  • I joined creit score matters a couple of months ago, I too got the message about asda vouchers but fortunately realised I would be charged monthly for this before i clicked send. However last month (5th September) I went onto the creditscorematters web site clicked on contact us then went to cancel membership. i asked them to cancel my membership with immediate effect clicked send, the e-mail automatically disappears at that point. Then a message pops up saying we have recieved your request and will contact you within a few days. Well they never contacted me, last night I checked my bank account online and found they had again gone into my account and taken £19.95 causing my account to be overdrawn. I have contacted them again and they have confirmed that they will now cancel my membership but they refuse to refund the £19.95 because they claim they never recieved cancellation request and will not refund unless I can produce the e-mail which their site automatically cancels so you are unable to save the message you send them. They are obviously just con merchants. i am absolutely sick of big companies who just rob people of their money. My bank have said they will try to get money back if i write to their disputes department. more hassle and time to get back my own money!!!!!!

I had a feeling it would only be a matter of time before they took advantage of their "contact us" page not providing the customer with a copy of the email they sent. It SHOULD be included in an automated response to your email address but of course that makes it impossible to keep your money doesn't it. This really is disgusting and it could very well be a new tactic to combat people becoming wise to this vile little scam.

From what you're saying, it looks like the message popped up on screen when you sent it via their "contact us" page. They previously sent this automated response to the "customer's" email address. I might be missing something but are you certain you didn't receive anything in your inbox? Because even if it's just an automated message, they'd still need to provide you with a copy of what this was a response to. Of course they won't be able to and would just refund you.

It's really quite worrying because the two posts prior to the above one also show that new tactics are being used by this lot. I think the fact that they have taken money from somebody under 18 for a service they simply aren't able to provide is beyond belief. But that's how this lot conduct business. Providing an actual service is not a priority for them - getting their hands on your money is their only goal.
I explained that he is at SCHOOL so he could not. They 'explained' that he must have clicked on a pop-up and when I said they shouldn't sign-up under18s, they said it was up to him to read the terms and conditions which state you have to be over 18:mad:

I guarantee that they would never ever put this in writing. That's why there's just no point speaking to these morons on the phone. They enjoy the freedom they get to say whatever the hell they like knowing full well that they could just deny it if they were challenged by the authorities. If you read their terms and conditions it actually states that the service isn't available to under 18s. But instead of simply making it impossible to enter a date of birth younger than 18, they have inserted an absolutely disgusting paragraph into their T&C's which has been written with the full knowledge that children will inevitably try to sign up with their company at some point. So they needed to make sure their trap was included in their terms and conditions so they were covered in the event that a child's parent might want some answers. The fact that this is clearly premeditated is just grotesque. Brace yourself, here it is........

1.3 Only those Members that are over the age of 18 will be able to access their credit reports and/or credit information. A person who does not qualify as described in paragraph 1.2, is prohibited from becoming or being a Member. Any person who becomes a Member (or purports to do so), makes a statement, upon which we are entitled to rely, that that person is aged 18 years or older.

So basically, they'll allow kids to sign up and take their money but they won't supply a service and it's the kid's fault because they shouldn't have entered their details (including the fact they're 17 years old). Just when I thought I knew everything about how low this company will go, they've stooped to a new level by targeting children!!!! Why the hell is it even an option? Your son MUST have entered his correct date of birth, otherwise his bank wouldn't have allowed the transaction to go through. If I conned a kid out of money I would expect to be jailed for it.

Trading standards should be alerted to this really. Make sure you demand proof of your son's enrollment Angryparent. They expect you to just take their word for it but without any evidence, they are fully aware that if it escalated to a Court hearing, they would be simply destroyed because they NEVER supply any evidence at all.

And don't forget to keep the complaints flooding in to Consumer Direct as this is the only way to make the Office of Fair Trading take some action against this calculated little scam. The link is below and it only takes a few minutes to fill in:

Which one of the 3 main CRAs do this company represent?

Oh, CallCredit, the one that the fewest lenders use.

£2 for a statutory report on their own website.

When will people learn to read and use some common sense?

I'm posting this because I can read, and as for common sense, I thought the aim of this forum was to help others.

I signed up, never received any information, so could not access my details, and cancelled too late. The trial period is in very small print at the bottom of the homepage and the firm ensure that they at the top of google, knowing that people will go for such a firm, make sure the trial period is not obvious.

Agree - avoid "free trial period" offers like the plague, they are all designed to catch people out, who do not cancel in time, hopefully for many months. Interested to know if others have successfully complained, left speechless after twice being offered the chance to rejoin the scheme!
  • Hi Fyffes - I'm sorry didn't reply sooner but thank you for your helpful information.

I have got my son's bank account manager on the case because I wanted to report it as fraud. However, because the company have been given my son's card details, (for a revolving debit transaction which the banks cannot stop!) 'technically' it isn't fraud. The bank have asked me for his birth certificate which they will send to Credit Score Matters to prove my son's age, along with a letter from me (incorporating most of the advised stuff in other posts). The bank have said that if Credit Score Matters refuse to refund (CSM have already agreed to stop the debits, thank goodness), then we may have to get the police involved. Lets hope it doesn't come to that but I'm more than willing (they really don't know what they've let themselves in for because I won't let anyone get away with something so fundamentally WRONG) to go the whole hog on this - it adds a whole new dimension to being 'robbed blind'!
  • Do not register witth CREDIT SCORE MATTERS or their 'new' website QUICK CREDIT SCORE.

When I registered with credit score matters they sent me an email with membership details which you need to put in to their website to see your credit score. However when I went to do this I was unable to click on the box to input the details in to. It is a fake website.

In addition to this, they also create a sister account without your knowledge and they register you to a company called REWARDSNOW.CO.UK and they send you an email saying you have 10 days to cancel this account or they will charge you £19.95.

    Unbelievable.

I have passed this on to trading standards.
  • they aren't taking the money out of your account "fraudently" ...if people actually bothered to read the terms and conditions or cancelled within the trial period to stop them from being charged, you wouldn't be in this mess and its hardly the companies fault since it states in the T&C's so many times that fees will be charged after the trial period...why do so many companies get shat on purely because people haven't used their common sense and did their research and reading first!!!!

  • I have to admit, I'm always a little amused when people say "I gave my bank details for a free thing and then got charged!"

Come on people - if it's free, why do they need your bank details? This is hardly rocket science. Read the terms you're agreeing to!

Isn't it a touch ironic that you're advising people to pay more attention to detail when you yourselves clearly haven't bothered to read this thread from the beginning? You're just repeating what has already been said and has already proven to be very unpopular. And more importantly, you're both missing the point entirely because you didn't research this particular company before commenting.

You're no better than cyber bullies and you really need to take a long hard look at yourselves in the mirror before dishing out pointless criticism of people who are seeking advice. You obviously get a kick out of online bullying but could you at least show some respect by keeping your pompous comments to yourselves (or at least come up with something that hasn't already been said numerous times).

If you'd bothered to read the thread, you'd have seen that it's not a case of simply not reading the T&C's. It's far more complex than that. This company has in fact just had their second OFT investigation and has once again been found to be operating unfairly. But that didn't stop you two blundering into this thread with your utterly irrelevant remarks did it?

I just don't understand why there's dozens of you trawling these forums with the sole intention of putting the boot in. Haven't you got anything better to do than making people feel worse than they already do? And not one of you has ever given an explanation as to why you do it. Would either of the above two posters like to enlighten us? We'd all really love to know why on earth you spend your spare time belittling people on the internet.

I too have had £19.95 removed from my account. On querying it was told I had been given 10 days to change my mind. I said I cannot access the site as I have never been sent login details but it made no difference. They are rogues so beware.

Have just spoken to Credit Score Matters again and they have changed their mind and will refund due to their not sending out an id number! So I have to say that I have changed my mind about them always assuming that the refund actually happens.
