, it's cos I am doing it from memory - I have lost the Body Optimising book that i had 2 years ago. I just thought as they were all protein ... I am going to rejoin in the New Year and get up to date, once the Bella offer is published.

don't take her to class hun,it will start a cycle which she'll be on forever, try a dance class? My daughter does ballroom, rock and roll but at her dance school there is cheer leading, hip hop,all sorts, she might just need inspiring instead of told she's fat and needs to diet? good luck i'm a mummy of 2 teenagers, sometimes the best way to do something for them is to take them once and say its not suitablethey'll be killing themselves to go again then!! :rotfl:

Great advice susan6780. I was a very overweight child and I've spent a lifetime of trailing round diet clubs, which didn't help my confidence. At times I found it hard to trust my own judgement, although maturity(!) has shown me that I can do it by myself. Dancing sounds fab, also I have always found that plugging the healthy eating' approach, rather than 'dieting' has been a help with my own kids.0

We've had a couple of youngsters in my class when we first started and were based in the secondary school, but they came with parents who were also on plan. One of them doesn't come any more, and whilst they religiously came every week they never really lost any weight! Even the mum only managed a couple of lb over 6 months so I don't think either of them were really sticking to it. The other has done quite well. It's not just that she's lost about a stone in weight, but that she's not put any on as she's been growing.
To be honest with you, if she's come up to you saying she wants to go then it sounds like she's serious about it which is good. If you've done plan before then why don't you have a go at it at home for a month? You can organise a weekly weigh in, do food diaries, explain what she can eat as much as she wants of and the types of things that need to be limited. At 11 you can take control of the main meals, you just need to get her to control the snacking. Good luck
WI today, which I'm not looking forward to. I've been a yo yo for a couple of months and I really don't want to see a gain again but based on what I've eaten I know that I should expect it. Ho hum, back to plan!0
