The following conversation took place tonight, wonder if these members of srtaff have had the retraining that Leahey was going to organise?

Overheard conversation between two CS staff, went something like..........." never call Carol or Mark as they always overule us and make us look like !!!!! in front of the customers"
  • looked for the Temptation biscuits in 2 stores today, first store had the 5.99 SEL up but shelves had been cleared, second store no Temptations or SEL :(
    will keep looking

how far afield do people go for misprices?

i am lucky as i can to uni in london so can look at 3 different metros in london as well as 3 metros local to home. ive only done one R&R and to be honest would be weary of doing one at the tescos where i do my usual weekly shop.

  • Anyone wary of doing a scan and then going for an R&R?
Would probably be very easy for them to cross-reference scanned items with items they've given refunds on. And if you've paid by card ...

Not everywhere, quite a few stores scan at £1.74 and bogof - 87p each!

Most stores have been selling them off for £1.74 - check the Cranium thread to see what I mean. They're £1.74 in all the stores in my local area (and I was told it's nationwide).
In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

to be honest self scan things look pretty basic, if you're in a huge extra do they even have time/computer processing power to cross reference this sort of thing?

and even if they did so they know you purposely allowed them to overcharge you. so your motives dont look great but then again, there is no obligation to point out the misprice at the till, so you just took advantage of situation. doesn't mean you werent overcharged does it?

Oh, they don't necessarily need Carol or Mark for that.

You misunderstand the statistics, perhaps that's why you find them endlessly boring! I compared a 2.5% overcharge at Morrisons with a 39% overcharge at Tesco.

But you can't compare the two as one was a £97 spend and one was a £3.58 spend. Your sample size in Morrisons was far far bigger than your sample size of 2 in Tesco.

Looking at it another way. In Tesco you were overcharged by £1 on a £1.51 item. Thats a 66.2% overcharge. In Morrisons you were overcharged £2.40 on a £2.40 item, so a 100% overcharge. Who is worse now?

Case in point: Statistics can be manipulated to mean whatever you like, but more often than not are nonsense.

No matter how bad Tesco is, saying they have a "50% error rate" is way off the mark
