    Hi all,

I had half a pound gain yest :o( My first one since joining though so not too bad.

I am going to be sticking to speed soup now till next week as have about 4 meals out coming up:eek:

How do people manage their SW eating inbetween xmas parties and such? Do you lower your syns and success express?

    Thanks x
  • Completed my first full week on SW, and despite a minor wobble on Saturday I managed to lose 3lb:j. It was really what I needed to keep up my enthusiasm during the party season (one tonight, Tuesday night and Thursday lunch). Food for today:

    B - 2 x alpen bars
L - jacket potato, baked beans and salad
D - unsure cos its a buffet, but will make sure I eat plenty of veg and salad

    Snacks - fruit, mullerlight
Syns - dinner tonight and a couple of drinks - will probs get to 20 but only had 10 yesterday so not the end of the world.

    One word "Flexisyns":D

Thoughout my weightloss I have always flexisyned at the weekends - I like a glass or three of red wine! It just means you weight loss is a bit slower but if you don't mind that, and I didn't, then I think it's worth it.

With all the christmas parties etc going on I am just planning of flexidays for those days and cut back to about 5 syns on the other days. Hopefully this will work but if it doesn't and I gain, I'll get completely back on track and lose it again - but hope that doesn't happen:)

Enjoy christmas do's but don't overdo the syns too much.

Thanks hun, that's what I'm going to do and combine it with success express when I get my head round it.

Luckily all my meals happen to be on the same days! Had one today, got one tonight then two Tues, then I am done! Phew!

Evening all. Looks like the wagon's a bit wobbly at the moment for some.... hang on in there guys, we've not hit Christmas yet! I think the phrase we need to remember at times like this is 'Flexi-Syns'. At our class this week there were almost as many pounds gained, as there were lost, which the Consultant really did look deflated about. It did make me wonder if they earn a bonus for good losses... does anyone know? It did turn out that it was Christmas treats and parties that were in the main part to blame. We then went through a list of 'nibbles' we would likely come across in the coming weeks, and their syn values. I think I've made a decision to not go anywhere near a buffet after learning that lot.

I've decided that the best way to deal with feeling tempted by all the Christmas food is to start baking mine, and making festive goodies. That way I'll be so sick of the sight and smell of it, that I won't want anything anyway.

I decided I couldn't bear to be away from all the friendly posters on here and after so many pm's asking me to come back, here I am :D

Consultants don't get a bonus on good losses, and even the area managers don't say anything about poor losses - well, after all, even the best Consultant can't make someone toe the line if they don't want to can they? But the main pleasure in doing the job is seeing the joy on someones's face when they've done well. Don't get me wrong, the pay is good, but when I started doing it, I was working as well and I always said I'd do it for nothing, it was such fun!

If you're having an Indian meal, I've posted a list of popular foods and their syn values on the recipe thread rather than clogging up this thread. The main thing to remember is that the basis for most curries is ghee (clarified butter); the addition of oil and cream is why the Syns start soaring. Great options include dishes that come minus the creamy sauce, eg tandoori chicken (marinated in spices and yogurt) and rice dishes such as biryani (meat/vegetables mixed with rice). Watch out for high Syn starters such as vegetable samosas (2 small ones = 7½ Syns) and onion bhajis (8½ Syns each).

Personally, I'm of the opinion that Christmas isn't the same unless you can indulge a little......the trick is remembering that Christmas lasts for 2 days. You really can't do much damage in 2 days, but indulging from the middle of December until the middle of January can see a huge gain in weight, as many of us will already know ;)

I have to say you're something of an :A if you can bake and not want to sample the goods afterwards - I'm impressed :rotfl:
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

  • Not a cold cure but to help a sore throat you can get sugar free menthol throat sweets, I forget the make but it's one of the common ones, they are in a blue packet (Spangles shaped packet!) I expect you could make your own version of Lemsip too, using beechams powder, hot water, lemon and fake sweetener, but I've not tried that :o Get well soon anyway, lots of warm water would also ease your throat.

Spangles?? Here was I thinking you were a young slip of a thing, Blackberry.......you must be nearly as old as me :rotfl::rotfl:

Success Express is very similar to Extra Easy with one or two exceptions. Here are the basic rules:-

Every day enjoy 3 meals following the 2 to 1 plate principle.

Fill two thirds of the plate with super-free foods (those free on all plans) and one third with foods that are free on green and/or red.

You still get your HE’s and 5 - 15 syns a day as part of a meal or snacks. Where syn values differ on Green or Red, you must count the higher syn value (not the lower as with EE).

Snacks, starters or desserts that are not super-free or HE’s, are counted as syns. For example, smoked salmon as a starter must be synned because it's not super-free. A starter such as melon is super-free.

You might find it easier if you think of 3 identical small plates/bowls rather than one plate divided into thirds…...so say you were making chicken and veg stir fry with noodles - you would fill one bowl with chicken and noodles and two with veg, then put it all in the wok together.

I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Consultant, soooooo glad you haven't left us. Line under it & fresh start I say. Wouldn't be the same without you, bad enough with no Dizzy but to lose you too can't bear thinking about it :D

Glossing over yesterday as it disolved into a chocolate fest [well 7 cubes is a fest for me] as well as chinese and only 1 HEa & b :o

Today has been better [so far]
    B - weetabix milk [a] coffee
    L - 2 x wm rolls [2xb], lemon curd [2], toms, quiche, melon, activia
T - [will be] sw chips, oil [2], last bit of quiche with ex/cheese [a] egg, roast onions, toms, spag hoops, t/sauce [1]
Snacks - apple, pineapple+melon+pear+onken+meringue [2.5] [didn't have this, was too stuffed & bloated from T]
    Syns - 5

Am so glad its Friday, christmas plays all done :j and just 1 week to go :T. Am off for a snooze or cook tea whatever comes first :rotfl:
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T
