Oh I have a bit of a long winded question for the online SWers (or those with up to date books?)

I want to make my own bread this month (it's a test for my new year's resolution - to use some of the old appliances gathering dust in my kitchen!!) and I was wondering if anyone could tell me the syns or healthy extra value of home made bread.

It seems a bit tricky and I dont know if i might have to syn some of the ingredients (yeast, sugar, milk powder, etc) or if I dont have to because it's all in shop bought bread anyway (and there are much worse ingredients in that too!)

Also - I remember someone using a certain type of flour for pizza bases that were a HEB - Please could someone let me know which wholewheat flours are HEB??

I'm hoping I can make some HEB bread or rolls so I can stop buying shop bread - I dont eat it that much anyway, I hate the artificial-ness of it and the cost, and it always goes off too quickly!!

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

I always have homemade bread from my breadmaker and just cut slices to weigh around the 57g mark and count them as my HEB. Never even thought it could be different! I don't each much bread though, 2 slices a week normally!

    :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Ok, so I was poorly for about 10 days (lovely darlings at school gave me a stinking cold!!) and I missed 2 groups because of it. I trotted along tonight to find I have put on 3lbs........ Oh heck.... But, to be fair I have been off plan.........

So, tomorrow is a new day...... my butt is firmly glued on the wagon, and it IS NOT coming off until 18th December. Then I go to both sets of parents (DH and mine) over xmas and then it is Goddaughters birthday and new year. I WILL be back on plan on the 1st January. Promise to myself, then, my butt IS NOT comking off the SW wagon until I am at target.

OMG - I sound like a preacher - but, if it is in words I can't go off (can I??)

  • Evening all

I had an unexpected meal out today. I go to uni on wednesdays, and today was our last class before xmas. It finished early so we all went to the pub afterwards and had a meal :) I was very good and stuck to the jacket potato, but did have a small glass of wine too ;)

    Green day for me:

B - oats (HEB), ff yog, 1/2 banana
L - pasta with HM SF chilli tomato sauce, cheese (HEA)
D - jacket spud, beans, cheese (HEA), salad, coleslaw - tablespoon (approx 3syns)
Snacks - clementine, biscuit (4syns), tinned fruit (HEB), LF creme fraiche (1.5syns)
Drinks - coffee, water, wine (6syns), soda water

    Total syns = 14.5

Tomorrow I am at a conference with lunch so this could be tricky. I am going to take a big pile of fruit to eat incase there aren't many SW veggie choices.

Hope you all had a good day

I thought I'd come to Discussion Time rather than the SW thread today. Glad normal service has resumed I must say.

Thanks for the kind words of support re. my disappointing maintain this week blackberry & susan. I'm definitely doing more superspeed, and upping my fruit/veg intake generally. I did a hop on the scales at home this morning, and they're already weighing me 2lb lighter than they were at the beginning of the week... so I hope that stays off till next Monday.

We have heat and hot water again!!! Yayyyyy! I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to be warm again, and to not be bundled up like Nanook of the North. The new boiler is very swish, and heats the water as you use it, so no having to set the timer to heat it up anymore. How cool (or should I say hot) is that?

I can feel I have a cold coming on. There are certain things I really wish my darling eldest son would keep to himself... his germs are one... the rest I'd best not mention on a public thread! I feel like I've had my throat rubbed with sandpaper, and my head has throbbed a bit today, but I'm hoping all this extra vitamin C in the superspeeds is going to help.

    Food today: EE

    B - porridge [HEB], banana
L - Mugshot-Chicken noodle, satsuma, activia strawberry snackpot
D - Sainsburys BGTY sausages x 4 (0.5 syn each=2 syns), mash, leeks, broccoli, mushrooms, onions, peas, gravy (2 syns)
    Milk [HEA]
Snack - satsuma, Locket throat sweet (1.5 syns)
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Been to weigh in and have lost 1lb this week so got my 1.5 stone sticker:T

That is the motivation I needed this week, should be on track for my club ten soon as only 1.5 off that now - question is can I do it before Christmas? Will be hard once Christmas meals out start.

Been a good day food wise today:

B - Weetabix and soya milk with blueberries/raspberries (HEB part HEA)

L - Cous cous with peppers/carrot/onion, smoked tofu cubes
    tub fresh fruit salad

    D - wholemeal pasta with pasta sauce(3) 28g soya cheese (HEA 2)
    Brocolli and courgette

    Snacks - banana, grapes

May have a soya yoghurt(2) later and got my advent choc to go yet (2)

    WELL DONE LOOOOOSSSSSEERRRSSSS

I am mentally tired today as opposed to physically tired [which I always am :D]. Had dress rehearsal for the infant school today and getting 30 4/5 yr olds changed into angels & travellers was rather hectic. Crowd control in the hall and making sure they get on and off the stage in one piece leaves you shattered and we still had the whole day to go. Two more performances in front of the parents left to do .
Am feeling proud of myself as watched The Nativity DVD [if you work in a school this is a MUST see :D] this evening at school and ate satsumas instead of the mince pies everyone else was eating :A.

    So food today:
    B - weetabix milk [a] coffee
L - mugshot, quiche [a], toms, melon, activia, fibre plus
    T - sw chips [oil b], egg, quiche [a], onions, spag hoops, t/sauce [1]
    Snacks - 4 pears [kiddie size], 4 satsumas [kiddie size], pineapple+melon+onken+meringue [2.5]
    Syns - 3.5

OH bloody hell, just looked out window and its snowing heavily [just got rid of it all too] Everywhere is covered again and more is forecast. Am fed up with it all :(, really feel for those of you who have it bad.
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

HAVE AN EXTRA SPECIAL BIG SHINY STICKER!!!!

I teach Yr6 and getting them organised is hell enough........ Why do you always have a sock left over??? Due to the stress induced by such an event you also deserve another sticker for resisting mince pies!!!! I didn't - hence the 3lbs on!! Oooops - and I didn't even have a play to do!!

Thats just so annoying when the have an office change-around. It happens annually with us (or there abouts). Annoying when you have to lug furniture around too.

Glad you liked the fake cheesecake. It really isnt too bad is it? I have a daft game i play when i make it. I make the cheesy topping and race to dollop it onto the warmed alpens as soon as i open the micro to get the melted choc into the cheese as well.
    Sad I know :rotfl:
