I think McDonag and a couple of his chums set up an elite group of some sort - seem to recall him saying that they get together in cyber-space and chunder whilst watching us mere mortals on MSE...
I'm staying here.

I'm sure it happens but with nothing like the regularity you describe.
Regardless of that, it wouldn't then be normal behaviour to have a go at the next person who comes along in the way they do, a little tetchy perhaps, but argumentative and obstructive? No.
Spot on post.
I've seen a few amusing, aminated, and indeed arsey customers having a 'discussion' with CS staff - never seen anyone totally lose it in the manner described.

well, after McD posted he'd had about £4000 back from Tesco - at least I think it was him, I started wondering how much I have had.....had meat, books, today mp3's, tv, mobile phone......only gone over the top with the books and that's to get 34 - one for each child in my class ( which I have done..)
so I reckon it's about £700
I'm very happy with what I have had for free, it is stuff I have actually wanted - I leave things I don't want for others, the only thing to sell is one of the MP3 players I got today
not that I wouldn't want to sell other stuff.. :-)0 -
with me, CS have been lovely0

Xmas gift pack of champagne and chocolates SEL £20, scans at £20, box £18 - not in boxes at my tesco store!
Lindt dark chocolate - SEL £3.XX so not on offer in my store!
Very few DVDs stickered!
Rowenta Iron correctly priced at £14.98!
Tins of chocs priced at 2 for £9!
Quite a few packs of beer have offers ending today 24/10!0 -
I'm not sure if it just the stores I go to, but has anyone else noticed that on some special offers i.e. meat reductions, the special offer sel never gets displayed.
I got an R&R on a shoulder of lamb on the first day of the offer in the Parrs Wood Store, I have never seen the special offer sel in the Stockport store although the price on pack is reduced on the normal label, so in effect the price on pack is lower than the sel(but the average shopper wouldn't know this.)
Are they that desperate to reduce R&R's that they don't want the public to know about their special offers?? (which is probably why a lot of people buy the product in the first place.)
Surely it would make more sense for them to take an R&R hit on the first day to get rid of the old stock, then sell more special offer stock throughout the promotion?0 -

Umm, without wanting to be pedantic, isn't this exactly the same as the old policy?
Either you're mistaken, or the Tesco Brainstorming Team have been sniffing too much Tipex...

Well after my sucessful morning trip with MP3 player, I actually realised that we needed a couple of bits, so popped out to my local T.
Got the bits and then took a stroll down the beef aisle. Found the sirloin steak, bigger packs better value , 5 individually wrapped.
Yellow SEL said 12.23kg crossed out and 10.37kg but the packs had 12.23kg but also had a yellow barcoded sticker saying 10.87kg ( not a "going out of date" one ), they were obviously stickered when packed.
So I paid for 4 packs, wrote down other steak packs and their price per kg as I was going to say I had been studying price per kg to get the best value and circled the one I was buying ( at 10.37 )
Told CS and she went to check, was gone ages, obviously went to find someone to tell about it and warn. Came back with the actual SEL and told me that it was different product, I showed her that the packs say 12.23 just like the SEL. The SEL said Argentinian Sirloin steaks, and also said BPBV so I asked her what this meant, Bigger pack better value she said, oh just like the top of everyone of these packs I said!. Knowing that they were the only BPBV packs cof beef in the whole beef section!
She still tried to tell me it was a different product! , was going to leave it and just ask for normal refund but I thought no Im not going to let them get away with it so asked to speak to manager as I knew I was sooooo in the right.
She got on the phone, talking soooo quietly, obviously saying that they have messed up then she turned her back and carried on talking. got off phone and apologised for the wait as she couldnt get hold of anyone ( big lie) but someone came along. I briefly explained but guessed she saw him earlier when she went to look at the shelf.
He came up with just about every excuse in the book, wrong product, barcode error !?, oh someone printed the wrong label price. BINGO I knew then I had him over a barrel, so its an error after all then I said ?
"Ok so what would you like me to do for you", he asked, followed by "I can refund the difference," quickly followed by "we can refund you 1 pack".All without me saying anything. So I said as I had been kept waiting so long I had had time to read the nice blue sign to which he just said the the girl "give the customer all his money back and off he went.
So she got half way through the refund when another more senior looking manager appeared and had obviuosly been briefed somewhere else because he started trying to tell me it was for a different product, so had to give him a lesson on his own barcodes,he tried to tell me that all the meat packs had to match the code on the SEL exactly. I pointed out the part which shows the price in the barcode and he tried to tell me that was a coincidence!!!!...on 4 packs mmmmmnn.
I got the R+R , £45.11 , made me even keener to catch them out now.
May have to lay low for a bit at this store :cool:0 -
