apprentice_tycoon wrote:The quick answer about listing a book that isn't in the system is 'you can't' but pro-merchants can sort of request to have the book included in the database but I've never looked into it so I can't help there.
Amazon have recently given pro-merchants the option to add an item to their catalogue but there are a few difficulties especially if the item is already listed on other international Amazon sites.
Theres a link on the seller account page:
Add new inventory for sale
List single items
Create a product detail page in our catalogue (What's this?)
Edit product detail pages that you've created
Upload multiple items

Hi
I decided to switch off my sales over December to avoid having to queue up in my very short lunch hours. By Monday of this week I was starting to twitch, having missed my SDN'S. I have sold 8 items over the past two days, none of them biggies, but quite a few pensioners, so it has been nice to see them go.
Incidentally I was the only one in my PO when I called in yesterday!:)Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01
Taking part in Sealed Pot No.819/2011
Only essentials on Ebay/Amazon0 -
Thought I wouldn't have any sales this week so near to Xmas but sold an old cookery book 2 days ago and then tonight a video went for over £10 so am well chuffed.
Hows everyone else doing - Larmy doing well by the looks of it?
Was also the only person in the PO this affy0 -
Only 2 books in the past week, so after my magnificent achievement for the November challenge things have gone right back to normal.

Sales have definitely slowed down, I've sold the following:
Monday 4 (1 @ £30 & 1 @ £27.25 - both old 2nd hand so poss Christmas prezzies)
Tuesday 2
Wednesday 3
Thursday 1
Don't know if any of you have seen some of the comments on other threads about 'Kevin the Courier' available on Ebay at £3.99 for up to 30kg. I'm trying him out on a book that weighed in at + 2kg with packaging. Although, on this occasion his has subcontracted out to Royal Mail Parcel Force. I will let you know how it goes, 'cos his feedback looks fairly good and his rates would certainly help on the hefty tomes we sell.

Hi
Anyone got any ideas how this may have happened? I have just received a Sold email from Amazon. Unfortunately I sold the same book through them in October. I only have one copy, I am not pro-merchant, and I just relist books using their link in the email when they time out.
How might the book have been relisted?
Also does this email to the customer sound OK?
"Thank you for your order. Unfortunately I will have to refund the price that you have paid for Beautiful Borders. Amazon appear to have made a mistake as I sold this book through them in October. I only had one copy, being a private seller, selling books that I no longer require. I am so sorry for any disappoint caused, and can only assure you that I will be contacting Amazon to ask how this can have happened.
I am so sorry for the inconvienience."ilovefreegle.org - give it away don't throw it away0 -
Hi ruthiejane
I think I read about this happening to someone else - probably on this thread somewhere.
Your email to your buyer sounds fine. There's not a lot you can do.
I've had an odd thing happen recently - I 'sold' 3 items all on the same day, but the emails said they were 'pending and not to dispatch them until I had confirmation'. Now they all show up as cancelled. It's odd that all three happened at the same time!
My sales have picked up suddenly. The hours spent listing stuff at the weekend is paying off! I can't match FFM's prices, but I sold 5 on Monday, 3 on Tuesday, 3 on Wednesday, and 1 yesterday...I'm now 9 sales short of my December target

I've had the same thing happen ruthiejane, I just assumed that it was my fault somehow, even though I wasn't certain how it happened I'm afraid that my grovelling email to the buyer seemed to put the blame on Amazon

Some more stages of addiction to add..
Checking email incessantly for "Sold, Despatch Now"
Making a home-made "Large Letter" size slot!
I had a great second week - 2 local charity shops had more books than they knew what to do with so had sales. After listing about 120 books I've now sold 19!
High points have been a couple of counselling textbooks going for over £20, but the best thing was the really glowing feedback I got for one of these. I'm now up to 4 positive, all except one was 5 stars.
Low points have been: one package weighing 1,003 grams - the extra 3 grams cost me £2 extra post (must check out Kevein the courier on ebay); and the person who gave me 4/5 feedback, I think because of condition - I'd forgotten to remind him in my email that it was only "acceptable".
Just checked agian - no sales today....0
