Regarding CS who are arsey when questioned. I havent tried it yet but I am prepared. I have put the Head Office phone number into my mobile under the heading TESCO Head Office. If any CS staff start the old chesnut of difference in price or youve done this before I am going to whip out the mobile (FREE from MR T) and give them an option of refund or phone call to HO. Step back and watch the reaction. GAME ON

If you already have the number in your mobile and you say that to them they will know you have had problems or issues before. Not many people have HO number in their mobile..you might give the game away.

Best to ask them for it and ring them that way not whip the "free mobile" out.

You should act dumb with dealing with them and just point the big blue policy out to them!

I am fuming found the filofaxes today so picked up one. Went to CS she said you have to go on SEL must have put in wrong box said what all the boxes say £12.97 she took them all out of boxes and said I'll give you £2 back. Said its an overcharge she rang manager and he said I could have them for £10. Wouldn't speak to me. So accepted it for £10.

I had a problem with manager stating that the SEL is the one they have to go by not the box price.

My reply "why have you then bothered to cover up/tear off the box prices on many items if you go by the SEL" he was totally lost for words and squirmed and came out with the usual - well as a show of goodwill you can have R & R this time. lol. I also mentioned that it was far easier to see the box price when you had loads of SELs on one shelf for lots of different products.

I was going to say "Im sure by law you should sell me the item at the lower price as is it not illegal to charge a higher price when a lower one is on display " Pity I didnt get that far - well next time I have a problem !!!!!!

Hold you ground staff have obviously been told to try and use the SEL price as the way not to operate the R & R policy.
Thanks to everyone who posts comps :T

I would say that it is always useful to have a little extra ammunition in the locker for the most difficult of CS representatives. From experience it does shake them up a bit when you ask them to ring head office, but I prefer the just telling them the number off the top of my head approach so that they know that I mean business, and they ain't going to fob me off with any nonsense. In the end I'll be as awkward or as pleasant as is required by the situation. :D;)
Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.

I have never tried it your way but i have been very arkward once and know i wont visit that store for a while, so i believe why kick a huge fuss up and leave yourself in a situation where you want be able to return. Last thing you want to do is argue over an overpirce on piringles and then an xbox fiasco happens again you wont be able to use that store as they remembered you kicked a huge fuss up last time and knew what you were doing.

I purposely went to the one store and got an overprice on pringles actually and they said "sorry sir its not part of the offer" so I just appoligised and said "oh sorry bou that i thought they were due to the sign saying 'all pringles' i'll just have a refund then!" and then gave the pringles to them. The manager was there that day an they all looked smirk because i didnt have them free... next time i go in there i'll get a proper r&r and they wont rememeber me.

Thats just me though.... learnt from my mistake the last time i got arsey with them..an this women was a complete moose!!

Found the Filofaxes today after travelling 20miles to try different stores but they all had the box price scribbled out even the ones behind on the brown and pink.

To be honest I wouldn't bother over a box of pringles, but I never get R&R for a single box of pringles. I never bother with an R&R unless it's a worthwhile amount and it usually strangley is, I don't know how it seems to always happen to me. :D

Don't really bother me if they remember me or not. Often they do know and they also know that they can't do anything about it. ;) It is often very clear that I am stitching them up, and make sure they know they need to sort the situation out. :D Especially when often I stick several different items on the counter and ask for the manager to come down an explain why this can occur.

For instance, went in one day got some chicken breasts, made a point of saying to CS that it was not satisfactory and I expected it to be sorted when I visited again. Went back 2 days later, not sorted, cleared shelf, even told CS dealing with it that I had told them 2 days earlier, what can she say I have the receipt to prove it was OC 2 days ago, and they'd done nothing. This sort of slackness gets my gander up.

I think what the OP(Richie) may be saying(without actually saying it or naming names) is that, we've been there done that, had the high value refusal, phoned HO, got the ban, had the points deducted and had the letter..............when we now realize there's a better way............Theres no need to be so cocky, just let events unfold, point out the policy, and most of the time, you will leave the store satisfied.

But then there's always the other occassions...........
