There is some pure greed from people on this offer getting well over and above what the item was even worth in the first place - more fool Amazon for going to such compensation levels though - all it does mean is there will be less chance of offers like this in the future.

I'm more than happy with the £5 as Amazon didn't have to give any compensation if they didn't want to.

This section of MSE has grown into a monster and if people don't get misprices or bargains its straight into the compensation culture route. Makes me sick.

Good on those that got the box (hope the OP did) and good on Amazon for giving some compensation.

    Next bargain please.

Just wondered as to what time your confirmation email of order was received.
My order was confirmed at 11:05pm - i.e. not long after this thread was first posted. My order also included a couple of other items which were sent separately.
I also ordered by 1st class, and kept changing it every couple of days to bring the dispatch date forward.

My order has disappeared from my account.
No e-mail received to tell me I'm not getting the boxset.
A couple of other items i ordered have been delivered and i have now been charged postage as the total wasn't enough to qualify for free postage once the boxset was cancelled.
I'm not after compensation but an e-mail would have been nice to tell me I'm not going to receive the boxset and to let me know i would be charged for delivery.

Lucky you. I was offered nothing. What was more insulting however is that the call centre wallah who answered my e-mail didn't even bother to read it properly, otherwise they would have not replied in the manner they did. I wasn't complaining about the order cancellation, rather the manner in which it was done.

I am really disappointed. I have spent best part of £1000 with Amazon in the last six months and have always found them to be a very reliable company with which to deal. If they are now going to delete orders with no notification or explanation then I am going to have to find another supplier.

This is the most frustrating thing - they do not read (or understand) the e-mail properly and just reply with standard responses not addressing any of the issues raised - I am going to call them tomorrow and hopefully get a satisfactory response to my queries
  • That's my issue too naomi. I was aggrieved with the way it was handled.
Ho hum, can't be bothered with amazon anymore, they really mucked around when i rented dvd's from them too, so I've become less and less impressed. But then it's not the india call centres fault, or jo bloggs who works for them. People are right, £5 is an adequate compensation, but I won't be using it as have no intention of buying from them anymore, and if that makes me a greed filled monster then so be it, puts me on a parr with the fat cats who run amazon.

I've had my £5.00 offer email, which I will probably accept.
However, having checked the other items I ordered at the same time as the Disney DVDs (which just disappeared from my order with no explanation) they are sending me the other three items ordered, but have now charged me £3.93 postage because it now falls under £15.00!!! Not very happy about this at all and have fired off a quick email. I am not happy about speaking to them - the two people I have spoken to recently from Amazon have not seemed to understand a word I have said (nor me them). Any ideas anyone?
