Ha! I bet I'm the oldest one on here .... although I still work fulltime I've been getting the old age pension for nearly three years, it's fab! Best off I've ever been! Finally I can save for my retirement :rotfl:

  • I just cannot get motivated at the moment and have been eating crap for 2 weeks (not helped that classes have been cancelled because of the weather). On top of that money is about to get REALLY tight and i need to get my head round a low cost SW diet. I really need to sit down and make menu plans!

And I have no idea what Spangles are? I was thinking they must be some type of American sweet!!

p.s Good to see you posting consultant:A

Success Express is very similar to Extra Easy with one or two exceptions. Here are the basic rules:-

Every day enjoy 3 meals following the 2 to 1 plate principle.

Fill two thirds of the plate with super-free foods (those free on all plans) and one third with foods that are free on green and/or red.

You still get your HE’s and 5 - 15 syns a day as part of a meal or snacks. Where syn values differ on Green or Red, you must count the higher syn value (not the lower as with EE).

Snacks, starters or desserts that are not super-free or HE’s, are counted as syns. For example, smoked salmon as a starter must be synned because it's not super-free. A starter such as melon is super-free.

You might find it easier if you think of 3 identical small plates/bowls rather than one plate divided into thirds…...so say you were making chicken and veg stir fry with noodles - you would fill one bowl with chicken and noodles and two with veg, then put it all in the wok together.

Thanks Consultant! How many HeA & HeBs are included?

Evening all, it's certainly been a bit quieter on here for a few days now. Starting to get a bit concerned about MrsM though, anyone got any idea where she is? Here's hoping she's OK.

Thank you for all the good suggestions, and links, for my meal out. I've not had a biryani before, but think it's what my friend usually orders, so I will probably go for that. Glad to see you back here Consultant, and your input is invaluable. As for Spangles (not American, just an old square boiled sweet... shaped like the Tunes throat sweets, but in different fruit flavours), I had a very bad experience with a Spangle when I was about 9, swallowed one whole, and felt poorly for the rest of the night. I'd only just gone out to play too, so was doubly-miffed. It put me off orange flavoured sweets forever after.

I'm still feeling very ropey, but have had a busy day doing lots of housework, ironing, moving furniture, and then off to see my youngest boy's nativity play at the church. This evening I can feel my cold is starting to take a hold of me, and I'm getting an irritating cough. I just hope it goes as fast as it's arrived. At least it's only a cold, and I'd rather that than a sickness bug, but it now makes perfect sense why I've been craving satsumas all week, as my body is trying to get the vitamin C I guess. Last time I craved satsumas I was pregnant.... that would have taken a bit of creative explanation with my OH if it had been the case, since he had the snip several years ago! I'm also far too old for that caper, and have done my fair share with my 4 boys already.

I've struggled to have an appetite today, because I've felt groggy, and my throat is sore to eat, so it's been a case of eating what I can.

    Food today : EE

B - alpen light [HEB] banana, satsuma
L - chicken drumstick (1.5 syns), FF Activia, banana
D - Spagbol (courgettes, peppers, onions, tomatoes, carrots, celery), pasta, parmesan (1 syn)
    HEA - milk

What I have begun to notice this week is that I am not feeling hungry between meals anymore, and that I am not thinking about food constantly. That's a real turning point for me, and hopefully key to making this a success. Steering clear of bread is also ensuring I don't fall down, and I'm not missing it at all.
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Didn't Mrs M report heavy snowfall (9" and still falling, or should that be rising)? I suppose they may have lost their internet connection or something. Oh that reminds me, an online friend in Scotland has been cut off internetwise (except when the emergency dongle works) because a big old ICICLE fell and cut the wire:eek:

I hope Mrs M's ok though. And I'm waiting for Dizzy to track down an internet cafe in Mexico and tell us what she's eating :rotfl:
