You are correct with the £5.12, you pay the postage of the book out of this so if it costs £5.00 to post you make a profit of ....errrrrr......12p - so hopefully you've weighed it and checked that it will cost much less to post.
The payout day is at 2 week intervals not 2 weeks from the sale, it takes around another 4 days for it to land in your bank account
hi.. apprentice tycoon.... thanks for the clarification on that....
so in theory it could take up to four weeks for the money to hit your bank account ?
ye i have learned my lesson on ebay.. about selling heavy stuff lol....
do you post first or secvond class with amazon ?
as with ebay i normally send first class..... but with the amazon.... there is not much margin to play around with ....so to speak....Work to live= not live to work0 -
4 weeks? maybe not as long as that, my payday is alternate Tuesdays so if I sell a book just before they close the list I'll have that money by the start of the next week, if I sell a book after they close the list it will be 3 weeks before I get my hands on it, at least you know for certain that you're going to get it unlike ebay where it can be a problem.
Having said that you can click on a link to ask for the payout to be made at other times to suit yourself, I believe that there are some restrictions about how many times you ask for this in a given time.
First or second class ????? - it's a tricky one that we on the thread can't agree on, if you decide to send 1st class I'd shout about it in your description so that your book will have the edge on ones that don't mention it.0 -

Hi CTC
2 schools of thought on this one, AT does 1st class, I do 2nd class. I have great feedback usually on speed of delivery.
Choice is yours, Amazon don't specifically state 1st class, although it is intimated on one of their help pages. But if you post same day it will get there fast.
Oh, by the way I do use lick and stick postage stamps so the buyer can't tell if I used 1st or 2nd unless they add them up and check on a postage chart. Also, I don't think Postman Pat really puts things into slow and fast piles anyway.

Good advice from AT as usual.
I state Same Day Despatch in my listings hoping that it gives me the edge over others that say nothing.

FFM
I think that using old fashioned stamps is the key to FFM's success, no buyer will go to the bother of working out if it was posted 1st or 2nd so the package will look better than one that has 2nd in big letters on the printed stamp0 -
thanks for the comments.....
so basically when it comes to postage... 1st or 2nd..
depending on the size of the book then.... imo
if its on the heavier side..... second..... and if its light enough first....
i must admit... i have sent the odd thing second class with ebay.... and they have got there the following day....
and i send things first class... and some items have taken 2 days.... so.....
thanks for the thoughts.... :TWork to live= not live to work0 -
yes, you have to work out how it suits you best, just keep checking on the scales and PO price chart to make sure that you're not out of pocket.0

Oh how true!!!
My first sale of the year, Amazon will give me £3.50 and it's going to cost me £4.74 to post.
Might get another seller to dropship their new copy for me, that will only cost £4.70 without the hassle of packing etc and I get to keep the stock.
Ho hum

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: how did you manage that then!!!!
I had an email yesterday from a seller who couldn't find the book that he'd sold and would I send mine to the buyer, I smiled a wry smile because I've done that too - and then found the lost book days later0 -

Hangs head in shame
My system let me down, I had the weight of 1020 in my SKU so I should have known better. I've just relisted it at a higher price - I also had it available for international deliver
I know I should probably check all my listings - but it would take me all year.
