hello all; I have a planned annual leave day today for which I am grateful as it was sooooo cold this morning and everything was iced up but I see the neighbours have managed to escape. I've had an idea. I hate carrots. Just the word I hate, never mind being expected to buy one of them and do things with it and then eat it. But I do lately buy a little can of carrots if I am planning to make pickled onion soup and I cannot tell they are in there once it's all blended. So I thought I will buy a few cans and blend all the contents and freeze into "helping" size lumps, then I can defrost one and add it to things where it won't show such as tomato soup, or pumpkin soup or even mashed root vegetables. I know carrots are a speed food, but I simply can't, never have liked 'em since I was old enough to state firmly that I never wanted to eat carrots :( but this way I might get some down me.

(we're talking here about someone who does all her own cooking, but if I come across ANYTHING orange in anything I've cooked myself, eg butternut squash, orange pepper, etc, I poke about at it to ensure it's not a carrot :( and when I'm out I will not order anything described as "Vegetable xx" or "Veggie xx" because it always includes carrots and it's such a faff picking out every little bit :rotfl: weird I know)

That isn't a long list by my standards :p sorry -I forgot to put my little **at the side of my oats.. I can't get scan bran (although with what everyone say about them I don't mind) :rotfl:-so I have a german dark rye crispbread thing instead, I just munch that this evening on its own,

FrankieM -I plan for the week..and my brekkie and lunches too *Im a sad sac* :T. I just find that it means I don't get caught short of ingredients...

I know, I was only joking about it being looooong, you may notice I rarely if ever post a list of what I eat during the day .... shall I do today so far (remember I'm at home - if I were at work I would have had 4 pieces of fruit by now, not one!)

• 4 big mugs real coffee incl HEA skimmed milk
• 2 ryvita sesame with marmite, cucumber and quark
• a pear
• HM squash soup with lentils, onion, garlic, ginger, spices, dried fenugreek (3 very big bowls full, it was so nice I ate it all!)
• small glass red wine 6 syns
the rest of the day will include more fruit, large haddock fillet, whatever vegetables I fancy (probably baby sweet corn, mange tout peas, tomato, mushroom, perhaps spicy baked beans) and whatever carb I decide on, then my special treat of a semi-frozen muller light in the late evening, with lots of cups of hot water as they don't need milk in!

I have some scan bran but tbh unless I need a "clear out" I use ryvita, they are much easier to eat! If ever you find ur desperate to try scan bran let me know, I'll put a pack in the mail to you :D

Does anyone know the syns in buttercream icing? :o My work colleague's wife makes the most amazing cupcakes, and he brought some in for the office. I resisted all day but he left the last one on my desk, and all of a sudden my finger just scooped up some of the icing :rotfl:. I left the actual cake though so that's good!

Cajun chicken oup sounds delish! Do you have a recipe?

Yep, its actually from the SW website:

Cajun chicken soup
This recipe truly is chicken soup for the soul – chunky vegetables and chicken with a real kick to pick-you-up!
Serves: 4
Syns per serving:
Free on Original, 4 Syns on Green
Ingredients
1 green pepper, deseeded and chopped
1 large onion, chopped
2 sticks celery, chopped
2 garlic cloves, crushed
2 x 142 g/5 oz chicken breast fillets, skinned
1 x 397 g/14 oz can chopped tomatoes
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 level teaspoon artificial sweetener
1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
¼ teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon tabasco sauce
1704 ml/3 pints chicken stock made with Bovril
salt and ground black pepper
chopped fresh coriander leaves, to garnish
Method
1. In a non-stick frying pan, dry fry the green pepper, onion and celery with the crushed garlic until soft. Remove from the pan and set aside.
2. Cut the chicken fillets into small pieces and dry fry them in the same pan for about 3–4 minutes, until golden brown.
3. Transfer the vegetables and chicken to a large saucepan. Add the tomatoes, oregano, artificial sweetener, Cajun seasoning, paprika, tabasco and stock. Simmer gently over a low heat for 30 minutes.
4. Season to taste with salt and pepper, and serve the soup hot, sprinkled with chopped fresh coriander.

I haven't made it before, and can't wait to try it!

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Evening all

Im hating this cold weather makes me want to eat too much!

Am not feeling motivated this week - bit of a flexi day Sat as out with friends at a Christmas fayre but to be fair only had 1 mulled plum cordial and a rum and a hot choc and some sugared hot cashews - bad but not mega bad, could of been worse!

Today took students out for a drink in town so cold I had to have a Costas soya hot choc had a small one which if Ive got that calculator thing right is 6 syns, which means the bigger one I had Sat was 12 syns:o

I think I need to up the super foods and speed foods - with all the Christmas festivities and parties and meals out coming up Im starting to panic a bit!

Got to bake tons of blueberry muffins for a stall Im helping on to fundraise for an animal sanctuary - will be tons of cake there too all vegan so I can eat it. Have pre ordered a choc log but decided Il take it to friends Christmas meal so means I only have one slice.

Not sure if Il go to club or not this week - way too cold/icy to brave the pavements here other than to go to work/back.

Christmas week worked out Il need 2 flexi syn days (well evenings) then Christmas itself - not going to not have treats but wont be easy:eek::xmassmile

Anyway today's food:

B - porridge and blueberries (HEB/HEA)

L - 300ml Cov garden tom and basil soup (HEB2) slices smoked tofu

D - SW chips, mushy peas, poached mushrooms/onions in veggie worcs sauce! veggie sausage, tomato

Snacks - banana, melon, soya lemon yoghurt (2) Costas hot choc (6?) advent choc (2?)

didnt fancy my usual salad or vege today.

Really must start cooking more food from scratch will do that over Christmas when Im off work.

• right, following my first-half-of-the-day eating, here's the second half:
• watercress, spring onions, capers, cucumber, warmed up quiche (2 syns) grilled mushrooms
• banana
• diet tonic
• more hot water
• weetabix oaty bar (3 syns) (the 2 ryvitas were my HEB this morning)
will probably have a tangerine later, and my frozen cherry muller light.

Who's at WI tonight? Just wondering if any have been cancelled this week? Ours was cancelled last week, and my usual Monday evening socialising is cancelled. Good luck with the weighing, anyone who's going through it tonight!
