can I ask, what is the lowest price you can sell a book to make money. I listed a book in for 50p, and with amazon's charges etc and postage which was £1.70 I made 9p and out of that I would also hae to buy an envelope.

Do you seasoned Amazoner's have a system or is the theory 9p is better than nothing?

    Thanks

I see what you mean 9p isn't a pension fund really....if you look in post 2 there is a ready reckoner for how much profit each price will make after you've taken the postage into consideration. Or you could use http://www.ezaytools.co.uk/ there is a profit calculator for both ebay and amazon

oh thank you for that, I had reedited my listing prices as I panicked I had done them too cheap and it would end up costing me money, but I can check them now.

    Thanks

  • Just an observation - 12 of my 18 sales (since our challenge started) have been for brand new books. So, it does look as if people are buying presents now rather than used books for themselves.

Probably explains why none of mine are selling! :o
  • This is a feedback entry for today...

"Splendid! A rather large lady in Russian Army uniform kicked in my door, smacked me about a bit and told me to buck up my ideas and have more confidence! As she left she shoved my Video up my nostril and snorted as I wilted into the wallpaper!"

The item was a Paul Mckenna self confidence video, d'you think that he's watched yet? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
  • I'm sorry for you annie - wonder why it has slowed for you? I thought november was the busiest month too, maybe it will pick up near the end of the month as it will be right near christmas. Good luck! I'm routin' for you. :j I know you said you were busy this month, but is there any chance you can buy some new stock? That might help?

My challenge is going well, I have sold 16 items in 3 days - which is pretty amazing actually, but I am sure it is because I listed about 20 DVDs and CDs the other night. I also went to charity shops today and bought about 15 books, which I shall list later. If my sales carry on this way I will def meet the challenge and then some, that would be great. Good luck to everyone else, seems like most people are doing well so far.

Thanks Kat - well I have sold another 4 today and managed to pick up a couple of boxes of freebies and arrange for another load of FREE boxes later in week. Out of the ones I have listed there are a couple of real goodies like an algebra book which listed for £50 and a rather large arty book which I listed for £35. 60% of the books I got today are new and have never been opened let alone read so thats a bigger bonus. Hopefully I will sell them quickly as they will all be good crimbo pressies.
  • I got a book at a boot sale this morning that is listed as out of print on Amazon and there are no copies on either Amazon or Bookfinder - any advice about listing price, should i start high or just put what i'd be happy with ?

A very lucky Father Jack by the sounds of it! - have you checked Abe books here? if you can't find it anywhere else then put a high price on and just sit on it
