  • Don't know if any of you have seen some of the comments on other threads about 'Kevin the Courier' available on Ebay at £3.99 for up to 30kg. I'm trying him out on a book that weighed in at + 2kg with packaging. Although, on this occasion his has subcontracted out to Royal Mail Parcel Force. I will let you know how it goes, 'cos his feedback looks fairly good and his rates would certainly help on the hefty tomes we sell.

Well, my book was delivered this morning (Friday) before 9am, I should think the buyer was happy as it was only ordered 10pm Wednesday.

I'm pleased I took it to the Parcel Force depot myself rather than waiting in for Parcel Force to collect - otherwise the buyer might not have got it until after Christmas.

  • I've had the same thing happen ruthiejane, I just assumed that it was my fault somehow, even though I wasn't certain how it happened I'm afraid that my grovelling email to the buyer seemed to put the blame on Amazon

I've had it happen a few times too, really not sure how it could have happened. On one occasion I did contact the buyer and refunded - heard no more, but spent ages worrying about getting negative feedback.

On other occasions I have sourced the book from other sellers.

    FFM :)

PS I thought ruthiejane's email was very nicely worded - if I was the buyer I wouldn't rush off to neg her. The only problem is the annoying Amazon feedback reminder email that turns up 3 weeks after the sale - could prompt a neg.

I've had an odd thing happen recently - I 'sold' 3 items all on the same day, but the emails said they were 'pending and not to dispatch them until I had confirmation'. Now they all show up as cancelled. It's odd that all three happened at the same time!

Most likely due to one of Amazon's 'blips' in their payments system, they seem to happen from time to time.

    Hi
Anyone got any ideas how this may have happened? I have just received a Sold email from Amazon. Unfortunately I sold the same book through them in October. I only have one copy, I am not pro-merchant, and I just relist books using their link in the email when they time out.
How might the book have been relisted?

Also does this email to the customer sound OK?
"Thank you for your order. Unfortunately I will have to refund the price that you have paid for Beautiful Borders. Amazon appear to have made a mistake as I sold this book through them in October. I only had one copy, being a private seller, selling books that I no longer require. I am so sorry for any disappoint caused, and can only assure you that I will be contacting Amazon to ask how this can have happened.
I am so sorry for the inconvienience."

I managed to relist a book twice recently - just happened to notice it by chance in my open listings. I wondered if it is because it takes Amazon's site about 15 mins to update (or some message like that, that you get), and if you accidentally click twice in succession on the email to relist or on the same listing in the closed listing section, you don't get the "You already have this listed" message that you usually get as their database hasn't fully updated. Am I making any sense?? Know what I want to say, but tired and surrounded by wrapping paper etc etc.....

Nicely worded email by the way - I know where to go next time I need help wording something.

Changing the subject, I sold my first two books on ebay recently!! Woo hoo!!:j Had them on BIN or Best Offer - both went at full BIN price - think they were last minute Christmas presents - just hope they arrive in time. Think I managed to make a profit after all the fees and postage...

    Iran - question
I once had a buyer send me money from Spain, but he sent excess £'s that he had from his holiday. I did worry about the money going missing - would he believe me if it didn't arrive etc.

Are there other money transfers available? Or something like a travellers cheque? Then the buyer will just have to supply the amount in GBP and will pay the commission and exchange rate etc.

    USA Postage - question
If you have currently only got it listed to send UK because of the heavy weight it is reasonable to relist it at a higher price which includes Worldwide postage. If I was you, I would add a second listing that would allow them to buy it for delivery to USA and leave it up to them if they want to go ahead. Explain the reason for the price rise in your email to them.

I have a huge collection of videos to get rid of. Having looked (and tried) ebay, and seing how poorly they'd sell, I'm going to give Amazon another shot. Does anyone know if there is a profit that can be made by selling videos cheaply, like there is for selling books for 1p? I just want to get rid of it all!!!
