GoldenEye wrote:Just a quick question on postage. I always send items to buyers using Royal Mail first class, costing 65p. I ordered from another internet company a few days ago and I noticed that they paid 61p first class. Is that because they have a contract with the Royal Mail?
I have always stuck a printed "YOUR AMAZON MARKETPLACE ORDER" label on the front of the package (as Amazon recommends). Is there a specific reason for this? Amazon recommend adding "SMALL PACKET" to the front of the package too. Will this reduce the price of postage?
Hi GE
Yes they probably do have a contract so their postage is cheaper.
I put my 'Your Amazon Marketplace Order' on the back of my envelopes with my return address. I think it is useful for people to know who the item is from.
I write Large Letter Size or Packet Size on the front of my envelopes so that RM know that I have considered the correct weight before sticking my stamps on. Not sure why Amazon suggest 'Small Packet', unless it is Airmail and cheaper to use rather than the 'Printed Papers' rate.

Just noticed that Amazon are offering pro merchant at half price for a few months again, I think (but I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will correct me) that for the months it is half price you only need to sell 15 books per month to make it worth while.
I have been selling 15 books a month for about 2 out of 3 months so am getting itchy fingers to sign up.:jI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. At last!!! they haven't had this since autumn 2005 - yes, Soo 15 books per month is all you need to sell to make a saving0 -
ooh ohh...shall I then? I could reduce the price of some of my books to try and generate some more sales.
Just one question though, how easy is it to come off pro merchant? Also if I give up pro merchant at the end of my half price term will my books just stay listed as they normally were, or will I suddenly have to relist all 570 books?
Soo
EDIT: the link is here if anyone is iterested. I'm just reading the terms and conditions now.

Hi Soo and Mishka - it's soooooo dead easy, you (as I remember) just click a link and hey presto you're a Pro, nothing happens to your book list or prices, the only difference is when you sell something you get 86p more on your SDN, that's all.
When you want to cancel, I assume that you get the benefit till the end of the month that you've paid for then it will revert to how it was on your invoices.
I just have to tell you all again how mad I was that I went pro one day, the very next day they started the half price offer for three months - I'll go to my grave smarting about that!0 -
I did it !!
You are right AT it was sooooo easy, in fact i wondered if I had done it wrong !!
I checked my sales record and in the last 30 days ive sold 31 books, i just hope it doesnt all dry up now,
At least I wont be sobbing in the PO any more when my 1p book cost £1.39 to post as the woman ALWAYS puts my books through as packet regardless of size !!
Combine the savings with the extra cheap jiffy bags ive just ordered and im might actually do well this month !!
Thankyou thankyou thankyou soo !

mishka, keep a running total on your sig so I can see how you are doing, it might spur me on a bit to source some new books. I only ever sold more than 30 books in one month when we did the challenge before Christmas, I usually sell around the 15 mark, so fingers crossed.
