Just use your bread maker on the dough setting, then cut out into little rounds and pop them into the oven on gas mark 4-5 or 180ish on lecky for between 10-15 mins depending how brown you want them.If you tap one on the bottom they should sound hollow when they are cooked.

Some people let them rise more once the cut them into rounds, but I can never wait that long.

All I use is a basic plain bread recipe. Personally I think the bread tastes better when done as rolls and cooked in the oven rather than the bread maker.

    Hi folks!

    I have:

    Tesco Strong White Bread Flour
Sachets of Fast Action Dried Yeast.

How do I turn these into lovely homemade bread rolls? I've never made bread before and thus have visions of small misshaped scone-type monstrosities!

    Thanks in advance!

    hiya

i've just made batch for my bbq today, and they are fab.

Mix 3 cups of flour with 1 and a bit cups of water and half a sachet or 1 tsp of the yeast. add 1/2 tsp salt and 1 tbs oil.

knead these well until you have a smooth dough, then leave to rise.

once risen ( 1 hour ish), knock back, cut into about 16 secions and roll these into balls. I then put these about 2cm apart ina large roasting tray that i've covered with a sprinkling of flour, cover with a t towel and leave to rise again.

then bake at about 200c for 15 minutes ish. I like seeds and olive oil and salt on the top before baking, but that's me. mine are fab. loads of rolls for pennies!

    Excellent! Thanks for the advice.

Does "knock back" mean re-roll, or something rather technical?

'Knock back' simply means briefly knead the dough again - nothing complex :)

knocking back is the fun bit where you push down on the lovely risen dough that is in the bowl...a very satisfying feeling! Push it all down, give a very brief knead and then split into your rolls and follow previous instructions!
