I have posted this a few times before, I guess one more won't hurt ;)

The SEL includes the 13 digit barcode for the product. For a standard item (ie a can of beans) the digits will match exactly. For catchweight items it is slightly different as the price per item is part of the barcode.

For example - 0245237 001851 is the barcode on the pack of lamb chops I happen to have in my fridge.

0245237 is the code for the chops and will appear on all packs. This will appear on the SEL as 0245237000000. Match the pack to the SEL and they are the same item.

001851 is the price, with the last digit a check digit. So my chops cost £001.85. This will be unique for each item depending on the weight of the item, which is why it is shown as zeros on the SEL.

The problem arrises on meat (plus some cheese and veg) specifically because when there is a price change it is not possible to put in a system fix for each individual variably priced pack. Each pack needs to be individually repriced. Its this process which so often seems to not happen.

Aw, Thanks so much for the very generous offer!!! It really is not nessesary, I was only doing the same as so many people on these boards have helped me... I'm just glad you got such a good swipe!!! I'm still on the look out myself (when I rememeber) and I'm sure I'll be rewarded another way... Your kind gesture really is appreciated, maybe you could donate that bottle to a x-mas charity raffle on my behalf?!

    Thanks again
    Couponing....."every little hurts"

But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

Go to Dundee if you prefer, but its a problem the store would/should certainly be able to resolve.

I hope you all don't think I'm ungreatful now, I do truly appreciate the offer but would be silly for leadhead to go out of his way when I know good things will come to me anyway...

Just come back fro my local tesco, and had a right palaver with the cs assistant..Grr!
saw sirloin steaks big bag on pffer, doen from 312.23 per kg to £10.97 per kg.
I found one that had escaped the reduced pricing , and paid for it.

trip to CS, where I said about the misprice... cs assistant said, oh, it's £10.85, so you have a bargain!
No.... saysme, that's the pack price, not per kg.
So she went off, and came back and told me it was right.
I then went with her again( afer disagreeing with her again!) and showed her the big yellow offer label.
She then found a meat assistant.. who told her, yes, i have been overcharged.i went back to cs desk with her, and she offered me the difference back!
I stated she should give me a full refund, so she did.
Then I noticed my beef had gone!!!
Oh, she says, i gave it back to the meat assistant.
So I showed her the clause, on the board about refunds, and she said, oh, i shall have to go all the way to the store dept to find it now, and sighed.
I told her not to bother, as I'd had enough of hanging about over a peice of beef.

i wasn't happy though... not often i find mispriced meat and i was hoping for a nice dinner!!
Am I right.. she should have given me the pack and the refund?

Oh.. and the quality street discount glitch didn't work for me either.. boo!

You are right you should of been given the meat& a refund. You could always take it up with HO - but is it worth it, maybe wait for the bigger r&r.The choccy glitch seems to have been fixed yesterday I think.

She knew the policy, artful cat. I'd have stood there while she went to get it, & made sure it wasn't another one of lesser value.
Was she entirely truthful with you, cos when I do a meat R&R they have to scan the offending item into the system to generate a receipt.
Don't be fobbed off, stand your ground in future.
