Hi bukup, I think that the best advice I can give is to keep checking this thread, there are always little nuggets of advice that pop up regularly in amongst the brags and the moans.

Welcome to the club, you're number 60 and good luck with the target!
  • I have just sold this book:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1903116139/202-8426027-7988663

It must be that time of year :) I'm currently filling up bin bags of junk/rubbish and loading up my car, I think I'll have a quick read of it before posting.

Not an unreasonable target Deb - good luck with it.

I sold about that last financial year and I have 2 kids and a full time job, so it is extremely do-able - sourcing is the hardest thing.

Should be finalising my tax return as we speak, why do I always leave it until the last minute? Last year at this time I got most of 05/06 prepared and was determined to submit early - yet here I am again with only 2-3 weeks before the deadline.

    Ho hum.

Just one comment (based on my own experience), assuming you are a PM and if you are planning on £5k sales I would recommend it to save fees, use the SKU to your advantage.

Putting the location in your description is good if you are not a PM.

If you use the SKU field you can sort and search with it in your open listings. So, if you wanted to know the contents of a box/shelf you can narrow it down. This also lets you reprice a single box - if you wanted to.

The SKU is also included in the title of the SDN email - can be useful for quick retrieval as you don't have to open up your description to locate the book. It also shows on your sold listings so you don't have to go through so many clicks.

I include the listing date, source of book, weight of book, current cost to post in UK, etc in my SKU's, this helps me make sure that I don't reprice a heavy book too low and lose out on postage.

Nice to see that you're not pricing lowest all the time, your 100% feedback will put you in a good position over 90%+ sellers.

Good luck with the sales, they seem to have picked up over the past few days.

I think that you've been eavesdropping in my head - I've just been giving myself a severe telling-off about leaving it to the last minute. It spoils Christmas and my b/day knowing that it's to be done at this time of year. I complain that my ebay work is slack in the summer so why didn't I make a start then? no reason at all as far as I can see......

    Hi AT

Hope you did actually have a good Christmas :)

My b/day was just before Christmas and I hadn't really considered sitting down to do my returns by then so it wasn't spoilt.

I've just been looking into Turbo Lister for books (Ebay) 'cos it said in the info that some book details would be prefilled using ISBN but I can't see it, I don't think they do books yet. Do you know anything about this?

  • sorry, can't help there - I gave up on turbo last spring (I use Auctiva) and don't bother with ebaying books, they do less well for me than Greenmet and that's saying something!

Wow! That is saying something - probably not worth the fees then, I was thinking about trying a 'shop', trouble is the listing is so time consuming compared to Amazon - I'd hoped the turbo lister might help.

Oh, well, back to the drawing board.
