So I tried signing up with this company, completely aware that I had ten days to cancel. However, when I clicked 'I agree, submit' after entering my details - it then proceeded to tell me that my actions could not be completed at this time and to try again later.
I thereby went to a different company and got my report from them.
Two weeks later I see money has been taken from my account.
Obviously I rang them and got the same old nonsense down the phone (Aww, the website wasn't broken that day...) and have sent letters and they are still refusing to refund. I cannot contact my bank and get them to sort it out for thirty days!0 -
I did read it all before signing up and was aware they would charge me within a cartain amount of days, so i rang staraight after i was sent me credit check, they told me to ring back in two hours as my details were not on the system yet.
I rang back, apprantly cancelled it, on the 22nd i got two charges of £19.95, one for the credit check and another for the rewards, which to be honest I thought i opt out of????
I rang them and they told me they would ring back after they looked into it as there would be a recorded phone call, they said they wouldnt ring back but i would get an email, i knew what the email would say so I was ready to make a fuss, they wont refund me.....but im not giving up!
What was even more annoying was that there is one number to rring to cancel, but make sure you give both memership numbers, one for credit score and the other being the rewards as they will only canx the one and wont warn you! very sneaky!
Im going to get a refund if it kills me!
any tips would be great!

nice helpful comment!
Even if you do read the T&C and cancel it within the right amount of time, they take your money so there is clearly something not right here, which is why people post helpful comments on this site and share their own circumstances rather than joining in convo for the sake of it.0 -

1. You wont get it back
2. Its a cheap lesson
3. Research/google/search MSE thoroughly ANY company you are planning to use
4. [STRIKE]99.9%[/STRIKE] 100% of companies giving "free trials" are to be completely avoided
5. Be thankful it wasnt a Nigerian scam you fell for because you would be down much more!!

StuartKirton wrote: »Just to let everyone know, I was about to put this down to a lesson learned after they took 2 payments from our account - same thing as what happened to every1 else. I only decided to fight it after I realised how many people it has happened to. I have hounded Credit Score Matters & Rewards Now for a week with threatening emails - saying I was going to Police etc - demanding proof that we asked for account with Rewards Now - generally giving them a hard time - We have now had an apology and a refund! DONT GIVE IN!
My phone call was not recored apprantly because im am calling from work (NHS) and its witheld?? they keep asking me to get proof like a phone bill which they know is impossible if work at a hospital!0 -
I am currently fighting Credit Score Matters for over £300 of monthly charges over the past year and a half with many failed attempts to cancel. I never knowingly set up this subscription as I am currently with Credit Expert and pay them monthly so why would I??
Anyway they have came back with their reply of 'we sent you a welcome email' - thats it. They won't refund anything.
Further to that they have enclosed in a letter to myself a claim form of one of their other customers full details including membership id, name, address, postcode and email address. This actually allows me access their membership! This has gone beyond money it is now a confidentiality breach and I am NOT HAPPY!!!
I've fully read this thread and can sympathise with many of you but I'm not giving up. They will pay this money back and they do have questions to answer regarding this information I've received by accident.
As for others who are saying free trial's are a con - That is not enirely true, I set up with credit expert with a 30 day free trial. Fantastic service and I continue to pay it monthly - FACT
I'll go back to what my mum used to say ...............
'If you don't have anything nice to say - don't say anything at all!!!'
Hope everyone on here doesn't give up and keep on chasing this con of a company for a refund!
This thread has given me some faith that I may succeed0 -
I contacted the OFT on 08454 040506 who were very helpful, told me to send them a letter recorded delivery, they have guidline letters on their website, you just have to change a few bits, send it recorded delivery and make a copy!!
I was prepared for an argument, even wrote down the date they needed to reply to me within (14 days) but surprisingly noticed a refund of £19.95 from credit score matters and the £19.95 refund from the rewards, this was on the 16th!
Two names i took down from credit score matters for being very un helpful were Aaron Roberts and Chris Shakur - I have a feeling this was the reason i got a refund?!?!
Hope this post is helpful0 -
This is my first post here, hello all.
I too experienced acute frustration with Rewards Now and Credit Score Matters. Absolute rubbish. I didn't agree to any terms and conditions, no ASDA voucher. Nothing at all.
Anyway, my first letter of complaint to them wasn't challenging enough, and I received a response saying they wouldn't be able to refund me. Their idea of proof of me entering an agreement with them, was to attach a screenshot of their website. Quite insufficient methinks.
I then proceeded to write the below, and received this positive response. They have said that they will refund me within 7-10 days. I will confirm with you all if it happens.
Don't give up. And should you want to take anything from my letter below, please feel free and I really hope you succeed.
All the best,
ClarkyCat

I write further to the debits that your company has made from my bank account on xxxx xxxxx xxxx, in the sum of £xx.xx by Credit Score Matters and a £xx.xx by Rewards Now. I do not recall agreeing to your organisation taking such payments. Furthermore, I do not appear to have received any products or services from either of these companies. Please acknowledge receipt of this email and provide the following information:
- Details of the terms and conditions on which you are relying in order to take these payments and evidence of my agreement to such terms;
- Details of how you came to receive my bank details/debit card details;
- A screen shot showing how the terms and conditions were presented on your website;
I am deeply unhappy at what I consider to be the very underhanded tactics used to establish my account. Clearly I am not the only person who feels this way, as a search on the internet reveals much adverse comment and publicity.
I confirm that I wish to cancel any subscription with immediate effect and do not authorise any further payments. I also request an immediate refund of any payments taken from my account. In the absence of an agreement to refund these charges I require that you provide a copy of your complaints procedure and details of any third parties to whom you are obliged to refer unresolved complaints.
Should you fail to provide the above in timely manner I reserve the right to report the matter to the Office of Fair Trading.
Regards,

Hi everyone,
I have had payments taken from my credit card since 2010!!! Tried my hardest to cancel this as I didn't sign up for it in the first place. I don't care what anyone says they stole my card details and used them unlawfully! I supposedly ticked a box when buying something else??!!
Anyway....
Thanks to the persons post above I wrote a similar email using the format given in the above post. - thank you so much!
I also went through their terms and conditions of membership with a pen and noted everything they had done wrong or hadn't done at all.
For starters their T&Cs state we should receive a welcome pack by post which we did not - the T&C's states we can cancel by phone at anytime, they tell you on the phone it must be in writing.... list is endless!
We also had another one of their members full membership details attached to the paperwork sent out to us so I also told them that it was a breach of account holders confidentiality and data protection act and I was very concerned about the security of my own information they hold. I also told them I was contacting the member directly to inform her of their mistake.
They owed me over £370 and 1 day later after this 2nd email we received a phone call surprise surprise telling us we'll have a full refund within 7 to 10 days. Was still a bit sceptical to be honest but ............
THEY PAID UP!!!!! over £370 is now refunded to my card!!!!
I have blocked that card and got a new one sent out....just to be sure.
So don't give up everyone if you've been taken advantage of by this company threaten them with everything!!!!
Good Luck :j0 -
I finally got around to sending in my complaint about the charges theyve taken from my account even tho I never accessed my report or got fully registered as they sent me a letter requesting further proof of address which I never sent so hadnt even started using the services when they took out 3 months worth of fees all of a sudden. Complaint got sent recorded delivery and they have acknowledged my letter and said they will respond within 14 days so will wait and see where we are next with this and will update once I know more.0

Update on my complaint - they have refused it on the basis that they were saying that in their letter telling me they needed further info they were not saying they cant provide a service and I received a welcome email from them that stated that members will be billed then there is no reason for a refund. I think I will have to go through all their terms and conditions now on their website to see what it actually says about what happens if they need further info etc0
