VeryTrying wrote:I take your point about not being able to put up a CURRENT and incorrect label. I suppose the problem is that nobody has bothered changing last week's label when the items were cheaper. The computer/till price is now dearer, but a correspondingly dearer label hasn't been put up. Therefore, I've been suckered into buying ........
Human error? Or is the shortage of suitable staff accidental or deliberate? A higher wage bill caused by more and better staff would seriously reduce Tesco profits ...... therefore I assume a policy decision has been taken to live with a lower wage bill and a greater number of errors.
...... and I'm in the wrong forum. Sorry.
Nobodys bothered is a little harsh.....but anyway...
Human error - sometimes, others there can be systems errors where although the system price has changed the label simply hasnt generated...this is what has happened when you get the same misprice in a large amount of stores. Of course more staff would help in any business, but how it would affect profits or what decisions have been take around that is not for me to comment on...Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

spa2k wrote:As I understood it ...the xbox fiasco happened because the posters were incorrect ...All labels that i saw were simply yellow and didnt have a discount amount on them.
No, there were plenty of labels as well as muco posters that had the date and info on them.

Remember I was overcharged on annual travel insurance due to 20% off leaflets still being on display? Store wouldn't refund me:mad: . HO told me it wasn't an overcharge when I rang and implied I'd put the leaflets there too:mad:     .
Wrote to Terry leahy asking for a response by 29/09/06. Didn't get a reply ,so I cancelled the policy as we aren't needing the insurance for the next few months.
Got a phone call today from chief execs office telling me I hadn't had a reply as Terry's away on business and would I like a cheque or giftcard for the full refund?:T :j :T :j :T :j So Tesco are sending me £96 when Terry returns from wherever as he likes to read through all letters before he signs them.
I asked why both HO and the store said the leaflet meant R+R didn't apply and she said that they were both in the wrong to say that and there was going to be more training offered to the staff concerned.
So, according to the woman I spoke to today from THE tesco office, R+R policy DOES apply when there are out of date leaflets remaining in store that are advertising a lower price. :T0 -

One year's free travel insurance also...I mean if you have cancelled it aren't they just returning what you paid...Or is this a double refund?Sorry if I misread it.0 -
spa2k wrote:1) The labels are not current - in our store they say 2 for £3.76 - I put them out!!
2) The op put that the price in asda is £1.10, not the normal price (i then changed it to normal price in my reply)....and profit = money left after all costs taken out....no way would the 65p be profit an a £1.75 item. The profit on such an item would be 35p at most!! The 65p would be extra turnover granted of which 12p would be extra profit. If profit margins were as high as the example then there would be a much higher profit than £1.1bn per 6 months.
But if the price should be £1.10, but is OVERCHARGED at £1.75, then there is 65p extra profit.0 -

I guess the key word here is should...who dictates what the price SHOULD be...
the op put that the price in asda is £1.10....that is their price based on their contract with the supplier.
Verytrying then stated that the price in Tesco was £1.75. Again this price is based on the contract with the supplier, there is nothing to say that the contracts are the same therefore there is nowt to dictate what the price should be.Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

Tesco put a label on a shelf showing that boxes of tea bags are for sale at £1.00 each. Gosh, think I, I'll take six boxes to last the next two months because it's such a good buy. But then I get to the till, and the computer decides to charge me £1.75 per box - not such a good buy, especially since ASDA are selling them at £1.10. So Tesco have benefitted twice over, once by getting £1.75 for a box of teabags available elsewhere for £1.10 (65p extra profit), and then by persuading me to buy SIX boxes (rather than go to ASDA where they are cheaper).
Here is the original scenario set, I think there is some confusion over just exactly who is interpreting what from it,
In red the op declares a price tag displayed of £1.00 the second poster is referring to this as the "correct" price for this store hence the stated 65p extra profit rather than turnover.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
IME if something is £1.75 in Tesco, it wouldn't surprise me to see it for £1.10 in Asda. Tesco - pile 'em high and sell 'em cheap. The first bit is correct.I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0
