Say Becky was not a genuine customer, but instead was a thief who had changed the labels to steal the product. Would you expect any retailer to hand over the goods in those circumstances?

Again, for the sake of clarity - I am not accusing anyone of anything. Hell, it could all be wrong - I was not there and have know way of knowing what happened. Just trying to offer an alternative POV.

But by paying for them at the price indicated on the pack (regardless of if it had been tampered with) she had bought them and they were her property. Tesco had recieved the money for the goods and the exchange had been made.

Surely if they suspected fraud the police should have been called, it sounds to me like they are taking the law into their own hands on this one.

If this is policy when "fraud" is suspected whats to stop them taking all R&Rs away from us and just handing us the cash back and saying its being investigated?

Sounds like a good way of getting out of the policy on the poster doesnt it?

"Oh sorry we cant give you an R&R on that item as we think the label has been tampered with, we are keeping it and here is your money back"

Hope this isnt a sign of things to come...
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

yeah name the store so us fellow mse folk can go and congratulate the "hero" :T

    OR ..... ....

"Hi am from the northern express .. i hear that meat has recently been tampered with in ur store?.. could you please give us the story in ur own words for tomorrow article" *evil laugh*

I'm all for you namimg the store as well, Becky, if you feel comfortable with that. PM me if you prefer and I will PM anyone else who wants it (and is a kosher contributor on here, I know who you all are! ;) ). It really is about time we used our 'muscle' to tell these plonkers that this sort of accusatory behaviour is unacceptable, and what better way to get our message across than descending on these stores like locusts. :D

I appreciate you're not accusing me is a general comment. I wouldn't risk my career for the sake of some steak!
However when I said I had picked them up from the shelf as they were, she then implied they were not from the store I was in. Also the labels hadn't been changed as such, a first reduction sticker had been placed over the original price per kg, this was still stuck fast to the product. What the duty manager was claiming was that a 2nd reduction sticker had been placed over the 1st reduction sticker and this had been removed. Surely it would take some time and patience to pick off the supposed 2nd stickers, without damaging the 1st sticker. Not impossible but would certainly look suspicious to other staff/customers while it was being done?

No. It does not sound like that to me.

Like I say I was not there - can't say why the police were not called (tbh, getting the police to attend for under £10 is like pulling teeth), if indeed what I have suggested is what the store actually thought...although it sounds likely from the way it has been described.

This is the problem with these issues and is why I do not usually comment on them. It is just impossible to make authorative posts based on only one side of the story. All I can offer you is "maybe's" and "perhaps". Or at least an alternative way of looking at a situation. Take it or leave it.

Was the sticker specifically marked "Reduction" across the top?

Thay have CCTV cameras covering the meat counters now, Constantine, as you indeed confirmed a while back, due to the value of some of the cuts exceeding the previous druggies bounty of choice, alcohol. If you are accusing someone of doing such an act, then you really should be prepared to be able to back it up, I think. (I'm not saying YOU as in yourself, btw!)

PM rec'd. Not in my neck of the woods but I'll get round to it, eventually. I'm happy to PM anyone who is thinking about having a visit. I will only be PM'ing people I know to be genuien, so please don't take offence if you don't get a PM.

PS Becky has agreed that I can say it is in the Swansea area, so anyone within driving distance, PM me for full details.

The total amount was for 18.85, I would have had no problem with them calling the police as I did nothing wrong. And yes I was made to feel like I was commiting theft or fraud.

I can asure spa2k it is purelly co-incidence, as you aware ive been posting on this thread for quite some time and like you i have taken a back seat over the last few months.
I still actively puruse this thread and sometimes i just cant resist posting when i see the same rediculous pattern occuring.
This thread continues to amuse as it very rarely relates to its title of actually discussing the tesco mis price policy. I dont understand why the mods didnt lock this thread a long time ago.
    Just my thoughts

Yes we all remember your reasons for wanting the thread to close.

When you and Bleugh got together to post the false misprices(laptops/washers etc) to give the MSE RandRers the run around, and watch from the private forum you and Bleugh put together....a lot of us realised then your joy that the arguments caused the thread to be temporarily locked.....

Its a month since you posted, how convenient that you come in when a conflict of opinions is being aired........something akin to the last posts you made........although you havent had your dig at Mr mcd yet.....but I'm sure that will come.............all i can say to others is

    Please dont feed the troll.
    Couponing....."every little hurts"

Half of the people can be part right all of the time, Some of the people can be all right part of the time.
But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.
"I'll let you be in my dreams if I can be in yours, "I said that............................ Bob Dylan 1963
