No, she didn't scan it, she wrote the barcode on her hand and typed it in.

For example - 0245237 001851 is the barcode on the pack of lamb chops I happen to have in my fridge.

    Got you now!

Barcodes also identify where the product is sold

    0 is England
    2 is South
    4 is London
    5 is East
    2 is E2
    3 is Extra
    7 is Royal

I didnt know there was a Tescos in the grounds of Buck House.....
    Couponing....."every little hurts"

Half of the people can be part right all of the time, Some of the people can be all right part of the time.
But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.
"I'll let you be in my dreams if I can be in yours, "I said that............................ Bob Dylan 1963
  • Hi guys,

I've just had my first R&R but I feel like a criminal!

I went into Tesco's near me and spotted the pringles 2 for 2.30 deal. I grabbed 4 of the sour cream flavour (the only 4 left!) and took them to the self service till. The discount did not come off and was over charged.

Went of the customer service and the CS assisant says "tell you what, I'll give you one for free"
Being very nervous, I said yes OK and refunded £1.38. As she was putting it through I noticed the sign with the policys had boxes stacked in front of it but I still said "aren't you surposed to refund them all?"

"Oh am I now?!" and I replied "well it states so in your policy"
she then replied "you've done this before haven't you!"! I got very nervous then and said "no I do not know what you are on about".

She then said she would refund them all, I got a sigh of relief and entered in my pin of my card. She then handed me the receipt and only took another one off (£1.38). I then stated she hadn't refunded the other 2. She then said "I give up" and handed me over to an assistant. She then shouted at the top of her voice to another collegue "THE PRINGLES DEAL ISN'T COMING OFF. REMOVE IT IMMEDIATELY" with lots of people looking around at me and pointing with my bag of pringles!
Haven't felt so embarresed in my life.
Anyway, the assistant refunded me the other 2 pots and quickly got out of the store.

I don't know if I can go through all that again

to which you should have shouted at the top of your voice "YES THAT'S RIGHT, YOU'RE OVER CHARGING ME & EVERY OTHER CUSTOMER WHO BUYS PRINGLES, WHICH IS ILLEGAL"

ADDING: THE SHELF WAS ALMOST EMPTY AND I'M THE FIRST CUSTOMER WHO HAS REPORTED THIS. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN ILLEGALLY OVERCHARGED IN THIS STORE TODAY, I WONDER?? CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS, PEOPLE!' :D
I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!
  • I am really annoyed at myself - I have never got to grips with the R & R policy and one time when I queried a price going through the till the operator had a supervisor go check the shelf who came back and said another price (still not the right price) and they stood and hummed and hawed and I told them to just forget as the queue was building up!
I wont do that again and know now to go to CS!

Thanks for all the helpful hints :)

More like "EVERYONE FROM MSE HAS CLEARED OUT THE SHELVES AND HAD R&R AND THESE ARE THE ONLY ONES LEFT - SORRY PEOPLE"!

On a serious note though, I feel really ashamed and feel really annoyed that customer service assistant had made me feel like this. How rude of her from walking away from a customer and insulting me like that shouting to everyone in the store

  • I have a question about the r&r policy - please see shop but dont drop forum!!
  • Ok

no response there so i'll try here!

So sorry to post here but i have no time! Just been to the tesco express and saw thorntons classic chocs for £2.85. Grabbed 5 and saw that they went through till at £5.18. Went back afterwards and was told that price was for 127 g and not 350 g which is what i bought. Thing is there were no other thorntons chocs on the shelf and no price for the 350 gms. Manager offered me partial refund before I could say anything. He gave me £6.65 back which I now realise means that the chocs still cost me 3.85. I was happy to get the difference back so that they cost £2.85, price I thought I was buying them.

Sending hubby back to see Manager, where do we stand? Shall we just ask for the extra fiver back so that chocs cost £2.85 or are we entitled to them free plus a refund?

    tia!!!!!!!!
