I am a Marketplace seller but I want to buy a video game from a U.S. seller. I have just placed an item in the basket and proceeded to the checkout. The postage is coming up as £1.99 which is the same amount a U.K. seller would charge. Is this right? I assumed the U.S. seller (based in Florida) would charge more for postage. Can they charge more later? Thank-you.

As far as I know the postage charges would be the same provided you were buying through amazon.co.uk (not.com). The seller has the responsibility of paying the additional postage and, logically, would price the item taking that into account.

Having said that, I haven't personally ordered any items from non-UK sellers. If it's an item that you can't source elsewhere I (personally) would go through with the purchase and cancel if the seller did try asking for more money.

    Hi,

I have a large box of books, DVDs and CDs to get rid of, so I've signed up and started listing. Can I have a number for the Amazon club please?

Thanks, AT. Do I have to set my self a challange for the new month too? I think I'd like to sell 10 items during January. I have about 100 to list, hopefully if I can get some of them on tonight, people will be at home bored tomorrow and will be browsing Amazon.

I did make about £100 a few years ago selling old uni books, I hope I can be as sucessful this time.

I listed my all the cheaper books I have on GM at the start of December and sold a grand total of...one book. But by all accounts, that's quite an achievement.

Happy new year to all the amazon sellers.

I second that about truck loads to be sold - if we all carry on helping each other as we did in the last year we might just fill a truck between us :j :j :j

With that in mind, Tescodisco, hopefully you haven't lost all your listings, I can't believe that they've been deleted after just a few days so maybe if you check with amazon as has already been suggested you might get them back again. My only other thought is that maybe your books could be put on www.readitswapit.co.uk andhopefully you'll get started again with some fresh stock.

The old avatar had been in use for about 18 month so I wanted a change and this cat's smile always makes me smile, I know that it's been photoshopped but I still like it.
  • hi.. after buying books off amazon.....

last night.... i decided after reading the first few pages of this thread.... to go for it and list a book....

well start a new year.... by doing something new and positive....:D

its so easy compared to ebay..:j

so i think i might as well so through some of my books and list a few more.....

so just to clarify......if my book sells at the £4.50 price....

    amzon will pay me £5.12......

so will that £5.12 get paid into my bank account 2 weeks after it sells ? or is there a fortnightly pay out.... and you get paid on the next payout ?

    hope that makes sense...

    thanks........

  • Hi there cooltrikerchick, another newbie! welcome to the thread...

You are correct with the £5.12, you pay the postage of the book out of this so if it costs £5.00 to post you make a profit of ....errrrrr......12p - so hopefully you've weighed it and checked that it will cost much less to post.

The payout day is at 2 week intervals not 2 weeks from the sale, it takes around another 4 days for it to land in your bank account
