    thanks for the comments.....

so basically when it comes to postage... 1st or 2nd..

depending on the size of the book then.... imo

if its on the heavier side..... second..... and if its light enough first....

i must admit... i have sent the odd thing second class with ebay.... and they have got there the following day....

and i send things first class... and some items have taken 2 days.... so.....

    thanks for the thoughts.... :T

    Hi CTC,

    I've only been selling on Amazon since April but my system is;

I put in my listings that I post next working day and I do stick to this unless there's an emergency or something at home. I always post 2nd class unless its very light or an expensive buy which I term £15 or over when I post 1st class. I just get the PO to put a 2nd class label on it and haven't [so far, fingers crossed] had any negative feedback about it. In fact got positive feedback mostly about the speed of items being received. Its quite hard work checking to make sure things go out the next day but its worth it and I've got my little system going now.

So I guess its a bit idiosyncratic but it works for me :D

Good luck with the selling this year everyone - hope my post makes sense just had visitors and had a lttle drinkie [bit early for me :o ]

thanks guys for the advice.. and how you personally work/use amazon....

i must admit....when i put my first item on.... i was a bit taken back by amazons charges....

but once i got over that...... at least there is no listing fees.....plus you know exactly to the penny how much you will get for the item if it sells......

i have only used amazon for buying books..... so i think over the next day or two.. i will have a proper nose around amazon.....

  • Hi,

I've just sold my first item on Amazon - a cd.
It's all packaged up ready to go tomorrow, but what I'd like to ask you all, is what do you put in your email to the buyer? I've seen that it's good practice to email them, but what do I say? "Thanks very much - it's on it's way" is more or less what I'm inclined to put. Just wanted some reassurance, please.

Well done on the sale, first of many I hope!

You've pretty much summed up the email, you could suggest that they get back to you if they have any problems but other than that there isn't a lot more that you could say

Congrats - you'll be hooked in like the rest of us now checking for those SDN emails. I usually just email to say

'thanks for buying XXXX by XXX from me via Amazon on XXXXX. It was posted out to you today so you should receive it soon [never more specific than that but if I've posted 1st class I tell them that but if 2nd I don't mention it :o ] If there's a delay for any reason i mention that ie we've got 2 Bank Hols up here for NY. Also ask them to contact me if they have any queries or probs. Some folk reply when its arrived others don't. No doubt other sellers have a different system and will be telling you about that but what you're doing sounds fine.

Ooops bit of 'cross posting' there - happily we said much the same. Bit slow as I had a lot of spelling corrections to make due to earlier alcohol imbibing ;)

Can I have some advice please ???

I have a buyer who also sells on Amazon, the buyer name is different to that of the addresse, so does this mean that i shouldnt include a slip with my seller details ?? presumeably this person is expecting my buyer to post it to them and if I include my seller details they arent going to be able to leave me feedback ??? Sorry i dont know why but this has stumped me !!

happy new year to you all !!

    Hi Mishka

You could email the seller/buyer and ask them what they would like you to do. The fact that they sell on Amazon means that they are more likely to read and respond to emails.

They may already have been in touch with their buyer to say that it is coming from a different source or it could be a present they are buying for someone in their family - all sorts of possibilities.
