Teepee I think this would be down to your discretion as Saturday and Sunday are non working days. I personally would send it first class but then most of my stuff goes first, except for heavy cheap books which I take a chance and send them second otherwise there would be no profit at all. HTH.

if i sold a book and received the email sat tea time, can I post the book 2nd class monday or does it have to go first cos they ordered it saturday??

There is no clear instruction from Amazon to post First Class - there have been lots of discussions on this and we have all agreed to differ.

Amazon ask that you 'dispatch' within 2 working days, so to post on Monday would be absolutely fine.

I always use 2nd class post and have lots of feedback about the speed of delivery. Others prefer 1st class.

    Happy selling, FFM :)

I learned a lesson this week. I sold a Sesame Street Video. It had two stories on it, the one that was listed, but the second was a variation and I clearly stated it on my listing.

Sent it off, only to recieve an email from the buyer saying that they had asked for a different video, so had to refund. Doh. It seems that they probably did not read the listing and only bought it as the video was the cheapest. As it looked like my error, I told them to keep the first one or take it to a charity shop. Refund of £9.50. Ouch. I wont do that again - list a variation I mean.

    Huge OUCH!

I've been caught a couple of times like that too - mainly where Amazon's database is wrong and they state Hardback whereas the ISBN is correct but I have a Paperback (or vice versa) and even though everyones listings state the actual binding Amazon still take the side of the buyer.

    Ho Hum FFM :)

thanks for the advice, will post tomorrow and check price difference. Do you have anything on your feedback? I noticed some people put a deadline time for posting ie before 3.30pm

I've tried to list a few things - mainly x-box games for my son but it comes up that some of them cant be found.

Can you not list anything that Amazon itself doesnt sell or is there a way that you have to do it.

What about discontinued lines, like a sage version or slow cooker. Can you not put discontinued items on?

Hi hilary, the straightforward answer is if your item isn't in Amazons database then you can't sell it so it would have to go on ebay - a lot of us on this thread are using a combination of amazon, ebay, green metropolis and readitswapit to get the items sold

Hi tee pee, I've seen that in descriptions, I think that is only used by some sellers that say they will dispatch on the same day so long as the order is in by 3.30pm.

FFM is right that we all have different opinions of 1st class/ 2nd class, I'm in the 1st class camp because I write it in my descriptions as a good selling point to make my book sound better than the rival books. FFM is also correct that his books will get delivered quickly and his customers are very happy but he uses old fashioned stamps so the customer doesn't know if he sent it 1st or 2nd (unless they want to add them up and check the RM price list) but if you have a post office sticker stamp that will say 2nd so the customer will know.
  • I always use 1st class post for the same reasons as AT. Also, I can do same day posting.

When I ordered from the marketplace in the past the books took several days to come and I regretted not ordering direct from Amazon for the quicker delivery.

I have the exact opposite experience. In every case where I have ordered from Amazon direct I have waited days for my goods, whereas in most case I have had books from marketplace sellers in three or four days.

I have been buying lots of books recently (I did try, honest I did try to stop! :o ) and am still waiting for one delivery from Amazon that was ordered last Wednesday. The two books were showing as in stock yet my stuff has not even been despatched yet.
