I listed a game on Amazon last night and this morning had a lady email me as follows:
hi tried to order ?????? game from you but says your not set up to accept payments thro amazon can you let me no why this is so i can order this game from you asap thanks alot

I've never sold anything on Amazon so I went in and found out they didn't have my bank details so couldn't pay me. I fixed that and emailed the 'customer'. She replied:
hi just tried again to order ?????? game from you and sti wont place my order as stil says... In this case, the seller is currently unable to accept payment. Amazon.co.uk Marketplace items must be paid for via Amazon Payments, and the seller in this case is unable to receive payment by that means.

Does anyone have any idea what is going wrong here - she want's it for Xmas and I'd love to send it to her too as it was an unwanted comp prize so it'll all be profit!

  • It's not SmartStamp - I thought that was what my friend meant when she told me about it and wondered how she justified the subscription. This is just printing the postage -

Ohhhhhhh!!!! Wow - I will look at that 'cos the queues are getting horrendous.

    Thank you so much!!!! 209214.gif

Hi all I've just had a 4 out of 5 rating from a buyer who bought a book, then realised she had it already and emailed me to cancel the order. I did this straight away and gave her a full refund. The accompanying complaint to the 4 out of 5 'I don't know why I have been asked for feedback because I cancelled the order'. Blue

It would be worth sending the customer a very polite email pointing out that a 4 out of 5 damages your overall rating and reputation and would they kindly delete the feedback. Just ask nicely.

Thanks Amazonbie, I didn't realise they could delete the feedback. I will do that because I was prompt with sorting it out, so she should have no complaint.

I've been listing books for most of the afternoon - The only listing on Amazon for an old university text of mine was for £181 - way too high, so ignored that. Abebooks' cheapest listing was £41 - they had 3 listed. I put mine on for £35 and described its slightly decrepit condition in detail. I'm not holding my breath for a sale - but maybe someone wants the old, original text rather than the new, updated, paperback version!

  • Don't worry too much about the 4 out of 5 BlueSkyDay once you get a few more 5's your rating will go back to 5 out 5. I have been given a 4 on two occasions (both gave glowing feedbacks??!!) but it didn't stay that way for long. A few more sales and you will be back to 5's.
I'll put in a big MOAN for you to get you more sales and tidy that rating back up.
Just got back from a quick charity shop rummage and bought Interpreting Your Child's Drawings and Handwriting by Claude Santoy and they are selling for approx £9. Just listed it so fingers crossed.
My mantra is "Never pay full price!" ;)
  • Thanks for the support and the MOAN miss_angie, it's much appreciated :D Maybe, to counteract any negative celestial resonance (what do you mean, how many glasses of wine have I had??) from 'moaning' we should agree that MOAN stands for My Oustanding Amazon News...:A :rotfl:

Well done for finding a good seller - hope it sells quickly for you. I'm still dipping my toe in the whole buying to sell market (I sound like a cheesy property dealer). I will, eventually, run out of books I'm willing to part with, so I'm starting to eye the local charity shops with a predatory gleam :D

  • I put in a claim for the lost RISI book, offered swapper any of my other books as an alternative, or offered to obtain the originally selected book from elsewhere. They don't like any of my books, and have already gone and got a copy of the book they originally wanted from me - told me to wait for RMs response as I may get a book of stamps from them... I've told them I have put claim in, just got an email saying "not heard from you, please advise". When I do hear from RM, I assume they want some of the stamps. What would you do?? Send the stamps on??

Bella, you'll only get stamps for a 'delayed' letter/packet. If it is actually lost then you'll (hopefully) get a cheque from RM. Assuming you've refunded the customer, just bank it - no need to involve the customer further.

  • Thanks Benji, but I can't refund as it was a swap. Offered other party to purchase same book from elsewhere or another book from my listings on read it swap it - both of which were declined.

Bella I'm guessing you have the other persons swapped book? Offer to send that back to them as that seems only alternative and even then include stamps as compensation for them having to post book and not receive one. You should get value of your book back anyway.
