Karnam wrote:to be honest self scan things look pretty basic, if you're in a huge extra do they even have time/computer processing power to cross reference this sort of thing?
and even if they did so they know you purposely allowed them to overcharge you. so your motives dont look great but then again, there is no obligation to point out the misprice at the till, so you just took advantage of situation. doesn't mean you werent overcharged does it?In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

If they wanted to, they could definitely do this.
They log a self scan ...
... and ten minutes later they log a R&R on that item.
Bit of CCTV footage from the CS desk and the cashiers ...
Of course, you're right : the overcharge still took place and so the R&R is fair. I'm just saying that it would definitely mark you out as playing the system.0 -
thats true actually. trackability is not brilliant - wear a disguise, use cash and look shifty!:A Boots Tart :A0

Playing the system is not illegal. Displaying misleading price indications is.In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

Went for the Dab radio that was being discussed this morning but SEL correct.
This has been said SSsooo many times, but I will repeat it anyway, as I find it very profitable for me....
Try ANOTHER Tesco store !
Some stores are red-hot - esp if they have been given a right b0ll0xing from on high, and/or had a bad day/week with r&r. They will not be able to keep up the pace in the long-term.
But, in the short-term try another store - even an express/metro etc that you never usually go in. I know WE seem to number hundreds/thousands, but you never know YOU might find a store who hasn't got a regular R&Rer. Plus you will not feel as paranoid about being watched etc, as you are totally unknown to the staff.
Also you may find different stock, different offers, different out of date sels to your local store.
If all else fails, and no alternative store is convenient, just make sure you scrutinise your receipt - too much focus on the items posted about often blinds you to the ones right under your nose.
Make a list as you go round, and if nothing else these barren times will get you in good training, and make you know your list of things to look for, off by heart
Also, by the time you DO find something, the staff will be so used to your odd behaviour - peering at sels closely, scanning every book.cd and dvd on the shelf, flicking through the games (to find one with a lower priced sticker) that they won't suss you are up to something untill it is too late.;)
I think I have become a bit of a local celebraty, that old bag who comes in twice a day, spends 40 minutes walking EVERY aisle, and goes out having bought a tin of dog food !:o
