I use my Panasonic breadmaker all the time but have never had the courage to try rolls. Is it really that easy? Any tips I might follow?
  • It really is!
just use the dough setting it gives you the mixing, kneading and first prove
Take out of the pan and knock it back, form into rolls any size you like, prove on an oiled baking sheet and cover with cling film until doubled in size put in oven at 220C for 20 or so minutes and voila you have handmade rolls
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I don't even bother with the dough setting, I just put it on the pizza setting and it makes dough in 45 mins instead of 2 hours plus. Then I shape rolls and leave to prove as you said. Works perfectly well with beautifully risen dough and saves a lot of time

I like to keep a supply of rolls in the freezer. Bag them as soon as they have cooled, then freeze. They don't take long to defrost and that way you can have really fresh rolls whenever you want.
  • Sorry to sound thick but do you just use the normal white bread mixture or is there another recipie to use to make rolls? Also, is it possible to make the rolls soft?

My DH prefers the rolls from the breadmaker rather than the bread, I make a batch of rolls most nights for his packed lunches

Just use the same recipe yes (i imagine). Not sure about the softness though. Would be interested to know myself. French bread today was gorgeous so might try rolls once this is done.
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

I just use the dough cycle for my roll dough and then make round balls (whatever size you like), place on a baking tray (with plenty of room between), leave them to rise under a tea towel and then bake at 180 for about 15 mins.
