!!!!!! Dastardly your so funny I wish I had the confidence to say that instead of just pretending I noticed it as I was on my way back the car!
I think what the OP(Richie) may be saying(without actually saying it or naming names) is that, we've been there done that, had the high value refusal, phoned HO, got the ban, had the points deducted and had the letter..............when we now realize there's a better way............Theres no need to be so cocky, just let events unfold, point out the policy, and most of the time, you will leave the store satisfied.
But then there's always the other occassions...........
Why would you get the points deducted, had the letter, etc, if you were in the right ? The law is on your side.
Often there is no better way than standing your ground and not being fobbed off, it is a only a 35% approx chance that you will get a R&R hassle free . But it is particularly satisfying when you get the better of a particularly awkward CS / Store manager / Duty Manager (they seem to be the worst), I always love a good arguement, escpecially when I know I'll win in the end.
I had one duty manager (we had met previously), that went off to consult his Head Office legal team once, trying to ban me, after 20 minutes he came back tail between his legs, in the meantime I'd already called HO at the CS desk (who gave him a roasting aswell).
I can assure you he has not been awkward in any further dealings, especially when I made him look like a fool in front of his staff in return for wasting my time.Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.

Fosters 4 Pack - Saw a 2 for £6 amongst the £2 for £6.30 ones. Will do this one tommorow.
Back to school stationary - Assorted - Prices on boxes less than SEL.
The Sour Cream/Paprika pringles looked like they were pretty clearly excluded from the offer in my store. Not sure how you argue the R&R on this as SEL says 120g/300g packs and these are neither.
The 'normal' sized Pringles are 170g, and this is what most of the sels refer to, along with pringles dips.
The 'Halloween' packs which trigger the r&r are 213g, and say '213g for the normal price of 170g'. Therefore they cannot deny you r&r.0 -
Here are just a few of the issues I have had to deal with, although there are considerably more :
1. For policy to apply need to leave store.
2. For policy to apply you need to be aware before you leave store.
3. Policy ended some time ago.
4. I'll give you the difference.
5. The SEL only applies to those with a special sticker on them.
6. I'll give you one free as a gesture and the others you can have at the price you paid.
7. That SEL does not have the word OAK in it, what this the new SEL does not have it either (damn).
8. Pointing to board ........ ooooh that policy is for uuuum ahhahh uumm something else
9. Now look sonny I don't know which Tesco's you have worked in but a refund and you keep the product, don't talk rubbish.
10. Refund and keep product ... don't know about that policy ...... (given same lady as happily refunnded a £1.18 block of cheese previous week on policy ... some sort of memory loss I wonder)
11. UUumm ok that's marked at £6 should have been £5, shall we call it £3.50 then .. point to policy .... slams door goes off in a mood.
This is why you often have to force the issue.Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.

Had the organic rump steak for dinner, OH said it was so good he'd buy it - I told hm not to be so silly.
If any Mr.T. workers have any influence on the offers a 25% off meat again would be nice - got to work hard lately for the steak and lamb.0 -

Decided a trip to Mr T's was in order, to re-stock the larder for the winter hibernation. As usual total fiasco. Got some lager and books, like taking candy from a baby. Took it easy with the amounts refunds around £35 mark, not bad while I get a feel for the wicket again. Looking at the thread and on the evidence of todays quick visit they still have not got this pricing problem sorted. Anyway, see you soon in a Mr T's near your !! Had a celebratory lager on my return which tasted even better as it was free.
P.s might go out on a record breaking attempt sometime this week !! Best hire a van for the day !!......................................................
I can't believe these CS staff are still unaware of the R&R policy. They seem to have memories like goldfish. Think that they may need a refresher course, will see if I can find a FEW dozen of these filofaxes, so that I can re-educate them.......................................................
I would say that it is always useful to have a little extra ammunition in the locker for the most difficult of CS representatives. From experience it does shake them up a bit when you ask them to ring head office, but I prefer the just telling them the number off the top of my head approach so that they know that I mean business, and they ain't going to fob me off with any nonsense. In the end I'll be as awkward or as pleasant as is required by the situation..................................................
VAN FOR HIRE ANYONE ???? .....................................
To be honest I wouldn't bother over a box of pringles, but I never get R&R for a single box of pringles. I never bother with an R&R unless it's a worthwhile amount and it usually strangley is, I don't know how it seems to always happen to me.
Don't really bother me if they remember me or not. Often they do know and they also know that they can't do anything about it. It is often very clear that I am stitching them up, and make sure they know they need to sort the situation out. Especially when often I stick several different items on the counter and ask for the manager to come down an explain why this can occur.
For instance, went in one day got some chicken breasts, made a point of saying to CS that it was not satisfactory and I expected it to be sorted when I visited again. Went back 2 days later, not sorted, cleared shelf, even told CS dealing with it that I had told them 2 days earlier, what can she say I have the receipt to prove it was OC 2 days ago, and they'd done nothing. This sort of slackness gets my gander up.
Ive listed your posts since you "returned from hibernation"
Since you last posted on these threads on 9th of March, things have changed drastically in the field of RandRing.
I dont know how far youve read back but since thread 4 when you last posted(and in particular the last 2 months) we have had some Tesco Fiascos that have actually changed Mr T's attitude, and possibly made every employee of Tescos aware of RandR and RandRers,
Around 25th of August we had the start of the Games console fiasco...where Mr T gave us around a million quids worth of Xboxes, PS2's PSP's and the like.......this lasted 5 weeks or so.
We then had the games fiasco, the books fiasco, the meat fiasco , and the beer fiasco (i'm sure ive missed the odd one out)
In this time attitudes and methods have changed.
Some of us have been banned from local, some from area and some from all stores.
Some of us have had lots of points deducted from clubcards.
Some of us have had letters, asking us to do silly things like, asking managers if we can enter their stores.
What I'm getting at is, I think things have changed in the 7 months you havent RandRed.......so dont expect CS to be afraid of your threats(HO), or not to stand up to you......but causing a big stir now....isnt the done thing, (unless absolutely necessary)and is more likely to bring you a ban rather than your goods RandRed.
And in reply to your list above
Yes, weve all had these excuses and more....the latest one is the hand written "at managers discression" or "only applies to first item" or " not for weighed goods" etc stuck on a piece of paper on the bottom of the blue board.
But even these can usually be dealt with by gentle negotiating.......In the past fortnight I have had NO confrontation on over a dozen RandRs(some £100+ ones as well)...........which 5 weeks ago would have been unknown.
Read the thread......There are lots of comments from established RandRers on how non confrontational the CS staff and Managers are becoming.........All though there maybe a "cunning plan" a foot by HO......but thats another story.Couponing....."every little hurts"
Half of the people can be part right all of the time, Some of the people can be all right part of the time.
But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

I've had a few wireless xbox 360's @ £279.97 each, some PSP's and PS2's and loads of mobiles over £150.00 too.
I have just done a download from my bank account and it says that I have had over £4,036 worth of refunds from Tesco since 07 August 2006 but I had some major refunds before that since starting to r&r on 10 July 2006.
The majority of my 9300 clubpoints are extra point purchases and I am yet to order online as I normally shop at Asda as they are cheaper.
The analysis of my 'real Tesco spend' against refunds, amounts to a total 'real spend' of £63.72!!! (Not including Petrol purchases.)
But having said that, my last "major" r&r was on 12 Oct 2006 for £86.00 and that was after a 3 week 'holiday' keeping my head down after the console debacle.
