Tesco misprice discussion area part 12

Constantine wrote:No. Different stores can charge different prices. For example, say one store had 3 mods of toys and another had 8 mods. Buckaroo may well drop out of range for a 3 mod store, triggering a price reduction (typically 50% then 75% until sold through), whilst staying in range for the 8 mod store (and therefore staying at the original price).0

Case in point: Statistics can be manipulated to mean whatever you like, but more often than not are nonsense.
No matter how bad Tesco is, saying they have a "50% error rate" is way off the mark
And I thought I was bad at sums ........
In Tesco I was overcharged by £1 on a £0.51 item - a 196% overcharge. In Morrisons I was overcharged £2.40 on a £4.80 item, that's 100% - only half of Tesco's overcharge rate!
You can try to fiddle the figures all you want, but it only makes Tesco look even worse.0 -
foreignshopper wrote:Hi,
Wonder if you'd be prepared to answer a couple of questions for me ? I've put it on open forum as others may be interested in any reply you can give. Apologies if this is 'old hat' but I'm new to this.
I just scored on some McVities Temptations biscuits, SEL 5.99 but charged 7.99. I'm pretty sure this is a current offe valid into November but other stores in my area are not displaying the 'offer' SEL. Would I be right in thinking that if it nationally advertised on the internet that individual stores must honour the offer, whether or not they are displaying the offer SEL ?
What is T policy on refunds if you do not have a receipt ?
Would be very grateful for any advise,
Regards
Without knowing the terms of the advert, its hard to say. An advert would usually include a disclaimer along the lines of "prices correct at time of publication", so no...
Policy on refunds is that you don't get one without proof of purchase. There is a refund policy notice board up at the CSD of all stores (same place as the famous "if things dont add up" one)

Can understand what you are saying on different models but say if one store is selling a tin of biscuits, on special offer, for £2 and another was selling it for £3 then wouldnt that qualify for a price check?
Do you have a specific example you are thinking of here? (sorry if I missed an earlier post, had a bit to wade through tonight).Who or what was I before you came in to my life

This has been said SSsooo many times, but I will repeat it anyway, as I find it very profitable for me....
Try ANOTHER Tesco store !
I did this the other day, and had a lovely lady apologising for overcharging me on the DAB radio:) and didn't feel conspicuous as I spoke to different cs staff than usual!
She kept my reciept though, as she was 'worried about proving she'd done a refund and proving the white label was wrong'
Should i be concerned as it probably has my details on it?0 -

It will only have your details on it(so to speak) if you used your Tesco credit Card or your Club Card.
It is against the Data Protection Act for them to obtain details from your Tesco(or any other) Credit Card.....unless I would imagine you had committed a crime.
However, if you used a Club Card.....they just need to swipe the card in their computer tills and it brings up the details you gave them when you registered.
Unless you are "marked" in that store, I doubt whether they will use your details to your detriment.
Its not wise to use a clubcard, if you dont use it, you dont have this worry.Couponing....."every little hurts"
Half of the people can be part right all of the time, Some of the people can be all right part of the time.
But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

Why not combine R&R hunting with end of day reductions ?
That way if you don't actually get it for FREE, you will get it for a few pence.
Again shop around ( pardon the pun) different stores vary ENORMOUSLY on the reductions - one of the biggest I go to knocks about 10% off the price, then clears the shelves and no bargins to be had
My local are brilliant and a real source of some FANTASTIC reductions - fillet and rump steak down to 50p, smoked salmon 10p.....of course it is very hit and miss, and you have to be prepared to swallow your pride to be hunting thru the bargins with all the other regulars.
Another large store I went to recently had a very novel approach. If you found anything on the shelf which was sell-by that date, you took it to the bloke doing the reductions and he knocked 90% off - I filled the freezer with silver and top-side joints, none cost more than £1.
Also, it is not always half an hour before closing that they do their reductions - it could be 8 or 9pm. Again the only way you will find out what YOUR store does is to spend time and make the effort to find out. Even different departments may do THEIR reductions at different times - eg bread and bakery, fruit and veg, meat etc
This is one of the reasons I don't push my luck with the R&R, I REALLY do not want to get banned, nor to have staff who are not friendly and hlepful to this Old Bag
P.S if you see an Old Bag lady with a tin of dog food in her trolley - remember to leave that last piece of fillet steak on the shelf;)0 -

HO have confirmed that it's per item, as I was overcharged on 4 of the same item and the store refused to give £8 on a gift card, stating it's one per transaction. HO sent me the remaining £6 and a letter confirming that it's per item and not per transaction.[/QUOTE
I stand corrected! Apoligies!
Shows how good my training is!

My local store doesn't have a scanner but it does have the self scanning checkouts. Can you start scanning goods, act all idiotic like you've more stuff to buy, cancel everything, and go back? Could check a few prices that way.0
