  • Hi all

I hope you've all had a good Christmas and New Year! I missed my December challenge by 3 sales, but at least I covered the pro merchant subs. I had a few sales just before Christmas, but not much since. My challenge for this month is to check the Charity shops in the city centre for likely books (like I'd know what they are :rotfl: ) and try to build up a stock of unusual books that might sell for more than a penny!

I've had an email from a buyer who bought a PC game on 7 November and is only now telling me that they didn't receive the serial number. I can't remember if I definitely checked that the manual was in the box before I posted it - but I'm pretty sure I did! And would you believe that it's the one game in a series that I didn't register so I have no record of the serial number  Next time I sell a PC game I'll write down that I've included the serial number - and say that I've made sure it's enclosed on the 'dispatched' email. Anyway, I've offered a full refund if they send the game back - not a lot else I can do!

Can I join the Amazon Seller's Club? I don't know why I haven't asked before! I'm definitely addicted :rotfl:

Here's wishing everyone a successful new year

    Hi Mishka,

I really feel for you, especially as the same thing has just happened to me and it is terrible timing. I have been selling since march but I was using my friends account as I had trouble opening one under my new address, then finally amazon accepts my address in dec so I open an account in my own name, then I go an get a negative feedback, my very first one, now if it was in my old account it wouldn't have decreased my rating as much but I am at 71% !!!! Ahhhh!! And I really feel it is affecting my sales coz I have only sold a couple of books since christmas, I am so blue about it so I have totally grovelled to the buyer to remove the feedback, fingers crossed he will take pity and remove it, otherwise I am destined to never pay off my huge debts!

Anyway, royal mail didn't deliver the book so he left me a 1/5 feedback without contacting me, so I have a negative, I am £6 out of pocket and I feel sad and guilty and I have no money!!

I need a hug (said in the words of 'donkey' from Shrek).

p.s Mish - I hope yours works out.

(((hug))) Hi Kat have a Shrek-type hug, that's really bad luck - hope you get the feedback removed or have you thought of replying to the feedback so that other buyers know it was a RM problem?

Hope it works out for you too Mishka - maybe I'm better off not having any sales after all :rotfl:

Awww - that's rough, and a horrible start to the year. Don't feel guilty, though - you haven't done anything wrong! If the buyer doesn't remove the feedback, you could always put a polite response explaining the situation. You'll show as 'just launched', won't you as it's a new account? Maybe buyers will feel sympathetic towards you for having such a horrible person leave your 'first' feedback!!

Anyway, I hope things get better for you soon...here's a hug for you :grouphug:

    Happy New Year Kat

This December was quite good, I sold several new books (although these don't make alot of profit - small margin) 112 in Dec.

Since Christmas day I haven't sold more than 4 books a day. January so far has been 4, 4, 2, 2. Mind you my Ebay junk sale has been doing quite well.

  • I wonder if there is a curry season on Sky?

or maybe peeps just want to use up their christmas meat thats left in the freezer :D

i have noticed a few of you are saying its quiet on amazon selling books...and that you feel that amazon is better for selling books than ebay..

well on the cheap listing day... a friend of ours.....listed loads of books with b.i.n. and in total have sold neally a 100 books.......whether this is a fluke i dont know..

i have only sold one thing on amazon.. and that was within a matter of hours of me listing my first item....a few days ago....

maybe its quiet. because.... like my hubby maybe peeps have got paid 3 weeks money before christmas..... so this week they are totally skint (like us ) and dont get paid until thursday......

I sell as many books on Ebay as I do on Amazon and usually on Ebay I end up with more money after fees and expenses. However, the big difference for me is that I leave over 550 books listed on Amazon at any one time at no cost to myself. On Ebay I pick and choose which books I list very carefully..so I sell most of what I list, but only because I have researched my market before listing.

Therefore for me using both ebay and Amazon together works really well.
